Event 2 (Day 1C): Finding That Bag

Event 2 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD)
Level 14 (Blinds 1,200/2,400/400)
Total Day 1C Entries: 271
Day 1C Players Remaining: 47
Total Event 2 Entries: 580

There are (47) players left as the final level of the night begins, all hoping to stick around another (45) minutes or so.  All tournament players would likely agree that there is nothing worse than playing twelve hour of poker, only to walk away empty handed (or without a bag for Day 2).  Now, the Day 2 entry is very enticing, but it's also a pretty short stack to start the day with.

Once tournament staff confirms and verifies the bags from Day 1C, we will post the end of flight counts, followed by the Day 2 seating assignments.

Event 2 (Day 1C): You Thought He Wasn't Showing?

Event 2 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD)
Level 12 (Blinds 600/1,200/200)
Total Day 1C Entries: 260
Day 1C Players Remaining: 72
Total Event 2 Entries: 569

Raminder Singh (Delray Beach, FL)

Followers of the blog know that the most recent entry into Event #2 needs no introduction.  Raminder Singh (Delray Beach, FL) has been a mainstay at tournaments here at the Isle Poker Room, and he's been super successful as well.  Raminder recorded an unreal (40) cashes last year (on Hendon Mob), which had him ranked 14th in the world...yes, in the world.  Those (40) cashes amounted to earnings of over $343,000, which would be an incredible year by any poker players standards.  It was odd to not see him in either of the flights leading up to today, and with dinner coming and going, we just assumed he would not be arriving.  Well Raminder is here, and he's already doing what he does best...accumulating chips.

Event 2 (Day 1C): Updated Chip Counts

Event 2 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD)
Level 11 (Blinds 600/1,200/200)
Total Day 1C Entries: 256
Day 1C Players Remaining: 85
Total Event 2 Entries: 565

Players are about to head on break, and when they return to Level 11, the blinds will have increased to 600/1,200/200.  There is only one break remaining after play resumes, with four levels left in the night, at which point the bagging process begins.  Here are some updated chip counts from the end of Level 10:

Michael Marks - 215,000
Mechel Duerel - 205,000
Mike Newman - 140,000
Andrew Touchette - 140,000
Zoltan Czinkota - 130,000
Maury Barrett - 130,000
Anthony Ocampo - 115,000
Elan Hadida - 100,000

Event 2 (Day 1C): Marks Leading The Way

Event 2 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD)
Level 10 (Blinds 400/800/100)
Total Day 1C Entries: 250
Day 1C Players Remaining: 104
Total Event 2 Entries: 559

Michael Marks (North Lauderdale, FL)

With one level already in the books post-dinner break, Michael Marks has emerged at the field chip  leader.  There are a handful of stacks above the 100,000 mark now, but Marks is one of the only players pushing 200,000, as he currently sits with 190,000.  Marks has over $56,000 in recorded tournament earnings to his name, including an Isle trophy won during the 2015 Isle Poker Open (Event #14 - $100 NLH Bounty $6,025).

Other notables still alive in the field include:

TJ Shulman
Kimberly Jones
Tom Gity
Frederico Dabus

Event 2 (Day 1C): Dinner Break, Find A Bag

Event 2 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD)
Level 8 (Blinds 250/500/50)
Total Day 1C Entries: 217
Day 1C Players Remaining: 122
Total Event 2 Entries: 526

Players are just moments away from their scheduled (45) minute dinner break, and will then return to finish out the flight.  There are five more levels to be played before the bagging process begins, beginning with Level 9, and blinds of 400/800/100.  Only (35) players have found themselves a Day 2 bag to this point, and while we expect more than that to finish this flight alone, it would be surprising if Day 2 started with over (100) players (have to factor in the entries joining the field before Day 2 starts).  "Live blog" coverage will pick back up post-dinner break, at approximately 7:00pm.

Event 2 (Day 1C): No Separation Just Yet

Event 2 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD)
Level 7 (Blinds 250/500/50)
Total Day 1C Entries: 215
Day 1C Players Remaining: 122
Total Event 2 Entries: 524

It should be mentioned that levels have transitioned to (50) minutes in length, and will stay that way for the rest of this flight (and the rest of the tournament).  We haven't seen any players jump out to a really big chip lead, as the stacks seem pretty flat across the field.  There hasn't been a player to eclipse the century mark just yet, but a handful are playing stacks in the 65-75,000 range.  Here are some updated counts tallied during the middle stages of Level 7:

Maury Barrett - 77,000
Mike Wojcaeszek - 75,000
Hugh Hardy - 70,000
Zoltan Czinkota - 66,000
Daniel Genachte - 60,000

Event 2 (Day 1C): Rounding Out The Notables

Level 6 (Blinds 200/400/50)
Total Day 1C Entries: 195
Day 1C Players Remaining: 130
Total Event 2 Entries: 504

The time is winding down on Level 6, and at it's conclusion, players will head on their second break of the day.  When they return to Level 7, the blinds will have increased to 250/500/50 (30,000 chip average).  Before we begin to shift our focus on chip counts, hand histories, and other features...we will take a final look at the notables that are in the field (that haven't been mentioned to this point on the blog):

Robert Perniola
Andrew Touchette
Steven Zukowski
Jeffery Burdeen
TJ Shulman
Eric Mutschler
Jeffrey Cohen
Nkolla Sinishtaj
George El-Khouri
Mithcell Mantin
Adel Jo

Event 2 (Day 1C): Faces In The Crowd (Part II)

Event 2 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD)
Level 5 (Blinds 150/300/25)
Total Day 1C Entries: 178
Day 1C Players Remaining: 138
Total Event 2 Entries: 486

Players are continuing to arrive for this final flight of Event #2, with notable Florida-based tournament professional Ory Hen (Cooper City, FL) showing up for his second flight of the event.  While Ory attends the larger guarantee events here at the Isle, there are numerous players across the room that show up for tournaments, whether they are part of a series...or just dailies:

Alfonso Perez (Coconut Creek, FL) is a tournament fixture here at the Isle, recorded (10) cashes on Hendon Mob in 2016 (remember, the "daily" events were not submitted until the final two months of the year).  Those cashes totaled over $31,700 in earnings, with his most recent finish the largest of his career.  Perez reached the final table of the Isle Poker Open Championship ($1,500 NLH), finishing in 8th place, and earning himself $13,840.

Martin Robbins (Lincoln, NH) is another player who's 2016 resume may be skewed a little (without "daily" tournament finishes added), but he still had an impressive year.  Robbins recorded (6) cashes on Hendon Mob, but the total of those cashes equated to over $86,800.  Robbins had a career highlighting score in 2016, reaching the final table of the $570 NLH event during the SHRPO, and agreeing to be part of a nine-way deal (Robbins earned over $79,000 for his share).

Karin Powsner (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) has done most of her damage in the "daily" tournaments, but her 2016 saw her record (7) cashes on Hendon Mob, totaling $5,898.  Powsner's largest recorded cash of the year came just a few weeks ago, when she took home $2,400 as part of a deal in one of the December "Structure Beasts."

Event 2 (Day 1C): Showing Up At The Polls

Event 2 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD)
Level 4 (Blinds 100/200)
Total Day 1C Entries: 168
Day 1C Players Remaining: 137
Total Event 2 Entries: 477

Poll voting on top right (circled area in picture)
There is just over (24) hours remaining for open voting on the inaugural Isle Poker Blog poll.  The questioned posed related to what game players would like to see spread more often in the poker room (cash game side).  Of the five choices, the voting is pretty close, with the top choice scheduled to have a game run this Wednesday (January 11th) at 12:00pm.

The games listed were all variations (or limits) that we don't usually see run here at the Isle, and while the top choice will be played, that does not mean that the game you voted for will not eventually be spread.  Those followers who are voting should actually have interest in playing the game the vote for, as an interest list will begin ahead of time (starting on Monday, players can put their name on the list).

Knowing the popularity of certain games here at the Isle, it may come as a surprise that 10/20  Limit Hold'em is currently the highest voted game, but it's only one vote ahead of both 6/12 H.O.R.S.E. and 1/2 PLO.  It should be known that followers can only vote one time.

Event 2 (Day 1C): Faces In The Crowd

Event 2 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD)
Level 3 (Blinds 75/150)
Total Day 1C Entries: 122
Day 1C Players Remaining: 117
Total Event 2 Entries: 431

Level 3 is winding down, and players are about to take their first (10) minute break of the day.  They will return to Level 4, and new blinds of 100/200, the last level before antes are introduced.  The field continues to grow large, and we're spotting some players that are making their first appearance of the event.

Kimberly Jones (Pompano Beach, FL) is a player who has become familiar to those followers of the blog, first introduced during the 2016 Isle Poker Open (Event #1).  Jones had a successful 2016, recording (8) cashes on Hendon Mob, totaling over $22,900 in earnings.  Jones earned her career highlighting score last year, finishing 4th in the $350 No Limit Hold'em event during the Coco Poker Open in January, earning herself $16,313.

Guillermo Irving (Miami Gardens, FL) is another player that's coming off of a solid year of tournament poker, recording (12) cashes on Hendon Mob.  Those cashes earned Guillermo a total of $25,916, with his largest cash of the year coming just before Christmas.  Irving was part of the ten-way deal that concluded the "Structure Beast" event on December 14th, getting $7,273 for his seventh place share.

Posted below is the "real time" structure sheet, offering players the opportunity to see what the blinds are (and how many big blinds they will arrive with), when they choose to arrive later in the day.  This is something that tournament players always inquire about during events with "all-day" registration, so it has been posted the previous two days:

Day 1C Players Remaining: 85
Total Event 2 Entries: 396

Players have all day today, and until the first card is dealt tomorrow to enter Event #2 of the 2017 Isle Poker Classic

Day 1C play got underway about (35) minutes ago, and the pace of entries is already ahead of the first two flights.  The final flight of a tournament with multiples starting days is always going see the highest attendance, so it will be interesting to see how big today's field gets.  There are (35) players to have already booked tickets to tomorrow's Day 2, which begins at 12:00pm.  Just a reminder, any players who weren't able to bag chips during one of the starting flights (or those who just want to join late) can enter tomorrow as well, up until the first card is dealt for the day.

There are good amount of players in the field trying for the second or third (or more) time to navigate their way to the bagging process, and a lot of new faces as well.  Some names in the field that followers of the blog would recognize are:

Robert Kessler
Michael Goldfarb
Pedro Palacio
Martin Robbins
Rafel Ramos
Joseph Mancuso
Michael Newman
Hugh Hardy
Ian Cohen
