Isle Open Event #3 (Flight 1G): Numbers Continue To Impress, As The Paces Looks To Crush Guarantee

2018 Isle Open | Event #3
$100 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 9 (Blinds 500/1,000/1,000)
Total Flight 1G Entries: 118
Flight 1G Players Remaining: 51

The cards are back in the air for Level 9 of Flight G with registration now officially closed.  The seventh flight of Event #3 ($100 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD) closed with a total of (118) entries, of which (51) currently remain.  The official prize fund from the flight is $8,850 (with a combined total of $51,825).  The flight is scheduled to play through the conclusion of Level 16, or until the 10% mark (which for this flight, is nine players).

These numbers are surpassing expectations, as it looks like the event will end up with a final prize pool well over the posted guarantee.

Isle Open Event #3 (Flight 1G): Haines Looking More Of That "Fedora Magic," Headlining List Of Flight 1G Notables

2018 Isle Open | Event #3
$100 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 7 (Blinds 300/600/600)
Total Flight 1G Entries: 106

Brian Haines (Southwest Ranches, FL) may frequent the daytime tournaments on the daily schedule, but he wasn't passing up on playing this event.

When it comes to tournament poker, Brian Haines (Southwest Ranches, FL) would definitely be considering a "daily schedule" grinder.  Afternoon events are the choice tournaments for Haines, who has put together a pretty impressive resume, on those smaller buy-in events alone.  His cashes normally ranged from the $300-$1,200 variety, up until March of this year, and Event #16 of the Battles At The Beach ($360 No Limit Hold'em).   Brian would reach the final table, and after a hard-fought battle, was part of a four-way chop that ended the event.  The result was worth $12,728, and as one would think, helped make 2018 his best year statistically.

Haines (and his patented fedora) is currently sitting at Table 2, and headlines the look at notables in this afternoon's field:

Alan Werner
Jacquelyn Scott
Michael Eddy
Tracy Scala
Richard Aronson
Paul Darpino
David Rivera
Francois Gagne

Isle Open Event #3 (Flight 1G): Spinder Backs Up Career Year With More Stellar Results

2018 Isle Open | Event #3
$100 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 5 (Blinds 200/400/400)
Total Flight 1G Entries: 88

Gregory Spinder (Coral Springs, FL) has good to reason to be all smiles, considering he's just over a week removed from the second largest tournament score of his career.

Gregory Spinder (Coral Springs, FL) had been cashing in poker tournaments since 2006, but it wasn't until last year, that he had his "breakout" result.  During last December's Isle Classic, Spinder reached the final table of the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Main Event, eventually finishing in third place ($30,299).  That result helped make 2017 Gregory's best statistical tournament year, as his number finished off at $58,497, when the calendar turned.

He's now backing up a career year with another solid performance, especially coming off a $17,929 cash last month in a $130 No Limit Hold'em "Big Stack Special" event at Hard Rock (took second place in a deal).  That was Spinder's second five-figure score of the year, having also been part of a deal, during the $1,100 No Limit Hold'em Single-Ante event held here in May.

With a potential top three finish in this event, Spinder would be in line to surpass his career number from last year, and set the bar even higher for 2019.

Six flights down...eight more to go...continuing with this afternoon's Flight 1G.  When the Isle Open schedule first came out, a lot of players looked at this tournament with a little bit of curiosity, wondering if that sized guarantee could be reached.  From what we've seen over the first three days of the event, it looks like that that answer is leaning towards "yes."

After the first six flights, there have been a total of (573) entries, of which (62) players are scheduled to return for Monday's Day 2.  The prize pool heading into the day is $42,975, and with a strong showing this afternoon, we should reach the $50,000 mark at some point.  While Raul Hernandez still sits as one of the two players in line for the chip lead bonus, Kenneth Berman overtook the top spot yesterday afternoon, bagging 411,500 to end Flight 1E.  It's a big number, but with eight flights still remaining, Kenneth's lead is by no means safe.

A new group of players are about to get started, with the first hand of Flight 1G to be dealt momentarily.  Official chip counts from the first six flights will be posted during Level 2, with updates from the field to follow.

Thursday, October 11th: Kenneth Berman Sets The Bar High, As Event #3 Of The Isle Open Rolls On

ICYMI: Yesterday's tournament scheduled hosted the third pair of starting flights for Event #3 of the Isle Open ($100 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD), with the numbers staying very strong.  While the combined (198) entries was a storyline, the real headliner of the day was the play of Kenneth Berman.  The Sarasota resident, who is coming off his largest tournament cash (2nd place in Event #2 of the WSOP Circuit at Coconut Creek for $43,814), bagged a very impressive 411,500.  He had intentions of bagging the top stack early in the day, and wasn't afraid to tell people about it.  Berman now sets the bar for anyone who wants to get their hands on a free $1,500 Isle Open Main Event seat (as top two stacks heading to Day 2 receive seat).

Some of the other (22) players to bag chips from yesterday's pair of flights included: Jonathan Marcu (185,000), Zack Fish (171,000), Scott Hecker (166,500), Diane Linke (141,500), Engelberth Valera (110,000), and Matthew Bretzfield (108,000).

To this point in the event, there have been a total of (573) entries, of which (62) players have bagged chips.  The overall prize pool sits at $42,975, with eight flights still to be played.

Tournaments: Two more of those flights are on today's schedule, as the tournament reaches it's halfway point at Flight 1G's conclusion. The flights are structured with 16,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (25) minutes.  Registration for each flight is open through Level 8, and the ten minute break that follows.  Today's flights begin at 11:00am (Flight 1G) and 6:00pm (Flight 1H), with a satellite sandwiched between.

The $30 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #3 guarantees (10) seats, and begins at 2:00pm.  Details for the satellite's structure can be found by the tournament area, or by calling the poker room.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am, with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).

From 12:00am-3:00am, the high hand will be awarded $100 every (60) minutes.
