Tuesday, December 12th: "H.O.R.S.E-in" Around, As The Isle Classic Schedule Rolls On

ICYMI: Monday's schedule for the Isle Classic began with Event #12, a $60 No Limit Hold'em tournament with a $7,000 guaranteed prize pool.  The event attracted a total of (162) entries, of which (21) players would earn a piece of the $8,304 prize pool.  The tournament would end in a three-way deal, with Scott Jaffa the "declared winner."  The win was the seventh of Jaffa's career, and the second to come during a "major" series.  Along with the trophy, Jaffa earned $2,206.  Listed below are the results from the tournament's final table:
  1. Scott Jaffa (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $2,206
  2. Mark Whatley (Boynton Beach, FL) $1,149
  3. Larry Bass (Tamarac, FL) $1,149
  4. Trevan Hansen (Palm Springs, FL) $519
  5. Marcus Feist (Lake Lure, NC) $400
  6. Michael Carbone (Naples, FL) $332
  7. Francklin Michel (Miramar, FL) $287
  8. Melissa Mancini (Oakland Park, FL) $253
  9. Patricia Conrad (Delray Beach, FL ) $221
  10. Mehrassa Mehrdad (Prince George, Canada) $191
The big numbers arrived at night, as Event #13 saw a field over (271) entries, helping the tournament soar past the posted guarantee.  The $130 (buy-in) No Limit Hold'em event had a $25,000 guarantee, with the official prize pool closing at $31,165.  A total of (34) players would cash in the tournament, with first place scheduled to take home just over $7,000.  With the payouts at the final table as impressive as they were, it was no surprise that the deal making began with more than a handful of players remaining.  We may have seen an even larger chop, but certain players that reached the final table had their sights on winning the event outright.  After the elimination of Maurice Hawkins (West Palm Beach, FL) in seventh place, a six-way deal was agreed to, with Allan Bieler (Sunrise, FL) the event's "declared winner."  Official results from the final table are posted below:
  1. Allan Bieler (Sunrise, FL) $4,387
  2. Sara Azmi (Miami, FL) $3,944
  3. Michael Merisier (N. Lauderdale, FL) $3,286
  4. Zaki Lichaa (Pompano Beach, FL) $2,844
  5. David Zaldivar (Miami, FL) $2,714
  6. Stanley Grandon (Boca Raton, FL) $2,686
  7. Maurice Hawkins (West Palm Beach, FL) $1,044
  8. Xiao He (Medicine, MS) $873
  9. Andrew Turzak (Boynton Beach, FL) $704
  10. Marsha Wolak (Pompano Beach, FL) $592

Tournaments: Of the (20) events on the Isle Classic schedule (not counting satellites), only two were non-no limit hold'em.  The first was exactly a week ago today, as (78) entries made up the Event #6 ($175 Limit Omaha 8B Hi/Lo $8,000 GTD) field.  A good number of those same players will be back this afternoon, as Event #14 ($175 H.O.R.S.E. $5,000 GTD) begins at 11:00am.  The tournament is structured with 14,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (20) minutes over the course of the event.

The no limit hold'em action returns at 6:00pm, as the cards get in the air for Event #15 of the Isle Classic.  The $130 No Limit Hold'em tournament boasts a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool, and is structured with 14,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that also last (20) minutes throughout the evening.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that started back on November 1st, players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand!!!  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
