Tuesday, March 30th: Steven Buckner Wins Monday's "Final Table Finish," While Celso Leroy Wins March's Player Of The Month!!!

ICYMI: The $250 No Limit Hold'em "Final Table Finish" ($10,000 GTD) has been exceeding expectation since it's introduction to the weekly schedule, but nobody could have predicted last night's turnout.  The tournament saw registration close with a total of (143) players, and a prize pool of $30,030!  With the specialized payout structure for the event (only places 1-8 make the money, regardless of how many entries), first place was scheduled to take home over $12,000.  Those payouts ended up getting altered, with the ICM considerations just too strong to see the event play down to a winner.  Steven Buckner (Margate, FL) took home first place money in the deal, worth $6,821.  Official results from the tournament are listed below:
  1. Steven Buckner (Margate, FL) $6,821
  2. Federico Herrera (Argentina) $5,240
  3. Mark Guariglia (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $4,767
  4. Alexander Joseph (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $4,452
  5. Devin Brodman (Coconut Creek, FL) $3,944
  6. Richard Riviello (Penn Yan, NY) $1,802
  7. Robert Kessler (Parkland, FL) $1,502
  8. Lawrence Klur (Boynton Beach, FL) $1,502
Tournaments: Everything was on the line last night, for those hoping to grab a piece of the Player Of The Month tournament promotion.  The results from Monday's tournament had no effect on the overall outcome of the month, with the final results listed below:
  1. Celso Leroy (93.52 pts.) $2,000
  2. David Albertson (74.33 pts.) $1,200
  3. Jeremy Ehrke (67.70 pts.) $500

Monday, March 29th: "Final Table Finish" Is Also The "Final" Tournament Of The Month, Meaning The Leaderboard Competition Is At An All-Time High!!

ICYMI: With just two tournaments remaining in the month of March, players looking to compete for the ten spots on the monthly leaderboard, focused on yesterday's $130 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" ($3,000 GTD).  The event ended up attracting a total of (121) entries, and boasted an official prize pool of $12,100.  While we saw familiar names make waves in the event, there was no shake-up at the top of the leaderboard.  Darkhan Botabayev (Sunny Isles, FL) took the lion's share of a four-way deal, walking away with $3,000 (and 30.00 leaderboard points).  Official results from the tournament are listed below, with an updated Player Of The Month Leaderboard to be posted this afternoon:
  1. Darkhan Botabayev (Sunny Isles, FL) $3,000
  2. Roberto Alvarado (Pompano Beach, FL) $1,700
  3. Jason De Rosa (Hollywood, FL) $1,700

  14. Jesse Koven (Deerfield Beach, FL) $269
  15. Stephanie Keen (Sunrise, FL) $269
  16. Andrew Daire (Boca Raton, FL) $236
Tournaments: At 6:00pm this evening, the $250 No Limit Hold'em ($10,000 GTD) "Final Table Finish" returns, with a little wrinkle.  This particular tournament had such a good structure, that the final table action ran into the closing time of the poker room (players are then faced with chopping, or bagging for a Day 2).  To keep that from occurring, there will be some slight changes moving forward.

The event will be structured with 25,000 chip starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and open registration through Level 8 (and the break that follows).  The new format-wrinkle comes into play when discussing payouts, as the tournament will pay out just the final table, regardless of how many entries.  Exact payout percentages are as follows (final tables are now eight-handed):
  1. 40%
  2. 20%
  3. 10%
  4. 7%
  5. 7%
  6. 6%
  7. 5%
  8. 5%

Promotions: From 11:00am (the minute the doors open) until 11:00pm, $300 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes. These high hands must be aces-full or better, use both hole cards, and be the winning hand (in a pot that has at least $10).  From 11:00pm until close, $100 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes.

Sunday, March 28th: Saturday's $100 NLH $5,000 GTD Attracts Record Breaking Numbers, As Players Battle For Those Leaderboard Points

ICYMI: With the ability for so many players to make moves on the Player Of The Month Leaderboard, last night's $100 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD) ended up breaking all-time records.  The tournament saw registration close with (176) players...a number like none other we've seen, since the poker room's re-opening earlier this summer.  That meant, that for just the $100 buy-in, players were battling it out for a prize pool of $13,200.

Saturday, March 27th: Celso Leroy Has Firm Group On Top Leaderboard Spot, After Chopping Last Night's Friday $5,000 GTD!

ICYMI: Friday's $150 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD) is really the tournament that "started the resurgence," so the numbers shouldn't be a surprise anymore...but one can't help but be impressed sometimes.  Last night's running attracted a total of (134) entries, and a prize pool of $15,410, which is more than triple the guaranteed number.  A total of (17) players were scheduled to see a return on investment, but the story of the evening was Celso Leroy.  Even without winning, he manages to find himself a part of the headline, taking home second place (in a four-way deal).  Even more important than the $2,527 he earned, is the 21.97 leaderboard points, which extends his first place lead (with only a few more events remaining).  Official results from the tournament are listed below, with an updated leaderboard to be posted this afternoon (on the blog, as well as the Isle Casino Pompano Park Poker Room social media outlets):

The tournament is structured with 12,000 unit starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and has registration open through Level 8 (as well as the short break that follows).

Tuesday, March 23rd: "Final Table Finish" Offering Up Impressive Payouts, With Karin Powsner Climbing The Leaderboard

ICYMI: The $250 No Limit Hold'em "Final Table Finish" ($10,000 GTD) quickly found a spot in the player's hearts, having attracted incredibly impressive numbers since it's introduction to the schedule.  Last night's installment ended up attracting a total of (113) players, which equated to a prize pool of $23,730 (to be paid out across the final table).  As has become common with this event, payouts opened eyes across the tournament area, with first place scheduled to take home just under $10,000.  Those posted payouts were eventually altered, with official results from the event listed below:
  1. Ravi Mahtani (Parkland, FL) $4,500
  2. Roni Zelichonok (Miami, FL) $4,413
  3. Karin Powsner (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $3,629

ICYMI: Updated March Player Of The Month Leaderboard (Top 10)

Monday, March 22nd: Celso Leroy Shows Up, And Finds His Way Back To The Top Of The Player Of The Month Leaderboard!

ICYMI: One of the most difficult things to do in tournament poker, is to "make things happen" when needed, as in the case of Celso Leroy.  Leroy had got often to a quick start this month, immediately finding himself atop the leaderboard, and stayed there for a solid two weeks.  Recent performances from David Albertson and Jeremy Ehrke have bumped Celso from the top spot, but he made his presence known last night.

Celso was one spot away from besting a field of (110) entries, eventually falling to Nancy Birnbaum during heads-up play.  The $11,000 prize pool was scheduled to be paid out across (14) spots, with the official results listed below:
  1. Nancy Birnbaum (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $3,297
  2. Celso Leroy (Delray Beach, FL) $2,035
  3. Darkhan Botabayev (Sunny Isles, FL) $1,221
  4. Daniel Genachte (Deerfield Beach, FL) $798
  5. Francisco Milanes (Miami, FL) $616
  6. Irwin Block (Deerfield Beach, FL) $506
  7. Miguel Chirino-Arteaga (Palm Beach, FL) $429
  8. Steven Fostoff (Delray Beach, FL) $374
  9. Deborah Dana (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $330
  10. Charles Petruzzi (Deerfield Beach, FL) $292
  11. Scott Wyler (Ocean Reef, FL) $292
  12. Raul Jimenez-Diaz (Miami, FL) $292
More important than the cash (for Celso Leroy), was the 20.35 leaderboard points he earned for the second place finish.  He's now back atop the leaderboard, with a total of 71.55 points (less than four points ahead of Jeremy Ehrke (67.70).

  • Players start with 25,000 in tournament chips
  • Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
  • Alternates and late entries will start with a full stack
  • Levels will last (20) minutes

Sunday, March 21st: Jeremy Ehrke Takes A .5 Point Leaderboard Lead, After Topping Four-Way Deal In Last Night's $100 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD)

ICYMI: It's taken a long time, but our focus is shifting from the size of the prize pools (which have really become the "norm"), to what is happening with the Player Of The Month leaderboard.  After last night's win, David Albertson vaulted to the top spot, and gave himself a sizable cushion.  That would be short-lived though, as Jeremy Ehrke (Pompano Beach, FL) put on a performance during last night's $100 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD).  Ehrke was able to put himself in position to take home first place money, in a four-way chop of the event, besting a total of (143) entries.  First place money was obviously important to Jeremy, but so was the 34.35 leaderboard points he received, putting him ahead of Albertson by .5 point!!  Official results from the tournament are listed below:
  1. Jeremy Ehrke (Pompano Beach, FL) $2,576
  2. Seth Medoff (Pompano Beach, FL) $1,841
  3. Jose Rodriguez (Sunrise, FL) $1,131
  4. Emmanuel Varias (Tamarac. FL) $1,131
  5. Irwin Block (Jacksonville, FL) $526
  6. Ursula Buffa (Pompano Beach, FL) $440
  7. James Wolf (Plantation, FL) $381
  8. David Levinson (Boca Raton, FL) $338
  9. Chrystie Dario (Boynton Beach, FL) $300
  10. Roberto Alvarado (Pompano Beach, FL ) $263
  11. Jack Appel (Boca Raton, FL) $263
  12. Brian Dunn (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $263

Tournaments: The action for the $130 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" ($3,000 GTD) gets underway at 3:00pm, with another great crowd expected.  The tournament is structured with 20,000 unit starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and has registration open through Level 8 (and the break that follows).  Results from the event will be posted tomorrow morning, in Monday's blog update.

Promotions: From 10:00am (the minute the doors open) to 11:00pm, $300 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes. ICYMI: Updated Player Of The Month Leaderboard, Albertson Jumps To The Top!

Saturday, March 20th: David Albertson Claims Top Spot On Leaderboard, After Friday Night $5,000 GTD Tournament Win!

ICYMI: When the Player Of The Month tournament promotion was introduced to the Isle Casino Pompano Park poker room, an added element of competition was introduced.  As we reach the home-stretch, the leaderboard is seeing a major shift atop the rankings.  David Albertson (Coral Springs, FL) is a South Florida poker veteran, who has numerous accolades and awards under his belt...and he's hoping to add another one (after last night's outright win in the $150 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD).  The event attracted a total of (113) players, and had an official prize pool of $12,995.  Players had the $3,472 first place prize in their sights, but we primarily focused on being one of the fifteen to cash in the event.  If anyone has played with Albertson before, they would know that he's usually not interested in chopping, so get ready to play if he's got chips!

That's exactly what occurred last night, as any dealmaking was put aside, with Albertson taking down the tournament outright, and earning himself 30.19 leaderboard points (which puts him in the driver's seat).  Official results from the tournament are listed below:
  1. David Albertson (Coral Springs, FL) $3,472
  2. Debra Neser (Oakland Park, FL) $2,500

Tuesday, March 16th: David Lopez Takes Down The "Final Table Finish," Earning An Eye-Opening First Place Prize!

ICYMI: Last night's $250 No Limit Hold'em "Final Table Finish" ($10,000 GTD) showed exactly why this format is special.  There aren't many daily (if any) tournaments that offer a first place prize over $7,000, with only have to best a 99-entry field.  The tournament closed with exactly that number, and a $20,790 prize pool, which was to be spread across the final table (8-handed).  We talk about the incredible returns from this event, but this is the first we've seen the tournament play down to an outright winner.  David Lopez best Karin Powsner during heads-up play, to take home the $7,331 win, and almost 35 leaderboard points.  Official results from the event are listed below:

  1. David Lopez (Pembroke Pines, FL) $7,331
  2. Karin Powsner (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $5,143
  3. Perla Ojeda (Miami, FL) $2,079
  4. Garret Rogers (Coral Springs, FL) $1,455
  5. Rafael Rodriguez (Columbia) $1,455
  6. Andrew Daire (Boca Raton, FL) $1,247
  7. David Poces (Boca Raton, FL) $1,040
  8. Engelberth Varela (Coral Springs, FL) $1,040

Promotions: From 11:00am (the minute the doors open) until 11:00pm, $300 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes. Monday, March 15th: New Week Means Return Of $10,000 GTD Final Table Finish

ICYMI: It seems as if on Sunday, the posted guarantee is really just a formality, with official prize pools more than quadrupling the number two weeks in a row.  Yesterday's $130 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" ($3,000 GTD) saw registration close with (123) entries, which equated to an official prize pool of $12,300.  Sixteen players were going to earn player of the month leaderboard points, along with an Isle Casino Pompano Park recorded cash.  The final table action did last long, as a seven-way deal was agreed to, with Juan Quiroz (Boca Raton, FL) topping the deal.  Official results from the tournament are listed below:
  1. Juan Quiroz (Boca Raton, FL) $2,256
  2. Zaki Lichaa (New York, NY) $1,650
  3. Patricia Conrad (Royal Palm Beach, FL) $1,472
  4. Scott Hecker (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $1,368
  5. Karin Powsner (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $967
  6. Gregg Weiss (Delray Beach, FL) $952
  7. Jairo Velasquez (Sunrise, FL) $868
  8. Vicki Holmes (Boynton Beach, FL) $406
  9. Steven Fostoff (Delray Beach, FL) $357
  10. Raminder Singh (Delray Beach, FL) $314
  11. Jeremy Ehrke (Michigan) $314
  12. Steven Flacco (Delray Beach, FL) $314
  13. Andrew Daire (Boca Raton, FL) $274
  14. Dean Stevenson (Coral Springs, FL) $274
  15. Vladislaw Katz (Hallandale, FL) $274
  16. Walter Seidel (Pompano Beach, FL) $240
Tournaments: At 6:00pm this evening, the $250 No Limit Hold'em ($10,000 GTD) "Final Table Finish" is hosted for the third time.  It's not often that a new tournament variant is introduced, but this event is about as fresh and forward-thinking as they come, and players clearly were intrigued.  Last week's second-run attracted a total of (100) entries, and had a prize pool over $21,100!!!  First place was scheduled to take home over $8,000, but ended up taking just under $6,000 in a chop.

The event is structured with 20,000 chip starting stacks, (25) minute levels, and has open registration through Level 8 (and the break that follows).  The new wrinkle comes into play when discussing payouts, as the tournament will pay out just the final table, regardless of how many entries.  Exact payout percentages are as follows (final tables are now eight-handed):
  1. 40%
  2. 20%
  3. 10%
  4. 7%
  5. 7%
  6. 6%
  7. 5%
  8. 5%
If the field is larger than the number needed to reach the guarantee...those final table payouts just grow and grow!!! It's an incredible incentive to set that initial goal...make the final table...then focus on the win!

6:00pm: $250 No Limit Hold'em "Final Table Finish" ($10,000 GTD)
  • Players start with 20,000 in tournament chips
  • Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
  • Alternates and late entries will start with a full stack
  • Levels will last (25) minutes

Saturday, March 13th: David Albertson Records Another Isle Poker Room Tournament Win, With "Value-Town" Adding To It's Population

ICYMI: Since the re-opening of the poker room, there has been an influx of new names recording results, but we've seen a recent resurgence from the communities tournament veterans.  A week ago, it Raminder Singh, who added another tournament win to his resume...and last night it was David Albertson (Margate, FL).

Tournaments: The train to "value town" departs the station at 6:00pm, when the cards get in the air for the $100 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD).  Last week's Saturday evening tournament attracted (147) entries, and had a prize pool just under $11,025...for a $100 buy-in.  The payouts offered solid returns on investment, with first place taking home $2,018 (as part of a six-way chop).

The tournament is structured with 12,000 unit starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and has registration open through Level 8 (as well as the short break that follows).
