"November $100,000 II" (Day 2): The Final Five Agree To An ICM Chop!!! Dale Smith Declared Winner

"November $100,000 II"
$250 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 30 (Blinds 50,000/100,000/10,000)
Total Entries: 571
Players Remaining: 5

The five players to chop the "November $100,000 II" (from left to right): Dale Smith, Johnathan Steward, Francklin Michel, Michael Sugg, and Michael Sinisgalli.

After the elimination of Maan Thakur, the chop discussions started once again...but certain players insisted on an even chop.  Players then decided to look at the ICM numbers once more, and eventually did agree to a deal, with Dale Smith (Pompano Beach, FL) the declared winner.
  1. Dale Smith (Pompano Beach, FL) $16,281
  2. Johnathan Steward (Woodstock, GA) $11,607
  3. Michael Sinisgalli (Miami, FL) $11,519
  4. Francklin Michel (Miramar, FL) $10,676
  5. Michael Sugg (Boca Raton, FL) $10,477
The "November $100,000 II" winner (Dale Smith), who earned $16,281 for his efforts.

"November $100,000 II" (Day 2): Maan Thakur Elimainted In 6th Place ($4,345) By Dale Smith

"November $100,000 II"
$250 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 30 (Blinds 50,000/100,000/10,000)
Total Entries: 571
Players Remaining: 5

Mann Thakur (Boca Raton, FL) was under the radar for most of the day, keeping himself around the chip average as the field shrunk.  He would earn his second ever cash with this sixth place finish, and his first since last year's Florida State Poker Championship.

"November $100,000 II" (Day 2): Maclennan Out In 7th Place ($3,645), Talks Of Chop Once Again

"November $100,000 II"
$250 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 29 (Blinds 50,000/100,000/10,000)
Total Entries: 571
Players Remaining: 5

Charlie Maclennan (Canada) came into the day with only one recorded tournament cash, and almost doubles that score with his seventh place finish.

Charlie Maclennan (Canada) had made a habit of leaving himself short throughout the later stages of this tournament, calling raises...but leaving only two or three bigs behind.  It actually worked a handful of times, as players either led into him when he had hands on the flop, or felt the need to call him (very light) because the odds were right.  The plan backfired moments ago, as Maclennan called a raise from Dale Smith, with action going check-check after a Q♣ A♠ 7♠ flop.  Smith then bet enough on the turn to put Charlie all-in, to which Maclennan snapped.  This time he would be behind, as Smith tabled A 3, well ahead of Charlie's K Q♠.  The turn would bring paint, but the J♠ was no help to Maclennan, who exited the final table in sixth place.

"November $100,000 II" (Day 2): After Talks Of Chop Fail, Paul Vieira Busts In 8th Place ($2,950)

"November $100,000 II"
$250 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 29 (Blinds 40,000/80,000/10,000)
Total Entries: 571
Players Remaining: 7

Paul Vieira (Wethersfeld, FL) focuses primarily on cash games, but just earned his second tournament cash of the year, turning the $250 entry into a $2,950 score.

The clock was paused so players could discuss an ICM chop, with the numbers read aloud to the remaining group.  There were a couple of detractors that wanted to do an even chop, and even though negotiations continued, the group could not come to an agreement.  The cards would be back in the air once again, and just over ten minutes after play resumed, Paul Vieira (Wethersfeld, FL) would be eliminated in eighth place ($2,950).

"November $100,000 II" (Day 2): Becks Exits In 9th Place ($2,255), Eliminated By Dale Smith

"November $100,000 II"
$250 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 28 (Blinds 30,000/60,000/5,000)
Total Entries: 571
Players Remaining: 8

With the blind to stack ratio what it currently is (chip average is just over twenty bigs), a lot of the player's decisions are made for them.  Eric Becks looked down to 9 9♠, and with less than fifteen bigs, he'd shove from early position.  Eric would get called by Dale Smith, and would be flipping for his tournament life, against Dale's A♠ Q♠.  The queen high flop would bring a disgusted look to Eric's face, as he began to walk away from the table, before the runout was even completed.

Becky would earn $2,255 for his ninth place finish, with the remaining eight players currently discussing a potential chop.

"November $100,000 II" (Day 2): Michael Sugg Eliminates Mike Jones In 10th Place ($1,905)

"November $100,000 II"
$250 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 28 (Blinds 30,000/60,000/5,000)
Total Entries: 571
Players Remaining: 9

Mike Jones (Boca Raton, FL) was the shortest stack at the final table, and when action folded around to him in the small blind, he would shove for 250,000 (just over four bigs).  Michael Sugg quickly made the call out of the big blind, and would be ahead with K 2 against the Q♣ 3♠ of Jones.  The board would run out clean for Sugg, whose king-high would end up good enough to win the pot.  Jones collected $1,905 for his tenth place finish, and ends up the last player to receive a "grouped" payout.  The remaining nine players will see a pay jump with each elimination, with the next person to bust receiving $2,255.

10. Mike Jones (Boca Raton, FL) $1,905
11. Sylvain Fontaine (Quebec, Canada) $1,905
12. Elliot Goldman (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $1,905

"November $100,000 II" (Day 2): Sinisgalli Rivers Sylvain Fontaine, Final Table Reached

"November $100,000 II"
$250 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 27 (Blinds 25,000/50,000/5,000)
Total Entries: 571
Players Remaining: 10

Sylvain Fountaine was all-in and at risk against Michael Sinisgalli, holding A♣ Q♠ against K♣ J♠.  The dealer would fan out a flop of 5 8 9♠, and while Sylvain's hand was still in the lead, he stared down at the board with a nervous look.  The Q on the turn would give him a favorable lead, as Sinisgalli now needed one of the final three kings in the deck to appear on the river.  Appear it did, as Sylvain jumped from his seat, almost falling over as he screamed in disapproval.

That elimination would leave ten players remaining, with the final table redraw occurring moments ago.  Posted below are the new seating assignments (post re-draw):
  1. Francklin Michel
  2. Mike Jones
  3. Michael Sugg
  4. Charlie Maclennan

  6. Maan Thakur

Antoine Bahi (Deerfield Beach, FL) started his tournament resume with a $12,000 score, after chopping a $350 No Limit Hold'em event during the 2013 Florida State Poker Championships.

Thomas Gari is 33rd on the "all-time cashes" list here at the Isle Poker Room, and would definitely be considered one of the veterans of the room.  He consistently makes deep runs in events here, and holds one Isle Poker tournament title.  Thomas was looking to reach yet another final table, but had his effort cut short moments ago, eliminated by Antoine Bahi (Deerfield Beach, FL).  Gari was all-in for less than five big blinds, and would be flipping with 4 4 against Bahi's A Q.  The A♣ A 2♣ 2 K runout would be Gari's last, as Antoine chipped up to 900,000 (30 big blinds).

Antoine Bahi - 920,000 (30bb)

Michael Sinisgalli (Miami, FL) made a massive call with bottom pair against a 600,000 river shove, which was good to eclipse the 1,000,000 chip mark.  Moments later, he would eliminate David Maslowski, sending the field into it's first redraw of the day.

Eric Becks (Plantation, FL) came into the day in the top fifteen on the chip counts, but has since vaulted to the second largest stack of the remaining players.

The tagline on Eric Beck's (Plantation, FL) Twitter handle states "Poker and Crypto," referencing the cryptocurrency market, which is of interest for the poker community.  Since returning from the first break of the day, Eric has acted like Bitcoin...and made a steady rise.  Becks in second in chips amongst the (32) players that remain, and is finding a new home at Table 3 (after being pulled from his upcoming big blind to balance).

Becks has just over $186,000 in live tournament earnings, highlighted by a runner-up finish in Event #10 of the 2015 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open ($570 No Limit Hold'em | $154,966).  Eric has some good luck on the rail as well, with his father watching on, as he hopes to continue this deep run.

Avery Bass (Atlantic Beach, FL) was all-in for less than seven big blinds, just fifteen minutes ago, but now is creeping towards the chip average (271,000).

Just moments ago at Table 3, Avery Bass was all-in for 48,000, with Tom Gity putting him at risk with a call.  Avery was ahead with A 9 against the A♣ 8♣ of Gity, with the dealer fanning out a flop of 10♣ 9♣ 9♠.  While Bass flopped trips, Gity still was drawing to a flush, and had to remaining streets to get there.  Tom's hopes of coming back were squashed with the 9 on the turn, sealing Avery's double up with quads.

Bass would gain some breathing room, with a stack just over 100,000, but his upward climb didn't stop there.  He went on to win three more hands in the next orbit, and now has just over 240,000, which is just over two big blinds from the chip average.

Francklin Michel (Miami, FL) made himself a notable during the Isle Open (in October), cashing in four events...three of which were final table finishes.

There aren't many players who look for "blog love" more than Francklin Michel (Miami, FL), but he's worked hard this afternoon to get his photo taken.  Michel started the day with the second largest stack (364,000), and has since doubled that over the first two hours of play.  Michel is coming off of a breakout series, reaching three final tables during October's Isle Open.  His largest cash came during Event #15 ($1,100 No Limit Hold'em), where he finished in seventh place, earning himself $5,896.

Michel's 750,000 stack more than 200,000 clear of his nearest competitor (Steven Touitou), and equates to (75) big blinds, which is heaps (as the chip average sits just above 25 big blinds).

Francklin Michel - 750,000

Eddie Medoff (Margate, FL) eliminated Wilmer Diaz on the money bubble, keeping the field from having to enter hand-for-hand play.

The tournament supervisor made an announcement for dealers to complete the hand they were on, and then pause...which meant that the field was on the stone bubble (and hand-for-hand play was going to begin).  There were two tables that were still active moments after the announcement, one of which was Table 2.  As the table was approached, Flight 1A chip leader Wilmer Diaz shoved on the river (of a board reading KQ 10♠ 2 7♠), against Eddie Medoff (who had him covered).

Media quickly made the call, tabling his hand (J 9), having flopped a straight.  Diaz pushed his cards into the muck (without showing), and tapped the table as he exited.  Diaz's elimination meant that the field could pass on hand-for-hand play, as everyone left was in the money.  The (53) players that remained are all guaranteed at least $485, but everyone's eyes are on the $22,530 up top.

The official results will be posted here on the blog (at each pay jump), with updated action continuing through the tournament's conclusion.

Tom Millward (Boca Raton, FL) was one of five players to utilize this afternoon's Day 2 buy-in, joining a group that included his son Chad Millward.

The headline that reads "Day 2 buy-in makes deep run" is becoming commonplace in the events that allow it, and although entering this afternoon would equate to less than ten bigs, five players decided to take a shot.  Those players that jumped in before the cards got in the air are listed below:

Tom Millward
Chad Millward
Sergio Amato
Juan Garcia
Christine DiFiore

With the field now six eliminations away from the money, both Tom Millward and Sergio Amato are still in the running to reach that point.  While both players are pretty short, they are both sitting with above ten big blinds, and have some fold equity with their stacks.  One player that both of the noted Day 2 buy-ins outlasted was Changfei Cui, who actually came into Day 2 with the sixth largest stack of those returning (300,500).  Cui busted moments ago, but can still parlay that opening flight finish into a big score, with his entry into this week's $340 No Limit Hold'em Package Satellite.
