Wednesday, February 28th: After The Single-Ante Crushes, We Wrap Up The Final Day Of February

ICYMI: Tuesday's tournament action began with a $100 No Limit Hold'em event, which boasted a $3,000 guaranteed prize pool.  The trend of large afternoon crowds continued, as (49) entries made up the field, which equated to a $3,675 prize pool.  Once the payouts were posted on the tournament clock, players learned that seven places were going to reach the money.  Action would continue through the money bubble, and played down to the point where Marc Wolfe and Thomas Symonds were heads up.  Rather than playing for the outright title, the two agreed to a heads-up deal, with Wolfe earning the larger share, and "first place" honors.  Listed below are the results from the event:
  1. Marc Wolfe (Miami, FL) $1,179
  2. Thomas Symonds (Nova Scotia, Canada) $989
  3. Joseph Mancuso (Deerfield Beach, FL) $496
  4. Daniel Genachte (Deerfield Beach, FL) $349
  5. Cathy Miller (Jupiter, FL) $276
  6. Sean Mooney (Wellington, FL) $221
  7. Beverly Loder (Pembroke Pines, FL) $165
The evening time slot (6:00pm) hosted the final headlining tournament of the money, which was a $175 No Limit Hold'em Single-Ante ($25,000 GTD).  The posted guarantee was surpassed in Level 4, with the final number official closing at (268) entries!!  The prize pool ballooned all the way up to $36,716, and ended up offering a first place prize of $8,285.  The top eight spots were all scheduled to take home more than $1,000, but the final payouts were eventually altered shortly after the final table was reached.  A seven-way deal was agreed to, with Tiago Aguiar (Boca Raton, FL) topping the group, earning $5,050 for his first place prize.  The rest of the final table results are listed below, with the full results submitted to Hendon Mob (and posted in about 24 hours):
  1. Tiago Aguiar (Boca Raton, FL) $5,050
  2. Greg McCann (Pompano Beach, FL) $4,346
  3. Rajesh Desai (Randolph, NJ) $3,310
  4. Anthony Zambrowski (Chandler, AZ) $3,300
  5. Robert Transue (North Lauderdale, FL) $3,265
  6. Kasey Klinkel (Kenner, LA) $2,974
  7. Richard Canario (Lighthouse Point, FL) $2,381
  8. Mauricio Duarte (Coral Gables, FL) $1,028
  9. Taylor Emling (Hillsboro Beach, FL) $829
  10. Pascuale Caiazza (Davie, FL) $698

Tournaments: Today's recurring schedule starts at 11:00am, with one of the larger guaranteed...and better structured afternoon tournaments, that player will find in the area.  The $150 buy-in event carries a $5,000 guarantee, and is structured with starting stacks of 20,000 units, and levels that last (20) minutes in length.  This is one of the first times we are seeing this event in the afternoon time slot, so it will be interesting to see how the showing is.

After making it's appearance on the recurring schedule for the first time in months, the $150 Pot Limit Omaha ($3,000 GTD) event returns to the Wednesday evening time slot.  The tournament is structured with starting stacks of 12,000 units, and levels that last (20) minutes over the course of the evening.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that started back on November 1st, players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand!!!  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
