Thursday, June 29th: Oleg's Outright Win, $20,000 GTD Preps Players For Big Holiday Weekend

ICYMI: Yesterday's tournament action kicked off at 11:00am with the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" ($3,000 GTD), and event that saw registration close with (49) total entries.  The $3,773 prize pool surpassed the guaranteed number, and offered up a prize pool that broke down into seven pay spots.  While seven players were scheduled to reach the money, discussions of a deal began  on the money bubble.  The numbers seemed to work for everyone remaining, and a chop was agreed to, with Claude Ferland (Boca Raton, FL) the "declared winner" (earning $635).

  1. Claude Ferland (Boca Raton, FL) $635
  2. Todd Kasten (Boynton Beach, FL) $586
  3. Duane Minerva (Delray Beach, FL) $552
  4. Arnold Cohen (West Palm Beach, FL) $461
  5. Andres Julian (Hollywood, FL) $421
  6. Vincent Lobianco (Coconut Creek, FL) 4408
  7. Allen Chernotsky (Boca Raton, FL) $381
  8. Stacey Thomas (Jupiter, FL) $329
The $60 No Limit Hold'em ($10,000 GTD) tournament has occupied the Wednesday evening time slot each week this month, but last night's installment was unlike it's counterparts that came before.  The field was comprised of (238) entries, which equated to a prize pool of $11,182, with (30) players scheduled to reach the money in the event.  Players that earned a min-cash in the tournament would walk away with $77, while all eyes were on the top prize, which was worth $2,614.  Notables to notch another score on their resume (short of the final table) included Nicholas Persad, Melissa Mancini, Maxim Bjelos, Bill Seiden, and Richard Schmitt.  What made last night's event different, was the fact that action continued until just one player remained.  While deal discussion may have occurred, at no point could players come to an agreement that would wrap up the event (so things were settled the old fashioned way).  Oleg Efremov (Oakland Park, FL) would be the last player standing, besting Rita Balbirer (Coral Springs, FL) heads-up.
  1. Oleg Efremov (Oakland Park, FL) $2,614
  2. Rita Balbirer (Coral Springs, FL) $1,836
  3. Kevin McGillicuddy (Tamarac, FL) $1,146
  4. Debra Neser (Boynton Beach, FL) $697
  5. Omar Sader (Pompano Beach, FL) $538
  6. Luis Mantilla (Plantation, FL) $446
  7. Michael Sischo (Deerfield Beach, FL) $380
  8. Vincent Green (Boynton Beach, FL) $324
  9. Donald Gordon (Boynton Beach, FL) $261
  10. Alexander Thomas (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $224
Tournaments: Two tournaments make up the "daily" schedule today, with the $80 No Limit Hold'em w/ $10 Bounties ($1,500 GTD) getting underway at 11:00am.  The day's headliner comes at 6:00pm though, when the cards get in the air for the $130 No Limit Hold'em ($20,000 GTD).  Since appearing on the tournament calendar, this event has consistently drawn large fields, and even larger payouts.  Players sit down to 16,000 unit starting stacks for this event, and play (20) minute levels throughout the evening.

Promotions: Today's "special" promotion (outside of the standard high hands), is the Limit Hold'em Early Bird, in which the first (50) full houses (in a limit hold'em game) are paid the minimum buy-in for the designated game.  Those players in the 2/2 LHE game will receive $20 for each "winning" full house (or better), while those in 2/4 LHE will receive $40.
