Monday, June 12th: "June $50,000 GTD" Ends With A Chop, Back To Regularly Scheduled Action

ICYMI: The "June $50,000 GTD" was a $75 No Limit Hold'em event that ran from June 8th-11th, with nine starting flights over the course of three days.  The combined field of 1,725 entries equated to a prize pool over $90,000, which was almost double the $50,000 guarantee that was posted on the tournament.  A total of (236) players returned for yesterday's Day 2, with the field just (10) eliminations from the money.  The first group of players to cash in the tournament were scheduled to get $90, while the top prize in the tournament was posted at $14,293.

There were nine players to bag chip lead bonuses from their respective starting flights, and those were the storylines to start the day.  Mo Majid (Parkland, FL), who was the overall Day 2 chip leader (to start the day), immediately picked up where he left off.  Majid was the first player to eclipse the 500,000 mark, as well as the 1,000,000 chip mark...and this was all happening while others were doing their best just to stay around chip average.  As the tournament continued on though, and the blinds increased at a rapid rate, Majid's stack began to slip, while everyone else around him was catching up.  Majid ended up busting the tournament in 48th place, and would earn $216 for his efforts.  When players reached their dinner break, just under (30) players remained, many of which had reached the elusive "millionaires club."  The return to action saw players experience the "turbo" structured dramatics, with thirty big blind stacks go down to eight bigs, and back up again.  Juan Martell (Deltona, FL) was down to 120,000 at one point (which was less than two big blinds), but managed to grow that stack back over 1,000,000.  Lisa Teebagy (Boca Raton, FL) did the same exact thing, turning three blinds into ten, and eventually a final table payout.

When play reached the ten-handed final table, it was Andrew Blake (Delray Beach, FL) who held close to one-third of all the chips in play.  While discussions of a deal occurred, there were some detractors that squashed the talks.  After two final table eliminations though (Adlay Lago and Yves Fequiere), the talks resumed, and a deal was made.  The exact numbers, along with official order of finish are listed below:

  1. Andrew Blake (Delray Beach, FL) $9,613
  2. Washington Gavilanes (Margate, FL) $7,653
  3. Joseph Latona (Delray Beach, FL) $6,404
  4. Andrew Davis (Delray Beach, FL) $6,071
  5. Juan Martell (Deltona, FL) $5,074
  6. Lisa Teebagy (Boca Raton, FL) $4,500
  7. Jonathan Kranker (Port St. Lucie, FL) $4,196
  8. Jacob Thomas (Sunrise, FL) $3,118

Tournaments: The $80 No Limit Hold'em w/ $10 Bounties ($2,000 GTD) is in it's regularly scheduled spot this afternoon, with the cards getting in the air at 11:00am.  The structure is still the same, with starting stacks of 12,000 units, and levels of (20) minutes throughout.  That tournament is followed by one of the most popular events with the players, the $60 No Limit Hold'em ($10,000 GTD).  This particular tournament has been played on both Tuesdays and Thursdays in the past, and has had a $12,000 guarantee.  It's a new day and new guarantee, but the structure stays the same (12,000 unit starting stacks, and (20) minute levels).

Promotions: Outside of the "standard high hand" promotion, there will be "Turbo High Hands" from 9:00am-12:00pm.  During that window of time, $100 will be awarded to the qualifying high hand every (10) minutes (rollovers apply).

11:00am - $80 No Limit Hold'em w/ $10 Bounties ($2,000 GTD)

- Players will begin with a 10,000 starting stack
- Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
- Option player "add-on" at the end of Level 8 ($20 for 8,000 tournament chips), with 100% of the "add-on" going to the prize pool
- Levels are (20) minutes in length

- Players will begin with a 12,000 starting stack
- Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
- Optional player "add-on" at the end of Level 8 ($20 for 8,000 tournament chips), with 100% of the "add-on" going to the prize pool
-  Levels are (20) minutes in length

"June $50,000 GTD" (Day 2): ICM Sounded Better Than Expected

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 33 (Blinds 80,000/160,000/20,000)
Players Remaining: 8/1,725

The eight players to chop up the $75 No Limit Hold'em "June $50,000 Guarantee." Everyone pictured walks out with over $3,118.

The chop may have been shut down a half hour ago, but discussions once again started after the elimination of Adlay Lago.  Once the numbers were put into an ICM application, each of the players agreed to the number laid out in front of them.  Andrew Blake (Delray Beach, FL) is declared the tournament's winner, and heads home with $9,613.
  1. Andrew Blake (Delray Beach, FL) $9,613
  2. Washington Gavilanes (Margate, FL) $7,653
  3. Joseph Latona (Delray Beach, FL) $6,404
  4. Andrew Davis (Delray Beach, FL) $6,071

Adlay Lago (Miami, FL) 9th Place - $1,428

Adlay's last two cashes were in $75 No Limit Hold'em events (2014 and 2015), with his last tournament cash coming two years.  This is clearly an event he likes, and just earned the second largest score of his career with the $1,428 finish.

"June $50,000 GTD" (Day 2): Blake Has "All The Chips"

"June $50,000 GTD"

Andrew Blake (Delray Beach, FL)

Talks of a chop were floating around the final table, but things were quickly shut down by some detractors at the table.  One player who may have a hard time envisioning a chop at the moment is Andrew Blake (Delray Beach, FL), who has close to 1/3 of the chips in play.  There is just under 26,000,000 in play at this final table, and Blake has close to 8,500,000 of it.

Blake also has the tournament pedigree to believe he's the runaway favorite to at least get heads-up.  Blake has over $180,000 in lifetime tournament earnings, including a 3rd place finish in the $1,100 No Limit Hold'em Six-Max event during the Hard Rock Poker Showdown ($12,053).

Lisa Teebagy (Boca Raton, FL)
Lisa Teebagy returned from dinner with over 1,300,000, but spent the first (15) minutes of Level 29 trending in the wrong direction.  Lisa was just all-in for 275,000, and was called by Andrew Davis and Joe Latona.

The action checked through the runout of J♠ 8♠ 9 8♣ A♣, with Davis turning over 4♠ 4♣ and Latona 5♠ 5♣.  Lisa then rolled over her J J♠, and scooped in the pot worth over 800,000.  That brings Teebagy to ten big blinds, but with the level transitioning in just seconds, her stack gets shallower.

Lisa Teebagy - 860,000

Players Remaining: 84/1,725

Patricia Basilio (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)
Just moments after featuring Tom Millward on the blog, he got into a pot with Patrcia Basilio worth just over 500,000.  The two would be all-in on a flop of J 10 5, with Millward having flopped a set of fives (5 5), and Basilio holding A A.

The turn would bring another club, giving Basilio the lead, and a potential double up.  The river was the 2, and Basilio would watch as the dealer cut down her stack for Millward to match.

Pat Basilio - 540,000
Tom Millward - 50,000

Millward is just one of a group of players experiencing a very roller coaster day.  Raminder Singh was seemingly cruising to start the day, and amassed a stack of 450,000 within only a few levels.  After moving to Table 2, it only took a couple of hands for Singh to drop down to 90,000 (after losing a big pot to Scott Hecker).  Raminder than proceeded to run that up to 300,000, and now sits with just over (12) big blinds (250,000).

"June $50,000 GTD" (Day 2): Little Father/Son Bonding Time

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em

Chad Millward (pictured left) and Tom Millward find themselves neighbors at Table 9

Both Tom Millward (Boca Raton, FL) and his son Chad have played numerous tournaments together in the past, but it hasn't been confirmed if they've ever ended up shoulder to shoulder at the same table.  Both Millwards' came into the day with above average stacks, and while Tom spent some time in the top five, he's now grinding a (16) big blind stack...very similar to his son.

Tom Millward - 270,000
Chad Millward - 255,000

$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 20 (Blinds 6,000/12,000/2,000)
Players Remaining: 134/1,725

Changfei Cui (Kendall, FL)

There has been one constant since the beginning of Day 2, and that is Mo Majid.  Majid has been the first player to accomplish numerous tournament milestones to this point.  He just became the first player in the field over 1,000,000, and has 1,114,000 neatly stacked in front of him.  A handful of players have coasted to the top of the tournament leaderboard, include Changfei Cui (Kendall, FL).

Cui started the day with just over 60,000 in chips, and was able to manage his way into the money.  Once the bubble burst, Cui began increasing his stack, but it wasn't until he reached Table 11 that his day shifted.  Cui stayed alive by hitting a one-outer on the river to win a 300,000 pot, and hasn't looked back (now sitting with 480,000).

Mo Majid - 1,114,000
Erin Steinberg - 670,000
Andrew Davis - 640,000
Washington Galivanes - 540,000
Changefei Cui - 480,000
Danilo  Parada - 430,000

Players will be taking their second break of the day at the conclusion of this level (Level 20), and will return to blinds of 8,000/16,000/2,000.
