Jamie Wiegrefe (Miami, FL) is commonly known in the poker community as "Thor," not only because of the look, but also the hammer that he uses as a card protector.  Jamie returned from break with 140,000, but since increased that number to over 300,000.  Wiegrefe currently leads the field, and is almost 75,000 clear of his nearest competitor (Anthony Abda - 226,000).

Wiegrefe is coming off a successful Battles At The Beach series, where he cashed in two events, including Event #10 ($560 No Limit Hold'em Single-Ante).  Jamie reached the final table of that tournament, finishing in fourth place, and earning himself $4,024.  Thor's career earnings are just north of $46,000, with his career highlighting score coming last year, during the Isle Poker Room's $360 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD) last November.

Big stacks will usually steer clear of each other in these opening stages of a multi-flight tournaments, but that wasn't the case between Julian Wohlgemuth (pictured left), and Elliot Zaydman (not pictured).

It looked as if Elliot Zaydman (Coconut Creek, FL) was going to take a sizable chip lead into the flight's final break, but that was before he got tangled in a hand with Julian Wohlgemuth.  Elliot would find his stack go from 130,000 to 90,000 after the confrontation, with Julian chipping up to 180,000.  Wohlgemuth's stack makes him the current favorite in the race for the chip lead bonus, with four more levels of play remaining after break.  Once the cards are back in the air for Level 13, we will bring you a second look at updated chip counts from the field.

Dwight Pinkerton's (Boca Raton, FL) last five tournament cashes have come here at the Isle Poker Room, including three final table finishes.

As we reach the later stages of the flight, the field is shrinking by the minute, with Zaki Lichaa the most recent elimination.  Lichaa shoved from early position (for just over 15,000), with action folding around to Dwight Pinkerton, who made the call.  The button and blinds folded behind, as both players then tabled their hands:

Considering the underdog Zaki was as they headed to the runout, the flop and turn were pretty favorable for him (without just hitting an ace to take the lead).  Lichaa ended up missing his outs on the river through, meaning he'd be eliminated from Flight 1A play.  "I just can't get anything going at this place," Lichaa said, as he headed towards the exits.  That may be a little of an understatement though, considering that (40) of his (49) recorded cashes came in this poker room.

Joshua Dichkewich (West Palm Beach, FL) has over $14,000 in lifetime tournament earnings, but hasn't recorded a cash since August of 2017.

Frank Scala (Boca Raton, FL) was sitting with a stack just over chip average to start Level 10, but was just eliminated from Flight 1A play.  After doubling up Donald Williams (as his A♠ 10♠ was bested by J♦ 10♦), Scala would shove 11,900 over an open from Joshua Dichkewich.  Players folded back around to Joshua, who made the call, and put Scala at risk:

David Hixson (Hollywood, FL) has (24) recorded tournament results on his resume, half of which have come at the Isle Poker Room.

We are only four levels into the day, so it may be a little early to discuss the chip lead, but David Hixson (Hollywood, FL) is off to a start that can't be ignored.  Hixson, who has been in great form this year, has already tripled his 18,000 unit starting stack. David has over $90,000 in lifetime tournament earnings, thanks to a good start to 2018.  Hixson first made a deep run in January's $250 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD), finishing in 21st place for $1,430.  He has since shipped two recurring tournaments, taking down an $80 No Limit Hold'em ($779) event during the first week of February, and following that up with a win the next week in a $100 No Limit Hold'em event ($1,510).

Jose Parra (Hialeah Gardens, FL) owns a pastry shop in Hialeah Gardens, that pumps out some of the delicate offerings one will find in South Florida.

Jose Parra's (Hialeah Gardens, FL) name is one that we've seen in countless events over the last two years, ranging in buy-ins from $120, all the way up to $2,500.  Parra gladly adds his name to the "who loves it more list," as he does not discriminate against any poker tournament available.  The pastry shop owner from Hialeah works some crazy hours (most days arriving to his shop at 3:00am), but always finds time to mix it up in poker tournaments.

Jose has over $183,000 in lifetime tournament earnings, spanning a total of (40) recorded results, since 2011.  His career highlighting score came just over five years ago, when he finished runner-up in the $3,300 No Limit Hold'em Battles At The Beach Main Event ($90,288).  A first place finish in this tournament would likely help Jose reach a personal milestone, as he could potentially eclipse the $200,000 mark in career earnings.  There is a long way to go before we can discuss Jose winning this event, as he first needs to find a bag for Sunday.  Outside of Parra, some other notables hoping to secure a few days off after this flight include:

Shlomo Maman (N. Miami, FL) had great success in last month's $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD), which was part of the 2018 Battles At The Beach schedule.

Just over a month ago, the 2018 Battles At The Beach series was starting, with a $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD) kicking off the action.  The tournament, which mirrors this event we are currently covering (in schedule and structure), ended up attracting (958) entries, and closed with an official prize pool of $122,610.  The event ended in a five-way deal, with Shlomo Maman (N. Miami, FL) winning his first ever Isle Poker "major."  The trophy win was worth $15,615, which was equal to about half of Shlomo's career earnings at the time.  It was Maman's first five-figure score since 2011, when he made a deep run in a $10,000 No Limit Hold'em tournament during the Seminole Hard Rock Showdown (34th Place - $27,019).

Before delving into today's action, we are going to give blog followers a brief reminder about next week's big tournament.  The $1,100 No Limit Hold'em Single-Ante ($200,000 GTD) is the poker room's first multi-flight event to use the single-ante format, which has become so popular since introducing it to the Florida poker community last August.  The $1,100 price point is also running outside of the series for the first time ever, boasting a very healthy guaranteed prize pool of $200,000.  If that number seems a little out of reach for players, there are numerous (which is an understatement) opportunities to join for a fraction of the prize.  Beginning on April 23rd (Monday), and running through the final opening day of the tournament, a wide array of satellites are offered for players.  The above structure sheet and flyer list all of the information players would need to know in regards to the tournament.

It's been a while since the poker room has hosted a multi-day tournament, but now three weeks removed from the 2018 Battles At The Beach, the cards are in the air for the $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD).  The month's first multi (with the $1,100 No Limit Hold'em Single-Ante next week) is structured with starting stacks of 18,000 units, and levels that will last (25) minutes over the course of the event.  Registration is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows), with the day scheduled to end at the conclusion of Level 16 (or if the 10% mark is reached).  There are eight starting flights over the next four days, with an afternoon (11:00am) and evening (6:00pm) flight each day (Wednesday through Saturday).  Players that successfully bag chips for Day 2 will be returning this Sunday, with action resuming at 12:00pm.  The chip lead bonus is also back, with the top stack from each starting flight, earning a seat into next week's $1,100 No Limit Hold'em Single-Ante ($200,000 GTD).

The action has started off fast this afternoon, with forty entries in the first ten minutes alone.  Live blogged coverage will be offered throughout the rest of this flight, along with each of the afternoon flights to follow (Flight 1C, Flight 1E, and Flight 1G).  As we allow the tournament area to fill up, a quick look at next week's event will be featured during the next level's update.

ICYMI: Tuesday's recurring tournament schedule started at 11:00am, with a $100 No Limit Hold'em event, that had a $3,000 guaranteed prize pool.  Notable after notable would file into the tournament area while registration was open, with the field growing to a total of (40) entries.  The $3,000 prize pool was spread across five pay spots, with first place scheduled to take home $1,230.  Once in the money, action would play through the eliminations of Daniel Genachte and Ira Horowitz, before a three-way deal was agreed to.  Edgard "Corona" Mendes (Deerfield Beach, FL) topped the chop, earning himself $958 for first place money.  Official results from the tournament are listed below:

Tournaments: Today starts the $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD), which is the month's first multi-day tournament.  There will be eight flights over the next four days, with players that successfully bag chips, returning on Sunday for Day 2.  The tournament is structured with starting stacks of 18,000 units, and levels that will last (25) minutes over the course of the tournament.  Registration is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows), with the opening flights scheduled to play through Level 16 (or unless the 10% mark is reached before that point).  The chip lead bonus is back in a big way, as the largest stack bagged from each flight, will earn a seat into next week's $1,100 No Limit Hold'em Single-Ante ($200,000 GTD).  The next four days will have two flights each, with an afternoon flight (11:00am), and an evening flight (6:00pm).  Live blogged coverage will be available during each afternoon flight, as well as Day 2 (detailed coverage).

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that started back on November 1st, players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand!!!  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).

Tuesday, April 17th: Michael Corbett Tops Afternoon Chop, As We Play Final Recurring Events Before April's First Multi

ICYMI: Monday's tournament action kicked off (at 11:00am) with an $80 No Limit Hold'em event, which boasted a $2,500 guaranteed prize pool.  There were (34) entries in the field during the first level of play, so it was no surprise when the posted number was surpassed short of registration's close.  The final number would close at (49) entries, and an official prize pool of $2,793, with first place scheduled take home $1,034.  Eight players were in line to reach the money, and after the elimination of Ilia Belkin (Aventura, FL) in eight place, the remaining players agreed to a seven-way chop.  Isle Poker tournament regular Michael Corbett (Ft. Tournaments: Tuesday's tournament action begins (at 11:00am) with a $100 No Limit Hold'em event, that has a $3,000 guaranteed prize pool.  The tournament is structured with starting stacks of 14,000 units, and levels that last (20) minutes over the course of the afternoon.

That event is followed (at 6:00pm) by an $80 No Limit Hold'em tournament, which will run with a $2,500 guarantee.  This is the same tournament that was run yesterday afternoon, and carries the same structure, with (20) minute levels and 12,000 unit starting stacks.  Yesterday's installment had a first place prize just under $1,160, with an even larger prize pool expected this evening.

Monday, April 16th: Only Two Days Away From The Month's First Multi, Recurring Tournament Action Continues

ICYMI: Sunday's tournament action kicked off (at 11:00am) with the $120 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack," which had a $3,000 guaranteed prize pool.  The field would be comprised of (32) entries, which equated to a prize pool that fell directly on the posted number ($3,000).  A total of four players were scheduled to reach the money, with a min-cash walking away with $330, and $1,350 up top.  Those numbers would be altered though, as a six-way chop was agreed to, headed by Brett Feldman (Boynton Beach, FL).  Details of the deal are listed below:

ICYMI: Saturday's tournament action began at 11:00am, with players arriving for the $130 No Limit Hold'em Survivor, where 1 in 10 entries equated to a $1,000 payout.  After registration closed with (29) entries, the remaining players would be vying for one of three pay spots...two worth $1,000, and one worth $900.  Once play reached the money bubble, the four players left agreed to a deal, with the official results listed below:

ICYMI: Friday's tournament schedule kicked off (at 11:00am) with the $120 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack," which boasted a $3,000 guaranteed prize pool.  Considering that the "Monster Stack" is one of the most popular events on the recurring schedule, nobody was surprised when the guarantee was surpassed halfway through open registration.  The field would eventually close with (39) entries, which equated to a prize pool of $3,588.  Six players were scheduled to reach the money, with a deal agreed to immediately after the bubble burst.  Tournament regular Rick Kalgstein (Sunrise, FL) would earn first place in the chop, with notables Daniel Genacthe and Zaki Lichaa rounding out the top three.  Full results from the tournament are listed below:
