Yes...the $360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD) has gotten off to a slow start, but there are still three flights remaining, and a lot of time left for the field to grow.  With (94) total entries to this point, the field is still (240) entries away from the number need to reach the guarantee.  A total of (9) players have bagged chips for Monday's Day 2, led by Tracy Scala, who packed away 370,500 to end Flight 1C.

Flight 1D will be getting underway in just a moment, with a new group of players hoping to earn a day off (after bagging chips for Day 2).  The structure stays the same for the event, with 20,000 unit starting stacks, (30) minute levels, and registration that's open until the beginning of Level 9.  Each of the starting flights will play down to 8% of the field, with 12.5% making the money on Day 1.  That is the one change in this particular event, from prior tournaments that used the same structure, as those events played down to 5%.  Players were very vocal about the length of time that those flights took to get down to 5%, so that number was raised to 8%.  Things should not take entirely as long, making this tournament's structure more "player-friendly."

So rumblings of a potential overlay have been heard...and the possibility is there for some "free money," with today's pair of flights a good gauge of what will end up happening.  Regardless, the value is very much there in this tournament, with the final two flights expected to bring out the massive numbers.

Saturday, September 8th: All Eyes On The $360 NLH ($100,000 GTD), As Numbers Are Needed To Reach Guarantee

ICYMI: Friday's tournament schedule saw the completion of the second and third opening flights, for the $360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD).  It just so happened, that each of the flights had registration close with (33) entries, meaning three players from each flight would bag chips for Day 2 (and two players would earn Day 1 payouts).  The official chip counts from each flight are posted below:

Now at the midway point of the tournament (three of six flights), the official numbers see a total of (94) entries, and a prize pool of $28,200.  That is still less than a third of the way to the posted guarantee of $100,000, but with three of the largest flights remaining, the discussion of an overlay is still more of a "whisper." 

Tournaments: The day's action begins at 11:00am, with Flight 1D of the $360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD).  The fourth starting flight of the tournament is structured with 20,000 unit starting stacks, levels that last (30) minutes, and has registration open through Level 8 (and the break that follows).  

A $90 No Limit Hold'em Satellite into the $360 NLH ($100,000 GTD) then follows at 2:00pm, offering the opportunity for players to join the action for a fraction of the cost.  The satellite is structured with 10,000 unit starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and has registration open through Level 8.

The fifth starting flight (Flight 1E) of the $360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD) bookends the schedule, with the cards flying at 6:00pm.  The flight carries the same structure that is listed above, with action scheduled to conclude shortly after midnight.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

The $360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD) may have gotten off to a slow start yesterday (28 total entries), but there is nothing to worry about, as the five weekend flights are sure to bring in the big numbers.  Yesterday's Flight 1A saw four players "reach the money," three of which bagged chips for Monday's Day 2.  Devon Marshall (Miami, FL) was the lone player to receive a Day 1 payout, walking away with $550.  Engelberth Valera (Coral Springs, FL) bagged the flight's chip lead, and has set the mark for others to reach, at 275,000.

A new group of players have taken their seats in the tournament area, as Flight 1B saw it's first hand dealt just moments ago.  Today's flight (along with the four that will follow over the next three days) is structured with 20,000 unit starting stacks, and will have levels that last (30) minutes over the course of the event.  Registration for each flight is open through Level 8, and continues to stay open through the ten minute break that follows.  Each of the starting flights will play down to 8% of the field, with 12.5% making the money on Day 1.  That is the one change in this particular event, from prior tournaments that used the same structure, as those events played down to 5%.  Players were very vocal about the length of time that those flights took to get down to 5%, so that number was raised to 8%.  Things should not take entirely as long, making this tournament's structure more "player-friendly." For example, yesterday's Flight 1A ended in Level 13, and lasted less than eight hours.  Now the same thing shouldn't be expected from these larger weekend flights, but it's unlikely we will see any of the starting flights play longer than ten hours.

Friday, September 7th: As The Weekend Begins, Big Numbers Expected To Roll In For $360 NLH ($100,000 GTD)

ICYMI: Yesterday's opening flight of the $360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD) was an "intimate" one, as registration for Flight 1A would close with a total of (28) entries.  Once the numbers were made official, the players that still remained would learn that (4) players would reach the money, three of which would bag chips for Day 2.  Devon Marshall (Miami, FL) ended up "bubbling" the bagging process, but did receive $550 for being the "fourth place finisher" in the flight.  The final three Flight 1A players then packed up their chips for Monday's Day 2, with the official chip counts listed below:

Tournaments: Friday's tournament schedule hosts the second pair of starting flights for the $360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD), as well as another satellite to get into the tournament.  Flight 1B begins at 11:00am, and is structured with 20,000 unit starting stacks, along with levels that will last (30) minutes throughout the tournament.  Registration is open through Level 8, and will stay open during the ten minute break that follows the level.  The "Day 1 payouts" return, with 12.5% of each opening flight reaching the money, and 8% reaching Day 2.  That is the big change in the structure, as events that used this structure in the past (FSPC Event #4 and CPPT Event #1) played down to 5%.  Players thought that things lasted too long, so the switch was made, which should keep from the starting flights lasting as long as they did.  Players that bag chips in the flight, will return Monday (September 10th), to finish things out on Day 2.

The day's only satellite gets underway at 2:00pm, and is a $90 No Limit Hold'em Satellite, which guarantees (5) seats into the $360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD).  The satellite is structured with 10,000 unit starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and registration that's open until the beginning of Level 9.

ICYMI: Yesterday's tournament schedule hosted two satellites into this weekend's $360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD).  Between the pair of events, a total of (6) seats were awarded into the month's second multi, with the follows players earning seats:

Wednesday, September 5th: It's A "Satellite Day," As We Approach The $360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD), With the "New Early Bird" Headlining Promotions

ICYMI: The first two events on yesterday's tournament schedule were satellites, one of which awarded seats into this weekends $360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD), with the other awarding seats into last night's $175 No Limit Hold'em ($25,000 GTD).

The headlining tournament was in the 6:00pm time slot, and was the $175 No Limit Hold'em $25,000, which attracted a very sizable field.  After ten levels of open registration, the field would close with (180) entries, with the prize pool closing on the guaranteed number ($25,000 GTD).  A total of (23) players would reach the money in the event, with a group of notables added cashes to their tournament resume (that were short of the final table).  Names like Eric Kolodny, Tom Gity, David Coughlin, Donald Williams, Michael Gutterman, and Claudio Bigagli, all saw a return on their investment.  The final table was reached shortly before midnight, with the action playing down to the point that "closing time" came into play (the poker room does close at 3:00am during the weekdays). Opposed to bagging chips for an impromptu Day 2, the final four players agreed to a chop, with Barton Taylor (Miramar, FL) awarded first place money.  The official results of the deal, along with final tables numbers, are listed below:

In an interesting side-note, two of the players to reach the final table (one of which was part of the deal), earned entry into the event via the satellite from earlier in the afternoon (Paul Tran-Hau and James Hamburger).

Tuesday, September 4th: Another Big Day In The Poker Room, With $175 NLH ($25,000) And Introduction Of "Win, Place, Show" High Hands!!!

ICYMI: Yesterday afternoon at 12:00pm, (43) players returned for Day 2 of the $175 No Limit Hold'em ($50,000 GTD).  Of those returning, (37) would reach the money, with Andrew Daire's early exit seemingly one of the first to exit.  Daire returned with 16,000 chips, which was just over three big blinds when play resumed.  Not only did Andrew manage to reach the money, but he was able to chip up enough to finish in 13th place ($875).  Daire's storyline was the was the first of many during the day, but like the saying goes, people remember what happens first...and what happens last.  What ended up happening last was definitely a headline, as the tournament played down to an outright winner, with David Albertson besting Joseph Ritzie during heads-up play.  The win was Albertson's third here at the Isle Casino Pompano Park, and was worth $12,220.  Full results from the tournaments final table are listed below:

As the $175 No Limit Hold'em ($50,000 GTD) was playing out, the second event of the day got underway at 3:00pm, and was a $130 No Limit Hold'em ($15,000 GTD).  After eight levels of open registration, the field would close with (159) entries, which helped eclipse the posted number.  The official prize pool ended up at $15,900, which would be spread across (20) payspots, with first place scheduled to take home $4,271.  Some notables to cash in the event (short of the final table) included: Michael Weinberg (11th place), Bruce Warren (13th place), Cathy Miller (15th place), Daniel Genachte (16th place), and Jackie Lee McGilvery (20th place).

Tournaments: This weekend is another multi-flight (large guarantee) event, and today's tournament schedule begins with a satellite into said tournament.  The $90 No Limit Hold'em Satellite into the $360 NLH ($100,000 GTD) is structured with 10,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (20) minutes in length.  Registration is open through Level 8, with the satellite guaranteeing (3) seats into the event.

Tonight's headlining tournament is a $175 No Limit Hold'em ($25,000 GTD), with players getting the opportunity to satellite into that event as well.  A $50 No Limit Hold'em satellite into that tournament begins at 2:00pm this afternoon, and is structured with 10,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (15) minutes.  Registration for the satellite is open through Level 8, and the ten minute break that follows.

At 6:00pm, the $175 No Limit Hold'em ($25,000 GTD) will get underway, continuing a string of larger guaranteed tournaments (which began earlier this weekend).  The day's "big" event is structured with 20,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (20) minutes throughout.  Registration is open through Level 8, giving players the opportunity to join the action for almost three hours.

Promotions: Tuesday's promotions start with the every-popular Full House Early Bird, with the first (25) full houses awarded up to $60.  The amount won depends on which game is being played, as 2/2 Limit Hold'em players earn $20 (for each full house while eligible), 2/4 Limit Hold'em players earning $40 (for each full house while eligible), and $60 for those playing: 1/2 No Limit Hold'em, 2/5 No Limit Hold'em, 5/10 No Limit Hold'em, 3/6 Limit Hold'em, and 8/16 O.E.

The standard high hands begin at 10:00am (because off the full house promotion), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes. During that period , the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  

At 6:00pm (through midnight), the promotion transitions to something the room has never seen before...the "Win, Place, Show" high hand promotion.  There will be THREE high hands awarded every hour, with the money awarded based on the strength of the qualifying hands.  So yes...players have the opportunity to grab one...two... three of the high hands that are up for grab.  Payouts are listed below:
