Jean Pierre Gagnon (Quebec) may not be familiar to followers of the blog, but he's making his introduction in a big way.

Jean Pierre Gagnon (Quebec) is a relative unknown in our South Florida poker community, with just three tournament results on his resume.  Each of those cashes came here at the Isle Poker Room, with two during 2017's Battles At The Beach, and one during last year's Battle At The Beach.  While his lifetime earnings of $1,059 would leave some to believe there is inexperience in the tournament court, Gagnon only spends a short time in Florida each year (between here and Canada), so his forte could be cash games (or even online action).

Gagnon is going to let his results to the talking today though, as he is the first player to eclipse the century, and will head to the registration break with over 130,000.  As just mentioned, players will take a ten minute break after this level, at which point registration for Flight 1A will close.  We will bring all of the official numbers from the flight following that point, but those still interested in playing, have Flight 1B (3:00pm) and Flight 1C (6:00pm) to choose from.

Ian O'Hara has seen great success at tournaments here at the Isle Poker Room, and now has his eyes on a WPT title (photo courtesy World Poker Tour).

While today's focus is on Flight 1A of the $360 No Limit Hold'em ($50,000 GTD), we would be remiss to not congratulate Isle Poker notable Ian O'Hara, on reaching the final table of the WPT Borgata Main Event.  The $3,500 No Limit Hold'em event attracted a total of 1,415 entrants, and an official prize pool of $4,529,415.  In a new "twist" to certain WPT spots this year, the final table will be played out on March 13th (in Las Vegas).  O'Hara currently has over $150,000 locked up, but has his sights on the $728,430 up top (and coveted WPT Champions Cup).  Listed below are the remaining players, along with chip counts heading to final table, and potential payouts:

Gary Fitzgerald (Miami, FL) saw his pocket nines hold up moments ago, allowing him to shoot up the Flight 1A leaderboard. 

We didn't happen to catch the action, but moments ago, Alcides Gomez was spotted leaving Table 1.  His 10♠ 8♠ fell to the 9♥ 9♦ of Gary Fitzgerald (Miami, FL), after the two got it in on a flop of J♠ 7♣ 3♥.  The turn and river stayed clean for Fitzgerald, who scooped up the pot, and increased his stack to 65,000.  That looks to be the chip leading number at the moment, but there is still a very long way to go in the flight. 

Gary i just a few months removed from his career best cash, finishing in 21st place during the opening event of the Rock N' Roll Poker Open (Hard Rock Hollywood).  The deep run was worth $4,786, as his career earnings now stand at $18,657.

Yaroslav Nakonechnny (Las Vegas, NV) is no stranger to the Isle Poker Room's blog, having made numerous deep runs in the past two years.

Yaroslav Nakonechnyy (Las Vegas, NV) is a player who has a very "introverted" demeanor at the table, always with his headphones on, and while he watches video/movies on his iPad.  Even when he's involved in a hand, the quiet and laid back stance continues.  Those that keep quiet, are usually those that once has to look out for at the poker table, which is the case with Yaroslav.  He has over $216,000 in lifetime tournament earnings, and is coming off a solid run in the $1,100 No Limit Hold'em WPT Deepstacks Main Event (during the most recent Lucky Hearts Poker Open).

Nakonechnny reached the final three tables of the event, eventually bowing out in 23rd place, which was worth $7,975.  Interesting to note, it was Yaroslav's fifteenth cash in a row, that saw a return of at least $1,100.  Nakonechnny finds himself at Table 1, which opened up just a few moments ago, as the Flight 1A field continues to grow.

Players will be taking their first break of the day at the end of this level, and will return to Level 5, with new blinds of 200/400/400.

Rodney Moret-Rojas (Troy, MI) feels like he's going to win each time he sits at a tournament table here at the Isle, and who could blame him, with two big scores in the past four months.  

Rodney Moret-Rojas (Troy, MI) was a name we'd seen numerous times since the inception of the Isle Poker Room's blog, but since October of last year, he's been one of the primary focuses.  Rodney first won Event #6 of the 2018 Isle Open, which was a $360 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD).  He took first place money in a four-way deal, which was worth $25,711.  At the time, Moret-Rojas wasn't in love with the idea of chopping, but couldn't pass up the value of the ICM numbers.  

Fast forward three months, and Moret-Rojas found himself once again at a major final table, this time during the $200 No Limit Hold'em "Isle New Year Kickstart" ($100,000 GTD).  With nine players remaining in the tournament, Rodney was posed with a potential ICM deal, again holding the chip lead at the time of the talks.  It look a slight bit of time before he would agree to the chop, but eventually came to terms with a $18,764 score.

Michael Weinberg (Delray Beach, FL) is just two weeks removed from a deep run in the $140 No Limit Hold'em "Bankroll Builder" ($75,000 GTD).

The last time we saw Michael Weinberg (Delray Beach, FL), he was going deep in the $140 No Limit Hold'em "Bankroll Builder" ($75,000 GTD), which ran just two weeks ago.  The tournament's Day 2 moved swiftly, and was all about keeping the stack "above water,"' which Weinberg was able to do until the final three tables.  Michael ended up getting eliminated in 31st place, which was worth $430.  The results brought his earnings to $24,227, and stands as he most recently cash.  Michael's in today's Flight 1A field, and hoping to bag chips for tomorrow's Day 2.  Some other early notables in the field include:

As February starts, there is no waiting for players looking for great tournament action, as today begins the $360 No Limit Hold'em ($50,000 GTD).  The event runs over the next two days, with three starting flights on today's schedule (Flight 1A at 11:00am, Flight 1B at 3:00pm, and Flight 1C at 7:00pm), and Day 2 tomorrow (at 1:00pm).  The tournament is structured with 20,000 unit starting flights, levels that last (30) minutes in length, and registration open through Level 8.  Each of the flights are scheduled to conclude after Level 13, or if the field reaches the 10% mark (whichever occurs first).  

There will be live blogged coverage of today's afternoon flight (11:00am), which will conclude at the bagging process, and pick back up for tomorrow's Day 2.  This is one of the first time we are seeing a tournament format like this (with three starting flights all on the same day), so it will be interesting to see how things end up after tonight's final flight.

It's time to "shuffle up and deal," as the first hand of the event is now being dealt.

Friday, February 1st: February Starts Of With $360 No Limit Hold'em ($50,000 GTD), Three Starting Flights On Today's Schedule

ICYMI: Thursday's tournament schedule began with the $130 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack," which boasted a $3,000 guaranteed prize pool.  Registration for the event closed with (25) entries, with the $3,000 prize pool scheduled to be spread across four payspots.  Once the money bubble burst, the remaining four players agreed to a deal, with Yesniel Pulido (Davie, FL) taking home first place money.  Official results from the tournament are listed below:

Promotions: The high hands will run from 9:00am-12:00am, with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.

ICYMI: February 2019 Tournament Calendar Released

Tomorrow begins a new month of tournaments, and there is no waiting, when it comes to "special events."  February kicks off with a $360 No Limit Hold'em ($50,000 GTD) multi, which runs from February 1st through February 2nd.  The event has three starting flights on Friday (tomorrow), which begin at 11:00am, 3:00pm, and 7:00pm.  Players that bag chips will be returning for Day 2 on Saturday, assuring everyone that they can compete for some healthy payouts, and not have to worry about missing any of the big game on Sunday.

From there, we have all of the recurring tournaments that players have come to know and love, including the Omaha 8B, H.O.R.S.E., two different "Survivors," and the "Monster Stack."  You will also see the addition of the "Chip Buster" to the schedule, which is an event that sees players sitting down to starting stacks of 50,000 units!!!

Towards the end of the month, we have a second multi, which runs from February 14th through February 18th.  The $150 No Limit Hold'em event carries a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool, but should for sure crush the number.

Thursday, January 31st: Wrapping Up The Month Of January, And Beginning February With A Band ($360 No Limit Hold'em $50,000 GTD)

ICYMI: Wednesday's tournament site began with the $130 No Limit Hold'em "Survivor" ($3,000 GTD), which has quickly become one of the most popular events on the schedule.  The field would reach (40) entries before registration's close, with an official prize pool of $4,000.  While four $1,000 winners were scheduled to get paid, a deal was agreed to on the money bubble, with the official results listed below:

The "Monster Stack" is followed at 6:00pm, by a $130 No Limit Hold'em "Bounty" event.  It should be noted, that this tournament is not the "turbo bounty" that runs on Sunday's, as players get extended levels of (20) minutes (along with the 20,000 unit starting stacks).  Registration is also open through Level 8, not the ten levels that the turbo allows.

Promotions: Outside of the "standard" high hands, the poker room opens with the "new" Full House Promotion.  The proceedings begin once the doors of the poker room open, with the first (25) full houses made, earning a $40 prize.  Each jackpot eligible cash game is included in the promotion, with two rules to keep in mind, when thinking about winning the $40.  In order to be eligible, the full  house must be made using two cards, and must be the winning hand.

 The day's "standard" high hand period will last from 9:00am-12:00am, with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).

From 12:00am-3:00am, the high hand will be awarded $100 every (60) minutes.

Tuesday, January 29th: Full House Promo Starts The Day's Action, Followed By "Mixed Game" Tournament Slate

ICYMI: Monday's tournament action kicked off with the $150 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD), which crushed the guarantee for a second week in a row.  After ten levels of open registration, the tournament closed with a field of (62) entries, and an official prize pool of $7,130.  Eight players were scheduled to reach the money, with action continuing through the money bubble, but pausing once five-handed play was reached.  A deal was agreed to at that point, with official results from the tournament listed below:

The evening time slot (6:00pm) hosted a $90 No Limit Hold'em ($1,500 GTD), which ran with a front-end (optional) add-on of $10.  The guarantee would be surpassed for the second time of the day, as the field closed with (26) entries, and an official prize pool of $1,910.  Four players were scheduled to reach the money, and after two in-the money elimination, a heads up deal was agreed to.  Official results from the tournament are listed below:
