Monday, August 21st: Recapping "August $150,000," Single-Day Series Satellite, And $25,000 GTD

ICYMI: On Sunday afternoon, (107) players returned for Day 2 of the "August $150,000," from (792) total entries.  The field was only eight eliminations away from reaching the money, which occurred about thirty minutes into the day, with the bust-out of Michael Newman (Nanuet, NY) on the bubble.  Play would continue on, with numerous Isle Casino Poker notables earning cashes, including Evan Teitelbaum (91st Place - $539), Diane Linke (69th Place - $710), Michael Mizrachi (52nd Place - $862), Megan Endres (39th Place - $971), Jairo Carillo (22nd Place - $1,631), and Jennifer Parker (12th Place - $3,563).

The final table was reached just before 10:30pm, after the elimination of Thomas Gari in eleventh place ($3,563).  Once the players took their new seats after the redraw, we saw a common theme amongst the group.  Many of the final table members we super short at some point with two tables remaining, and ended up surviving...and thriving.  David Gelley (Boca Raton, FL) lost a hand to Tom Cuce with (11) remaining that saw him come out of the hand with just one big blind.  He ended running that back up to 1,000,000 in just a matter of three hands, before the final table was reached.  When players first began talking about a chop, there were a few players that weren't interested, likely because Daniel Navarrete had less than (10) big blinds.  He too would manage to double when he was at his shortest point, and managed to make it to the next break.  It would be at that break when players ran the numbers once again, this time coming to an agreement.  Posted below are the numbers from the deal, with Bruce Kahn the tournament's declared winner:
  1. Bruce Kahn (Plantation, FL) $24,865
  2. Thomas Cuce (Delray Beach, FL) $19,370
  3. Troy Parra (Margate, FL) $18,712
  4. Al Gomez (Miami Beach, FL) $16,735
  5. Scott Levitt (Delray Beach, FL) $16,097
  6. David Gelley (Boca Raton, FL) $15,110
  7. Daniel Navarrete (Aventura, FL) $11,830
  8. Erik Nomberg (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $10,990
  9. Fausto Tersgini (Oakland Park, FL) $10,990
Tournaments: The first tournament of the day is a $275 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into tomorrow's $2,500 NLH "Single-Day Series" (1 Seat Guarantee).  Players start with 14,000 units in the satellite, and play (20) minute levels throughout.  The guarantee is already reached for the one seat, as ten satellite seats were given away yesterday afternoon, during the day's high hand promotion.

The evening tournament (6:00pm) is the $130 No Limit Hold'em ($25,000 GTD), and event that continuously eclipses the posted guarantee.  The event sees players sitting down to starting stacks of 16,000 units, and playing (20) minute levels over the course of the evening.

Promotions: Outside of the "standard high hand" promotion, there will be "Turbo High Hands" from 9:00am-12:00pm.  During that window of time, $100 will be awarded to the qualifying high hand every (10) minutes (rollovers apply).
