Sunday, August 19th: Final Event #1 Flight On Tap (With Early Satellite), As The CPPT Continues On

ICYMI: Yesterday's tournament schedule hosted a pair of Card Player Poker Tour Event #1 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $200,000 GTD) starting flights, beginning with flight 1D at 11:00am.  The fourth of sixth opening flights attracted the largest field to have been played, with the tournament clock showing (132) entries at registration's close.  From that number, (17) players would reach the "money," with (7) players bagging for Day 2.  Chad Kastel (who was mentioned in coverage as Christopher Kastler...sorry Chad) eliminated Adel Arbuckle on the bubble, sending the field into the money.  Names like Marc Duquette, Thomas Millward, and Matthew Zarcadoolas, all earned "Day 1" cashes, and will likely return today to try and bag chips.  When the bagging process started, it was David Poces packing away the chip lead, which earned him a seat into Event #8 (chip lead bonus).  Official counts from Flight 1D are posted below:

David Poces - 558,000
Chad Kastel - 540,000
Tom Gity - 395,000
Marc Freund - 352,000
Truyen Nguyen - 337,000
Kenneth Borkuff - 335,000
Marek Madro - 124,000

As the fourth flight of Event #1 was winding down, players were just getting settled for Flight 1E of the tournament, which began at 6:00pm.  Registration would close with (92) entries, of which (12) players reached the money, and (5) would bag for Day 2.  The pace of play was a slight bit quicker than it's afternoon counterpart, with the money reached around Level 16, and play concluding with 2:15 minutes remaining in Level 20.  Official chip counts from Flight 1E are listed below:

Michael Newman - 739,000
Michael Kopjanski - 632,000
Kevin Chan - 270,000
Roy Cohen - 142,000
Yaron Burstein - 78,000

With five Event #1 opening flights now completed, the combined totals have seen (538) entries, of which (70) players have gotten paid, and (29) have bagged chips for Day 2.  The currently prize pool sits at $161,400, with another (129) entries needed to reach the posted $200,000 guarantee.

Tournaments: The day's schedule begins at 10:00am, with a $90 No Limit Hold'em "Turbo" Satellite Into Event #1.  The satellite is structured with 8,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (15) minutes.  Registration for the satellite is open through Level 8, so players the are interested in trying to win an Event #1 seat, should take note of the shortened registration period.

A short while after the satellite concludes, the final flight of Event #1 gets underway, with Flight 1F beginning at 2:00pm. The flight is structured with 20,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (30) minutes on Day 1 (transitioning to 40 minutes on Day 2).  Registration for each starting flight is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows), with play scheduled to conclude when the field reaches the 5% mark.  Day 1 payouts return, which was a wrinkle that we saw during the last major series (Florida State Poker Championship), as 12.5% make the money.  Players that bag chips in any of the opening flights will return on Monday for Day 2 (12:00pm).  Lets not forget about the "chip lead bonus," as the largest stack from each flight will earn entry into CPPT Event #8, which is the $1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event ($250,000 GTD).

As the registration window closes for Flight 1F, the second event of the Card Player Poker Tour gets underway (6:00pm).  Event #2 is a $130 No Limit Hold'em "Turbo Bounty," which boasts a $5,000 guaranteed prize pool.  The tournament is structured with 20,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (15) minutes.  Registration is open through Level 10, with the tournament scheduled as a one-day event.

Promotions: From (12:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $100 every (60) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am, with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
