Friday, May 10th: It's A Father/Son Moment Before Mother's Day, Weekend Action Ready To Begin

ICYMI: Mother's Day may be right around the corner, but yesterday's afternoon tournament was all about a father/son moment.  The $130 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" ($1,500 GTD) attracted a total of (13) entries, two of which were TJ and Brandon Shulman.  Two spots were scheduled to get paid in the event, and once the money bubble burst, it would be father and son left.  Brandon wanted to chop the tournament, but the tournament veteran (TJ) knew how valuable this heads-up lesson could be, and told his son they were playing things out.  The elder Shulman ended up winning the event (but gave his son the money afterwards), with official results of the tournament listed below:
  1. TJ Shulman (Duluth, GA) $900
  2. Brandon Shulman (Boynton Beach, FL) $600
The evening event was a $130 No Limit Hold'em "Green Chip Bounty," which had a posted guarantee of $2,000.  Just like the afternoon tournament before it, the "bounty" tournament attracted a total of (13) entries, with two spots scheduled to earn a piece of the $1,625 prize pool (bounties not included).  When the money was reached, there would be a deal struck, with the official results listed below:
  1. William Cook (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $846
  2. Anthony Vulpis (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $779
Tournaments: Friday's tournament action kicks off at 11:00am, with a $75 No Limit Hold'em "Survivor" ($1,000 GTD), which will see every 1 in 10 entries earn a $500 pay spot.  The tournament is structured with 14,000 unit starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and registration that is open through Level 8.  This event should is very popular with players, as it is a small investment...with a large return.

The evening tournament (6:00pm) is an $80 No Limit Hold'em event, which carries a $3,000 guarantee.  The tournament is structured with 12,000 unit starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and registration that is open through Level 8.  At the end of registration, players have the option to add-on, choosing between a single ($20) or double ($40).

Promotions: The high hands will run from 9:00am-12:00am, with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
