Saturday, August 20th: Marcel Jo Heads Four-Way Friday Chop, Saturday Kicks Off With $1,000 "Highest Hand" Promo

ICYMI:
Friday's $80 No Limit Hold'em ($4,000 GTD) got underway at 6:00pm, with players ready to start the weekend with a tournament score.  Registration for the event eventually closed with a total of (84) entries, and an official prize pool of $6,140.  Players learned that (11) would reach the money, with the actionpljauing through the money bubble, and down to a four-handed final table.  Marcel Jo (Boca Raton, FL) took home first place money, but the difference between first and fourth was less than $200.  Official results from the tournament are listed below, along with an updated Player of the Month leaderboard:
  1. Marcel Jo (Boca Raton, FL) $1,190
  2. Herbert Souza (Boca Raton, FL) $1,114
  3. Amir Baron (Coral Springs, FL) $1,105
  4. Joseph De Palma (Pompano Beach, FL) $1,016

  7. Jerrold Solov (Pompano Beach, FL) $255
  8. Daniel Bueno (Sunrise, FL) $215
  9. Darlene Stufin (Boynton Beach, FL) $198
  10. John Saint Louis (North Lauderdale, FL) $184
  11. Anderson Patino (Miami, FL) $172

Tournaments: Saturday's 6:00pm tournament is one of the most popular on the schedule, as it offers an incredibly affordable buy-in, that always sees some great returns.  The $130 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD) event has consistently crushing the posted guarantee, as the prize pool reaches five-figures on a weekly basis.

The tournament is structured with starting stacks of 15,000 chips, and levels that last (20) minutes throughout the event. Registration is open through Level 8, allowing for almost three hours of play, prior to the window closing for the night.

Promotions: From 9:00am (the minute the doors open) until 11:00pm, $300 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes. These high hands must be aces-full or better, use both hole cards, and be the winning hand (in a pot that has at least $10).  From 11:00pm until close, $100 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes.

In addition to the high hands, there is a "bonus" promotion in place, which offers $1,000 to the highest hand from the 9:00am-12:00pm time period.  If a player makes a straight flush in the 9:00am-9:30am qualifying period, and that is the best qualifying high hand from 9:00am-12:00pm, they will earn an extra $1,000 (in addition to the $300 they were awarded for the half-hour time period).

6:00pm: $130 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD)
  • Players start with 15,000 in tournament chips
  • Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
  • Alternates and late entries will start with a full stack
  • Levels will last (20) minutes
