Friday, September 23rd: Jonathan Marcu Tops Thursday's Six-Way Chop, As We Enter An Important Weekend Of Tournament Action

ICYMI: Thursday's $200 No Limit Hold'em ($15,000 GTD) got underway at 6:00pm, with the field growing to (69) entries by registration's close.  The total number was short of what was needed to reach the posted guarantee, so there was a small overlay.  Nine players were scheduled to earn a return on investment, with action playing through the money bubble, and down to a six-handed final table.  The final six players agreed to a chop, with the official results listed below:
  1. Jonathan Marcu (Boca Raton, FL) $3,144
  2. Michael Laufer (Boca Raton, FL) $2,662
  3. Cheryl Jean (West Palm Beach, FL) $2,275
  4. Robert Kessler (Parkland, FL) $2,005
  5. Robert Transue (North Lauderdale, FL) $1,715
  6. Courtney Rowe (West Palm Beach, FL) $1,399
  7. Devries Nicholas (Naples, FL) $675
  8. Randy Walton (Pompano Beach, FL) $600
  9. Ovide Lewis (Hollywood, FL) $525
Tournaments: With the arrival of the weekend, comes the $80 No Limit Hold'em ($4,000 GTD)...a new event that replaces the $160 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD).  The cards get in the air at 6:00pm, with players sitting down to starting stacks of 12,000.  Levels will last (20) minutes throughout the evening, with registration open through Level 8 (and the break that follows).  At the end of registration, players will have the opportunity to add-on for $40 (receiving an additional 15,000 chips).

Promotions: From 9:00am (the minute the doors open) until 11:00pm, $300 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes. These high hands must be aces-full or better, use both hole cards, and be the winning hand (in a pot that has at least $10).  From 11:00pm until close, $100 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes.

In addition to the high hands, there is a "bonus" promotion in place, which offers $1,000 to the highest hand from the 9:00am-12:00pm time period.  If a player makes a straight flush in the 9:00am-9:30am qualifying period, and that is the best qualifying high hand from 9:00am-12:00pm, they will earn an extra $1,000 (in addition to the $300 they were awarded for the half-hour time period).

6:00pm - $80 No Limit Hold'em ($4,000 GTD)
  • Players start with 12,000 in tournament chips
  • Levels will last (20) minutes
  • Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
  • Alternates and late entries will start with a full stack
