David Inselberg (New York, NY)

David "Coldstone" Inselberg (New York, NY) returned from break as the only player to eclipse the 1,000,000 chip mark, and while he's lost just a little over the first (20) minutes of Level 21, he still sits with 1,050,000.  Inselberg's name and face may not be familiar to the Florida poker community, but he's been a successful tournament player for close to ten years up north, and is now a heavy favorite to make a deep run in this tournament.

Paula Alibrandi and Esther Foley...last ladies remaining.

Players are about to take their second break of the day, and will be returning to play another two levels.  At the conclusion of the next pair of levels, those still left in the field will head on a (45) minute dinner break.  Of the (43) player that have made it to this stage of the tournament, two of them are women...Paula Alibrandi and Esther Foley.  Alibrandi started the day with 208,000, but has managed to find herself sitting with over 470,000...courtesy of a little luck against Maurice Hawkins.  Paula was all-in and at risk against Hawkins, holding Q♠ Q♣ against his A♣ K, but somehow managed to grab back the lead after a K♠ 8♠ 3♣ flop.  The turn and river brough Paula running spades, and she managed to continue trending up after that good fortune.

Esther Foley was in the bottom third of the chip counts when Day 2 play resumes, but she is now sitting with a top ten stack (770,000).  Esther is coming off a runner-up finish in the $300 No Limit Hold'em Ladies Event during the most recent SHRPO, and it seems as if her good run has continued through this event.

Angelo Miele (Hollywood, FL)

Poker players have long arranged their chips in different ways, with the most popular (in tournaments) option being in twenty-stacks.  They are then arranged in a line, a pyramid formation, some like to stack them in forty stacks...some messy, some neat and organized.  One of the more under utilized options is the ten-stacks, as they quickly take up room across the player's personal "surface area."  Angelo Meile (Hollywood, FL) has managed to fit his over 900,000 chip leading stack in ten-stacks in front of him.  It's a long reach to peer down at the cards when they are almost arms length away, but Miele is doing just fine with it.  He's one of a group that has gained some separation from the rest of the field:

Angelo Miele - 925,000
Steven Bennett - 750,000
Russell Williams - 630,000
Edward Novak - 560,000

Erik Silevitch (Andover, MA)

Of the (116) players returning for Day 2 earlier this afternoon, Erik Silevitch (Andover, MA) was second to last in chips (39,000).  One would think that being 115 of 116 could be considered a pretty bad start, but he's spent the last three hours trending upwards, and now sits with just under 400,000.  Silevitch has one recorded cash on his Hendon Mob resume, a 29th place finish in the opening event of the 2015 Rock N' Roll Poker Open at SHR ($350 No Limit Hold'em - Event #1), which earned him $2,946.  If Erik were able to manage a better than 13th place finish, he would earn himself the largest cash of his career ($3,397).

Players are heading on their first (10) minute break of the day, and will be returning to Level 19, and blinds of 4,000/8,000/1,000 (226,000 chip average).  Nigel Williams (Miami Gardens, FL) continued his good run since bursting the tournament's money bubble, and is now the overall chip leader.  Williams sits with 485,000, but has a group of players than can eclipse that mark with a single hand.

Nigel Murray (Miami Gardens, FL)

After two players limped at Table 10, action would be on Nigel Murray, who was on the button.  Murray raised to 35,000, and watched as the player in the small blind pushed forward his entire stack (80,000).  The big blind would fold, and one of the original limpers asked for an exact count.  He would eventually release his hand, along with Noberto Pardo (who limped as well), with Murray making the call.

"You're going to fold that hand," Murray asked the seemingly only other interested party in the hand (original limper).  He told Murray that he had pocket nines, which seemed to fare well for the all-in player, who happened to be holding picket eights.  He'd be in a position to double up, as Murray tabled 2 3, but the 2♠ 2♣ 6♠ flop changed everything.  A collective reaction came from the table, as they watched the deal finish the runout, eliminating the unnamed "bubble boy."

Everyone in the field is now guaranteed at least $496, with payouts to be posted after each pay jump occurs.

The field is only three eliminations away from the money, with hand-for-hand play to begin once a total of (94) players remain.  The clock will then be paused, and (2) minutes will be deducted from the clock for each hand that is played during that process.

There are two players at Table 9 off to a very hot start to Day 2, as David Inselberg (New York, NY) and Sean Shah (Delray Beach, FL).  Shah started Day 2 with 108,500, and has since more than doubled his stack, currently sitting with 265,000.  Inselberg came into in the day with a top (15) stack in the field, and has since increased his Day 2 starting stack (256,000) to close to 400,000.

Edward Novak (Simsbury, CT)

2016 Isle Poker Open Championship Event winner Edward Novak (Simsbury, CT) came into the day with an above average chip stack (161,000), but quickly found himself with just over (10) big blinds.  Novak would shove over an open from Qasim Jamhour, with the latter calling the 58,000 before the cards were tabled.  Novak would be in solid shape holding A♠ K against Jomhour's A 9, and after the Q♣ K♣ 6 9♠ 6♠ runout, he'd more than double to 130,000.

Norberto Pardo (Day 2 Chip Leader)

The clock has been turned back to Level 15 (3:35 remaining), and the cards are in the air as Day 2 of the $360 No Limit Hold'em Deep Stack $100,000 GTD gets started.  Those that took a look through the posted chip counts may have noticed two names that were posted without chip counts (Nigel Murray and Norberto Pardo).  Pardo happened to be the overall chip leader coming into Day 2, with just over 540,000.

The field returns only (23) spots away from the money, with a min-cash in the tournament earnings players $496, and first place prize taking home $40,946.  At this levels conclusion, the level length will transition to (50) minutes, and stay that way until the tournament has ended.  This tournament is scheduled to end today, but the deep play (along with 18,550,000 chips in circulation) and structure may not allow for that.  Regardless of what happens to end the night, the live blogged coverage will be offered throughout the day.

Sunday, April 30th: Closing The Month In Style, Day 2 Of "April $100,000 GTD"

ICYMI: Yesterday saw the final two flights of the "April $100,000 GTD" on the schedule, with the turnout almost equal to that of the four flights that were played to that point.  Flight 1E began at 12:00pm, and ended up with (168) total entries, (28) of which made it to Day 2.  Domenic Pizziferri (West Palm Beach, FL) bagged the flight's chip lead with 266,000, which has him returning this afternoon with the eleventh largest Day 2 stack.  Some other notables that bagged above average stacks from Flight 1E included David Inselberg (256,000), Michael Sklar (237,500), Paula Alibrandi (208,000), Alan Munoz (195,500), and Robert Kessler (172,500).

The evening flight (Flight 1F) was the largest of the six for the tournament, attracting a total of (186) entries.  Of those entries, (25) players managed to bag chips for Day 2, led by Russell Marco (365,500).  The flight was full of notable players, many of which were part of the (25) that bagged, including Maurice Hawkins (255,000), Steven McKoy (216,000), and Darren Stabinski (206,000).

A total of (116) players will be returning to action at 12:00pm this afternoon, playing for their share of a prize pool that officially closed at $226,310 (and a first place prize over $40,000).  Levels will transition to (50) minutes after the conclusion of Level 16 (one of the flights ended with 3:00 remaining in Level 15), so it's sure to be a long day of tournament poker.  All of the action will be covered here on the blog, included payouts, updated chip counts, hand histories, and eventual tournament recap.

Tournaments: The only tournament on the schedule today is Day 2 of the $360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD, an event that is scheduled to play down to a winner.
