Tuesday, November 7th: "No Chop Monday," As We Draw One Day Closer To "November $100,000"

ICYMI: Monday's action started with the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Big Stack Turbo Bounty" ($2,000 GTD), a tournament that attracted (32) entries, and surpassed the guarantee with a $2,404 prize pool (including bounties).  Four players were scheduled to reach the money in the event, with play continuing once the money bubble burst.  After the elimination of Euler Franco and Patricia Conrad, a heads up chop was agreed to between Donald Gordon and Henry Behr (with official results posted below).

The evening event saw the big guarantees return, as the $130 No Limit Hold'em event boasted a $20,000 guaranteed prize pool.  The official $20,000 prize pool was comprised of (163) entries, including numerous notables players to the Isle Poker Room.  Once the payouts were posted, those still remaining would learn that (21) players were going to reach the money, and first place was going to take home $5,317.  These were some of the richest final table payouts we've seen for a Monday evening tournament, so one would expect a chop at some point (which happens more often than not in these "nightlies").  Yesterday was "no chop Monday" though, as the final table action played down to a winner, with Tom Millward besting Myles German to ship the event (with official final table results posted below).

Tournaments: Tuesday's tournament schedule is the last day of "recurring" events for the week, as the "November $100,000" begins tomorrow ($175 No Limit Hold'em | $100,000 GTD).  Today's afternoon event (11:00am) is the $120 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" ($3,000 GTD), a tournament that's structured with 25,000 unit starting stacks, and levels of (25) minutes.

The evening tournament brings back the larger guarantee, with the cards getting in the air for the $60 No Limit Hold'em ($8,000 GTD) at 6:00pm.  The tournament is structured with starting stacks of 14,000 units, and levels that last (20) minutes.  There is also an optional add-on at the end of registration (after Level 8), with players seeing a return of 10,000 units for $20 (with 100% of the add-on money going towards the prize pool.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that starting November 1st, players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand!!!  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).

Tonight's $130 No Limit Hold'em tournament, which has a $20,000 guaranteed prize pool, is currently on pace for a sizable overlay.  The field of (138) entries (at the end of Level 6) is still close to (70) players away from reaching the posted number.  Registration for the tournament is open until 8:55pm, so now would be the opportunity for players to get over to the poker room, and join the action!!!

The "Multi" Action Continues This Week, As "November $100,000" Runs From Nov. 8th-Nov. 12th

The November Tournament Calendar is highlighted by four "headlining" events, the second of which begins this Wednesday (November 8th).  The $175 No Limit Hold'em tournament carries with it a $100,000 guarantee, and boasts (8) starting flights (over the course of four days).  The action resumes on Sunday (November 12th), as those players that were fortunate to bag chips, return to play down to a winner.

The tournament is structured with 15,000 unit starting stacks, and will be played with (25) minute levels throughout.  Registration is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows) for each flight, which is approximately 2:40pm for the afternoon flights (which begin at 11:00am), and 9:40pm for the evening flights (which begin at 6:00pm).  The chip lead bonus returns for this event, as the leader from each flight will earn a seat into the $340 No Limit Hold'em Package Satellite on November 29th (11:00am).  The satellite is guaranteeing (10) packages into the $2,500 No Limit Hold'em Single-Day Series ($100,000 GTD), and the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em Isle Classic Event #1 ($300,000 GTD).

A similar event to this was run in August, and had a $100,000 guarantee, but was a $150 buy-in.  The tournament attracted a total of 1,126 entries, and closed with an official prize pool of $129,400.  

Monday, November 6th: Recapping "November $200,000," Looking Ahead To A New Week

ICYMI: Yesterday afternoon saw the return of the (96) players that bagged chips for Day 2 of the November $200,000 ($360 No Limit Hold'em | $200,000 GTD), with action scheduled to play down to a winner.  Things got off a to quick start, as the eliminations were fast and furious to start the day.  Just over half of the returning field would reach the money, but players like Michael Mizrachi, Tony Ruberto, Tom Gity, Carlos Loving, and Joseph Duchman all fell short of cashing.

The money bubble brought one of the first dramatic moments of the day, as Scott Zakheim (Davie, FL) lost an all-in on the stone bubble, that would leave him with less than one big blind.  Luckily for Scott, another player would be eliminated from another table, allowing him to sneak into the money with just a few antes.  The field would then go from (55) players to (18) in less than three hours, as the landscape for the "homestretch" began to take shape.

There were numerous notable names remaining at the final two tables, with different potential storylines in play.  The deep runs that fell short of the final table belonged to players like Steve Karp, Francklin Michel, Alton Mendleson, Bryce McVay, Matt Lambrecht, and Antonio Campbell.  The final table would begin nine-handed as Lambrecht and Campbell were eliminated simultaneously, with action continuing as scheduled.  Richard Kirsch (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) was the first to exit the final table, followed by Andrew Thompson (Maui, HI) and Linda Lipkins (Boca Raton, FL).

The remaining six players continued play, but after Bobby Leff turned a stack of three big blinds into 1,800,000 (fifteen bigs), the talks of a chop began.  The numbers were quickly agreed to, with Nagui Yassa declared the tournament's winner (with official results posted below):

Robert Leff returned from break with just three big blinds, but after doubling through Jamie Wiegrefe to begin Level 31, Leff earned a little extra time to be patient (even though he had less than 10 bigs).  Left just shoved when action folded to him, with Diane Linke re-shoving behind, for close to 3,000,000.  "How bad is it," Leff asked Diane, just before she turned over K♣ K♦.  "At least I have outs," Leff would say, tabling A♣ J♠, and waiting for the dealer to run out the board.  The J♥ 10♦ 2♠ A♦ 6♥ runout would see Leff double up once again, this time to 1,800,000.

Linda Lipkins (Boca Raton, FL) came into Day 2 with a below average stack, but managed a steady climb through the evening.  She began to lose traction with two tables remaining, but reached the final table, and lost a flip to bust.

Linda Lipkins (Boca Raton, FL) and husband Steven are loyal attendees of the "daily tournaments" on the monthly calendars, and while they play in the major series as well, this was Linda's first cash in a multi that was outside a series since 2013.  Linda opened the action at the final table with a raise, and after Diane Linke made the call, Lipkins would be flipping for her tournament life.  Her A♠ K♣ could not grab a lead against Linke's 7♥ 7♠, and Linda would be eliminated in seventh place.

Andrew Thompson (Maui, HI) would be left super short after losing a hand to Nagui Yassa, and it would be Nagui who would also eliminate him a few hands later.

Andrew Thompson (Maui, HI) was left with only 250,000 after losing a critical hand to Nagui Yassa, and after Yassa limped a few hands later, Thompson would shove for 195,000.  Diane Linke called out of the big blind, and although Yassa tried to back-raise, the amount of Andrew's all-in did not allow it.  Nagui's only option was to make the call, and after the dealer fanned out a board of 8♦ 3♠ 4♥, Linke checked to Yassa.  Nagui put out a bet of 300,000, with Linke folding, and Yassa rolling over 6♦ 6♥.

"That's all you have," Thompson said when he saw the hand (showing A♠ 9♦), "all I need is a nine."  Andrew asked for a nine on the turn and river, but would be denied both times.  He'd be the second player to exit the final table, and would earn $5,155.

Richard Kirsch came into the final table with one of the shortest stacks, so if he was able to get an all-in through, picking up the blinds and antes would be big.  Unfortunately for Richard, Jamie Wiegrefe looked down at a more than "callable" hand.

Jamie Wiegrefe opened the fourth hand at the final table with a raise, and after two players folded behind, Richard Kirsch (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) shoved for just over ten big blinds.  The players behind Richard released their hands, and Jamie would quickly make the call, putting Kirsch at risk.  Wiegrefe's A♠ K♥ was ahead of Kirsch's Q♥ J♠ pre-flop, and after the K♦ 4♦ 7♠ flop came down, Richard would be left with little hope to double.  He'd end up drawing dead on the turn, and would be the first players to exit the final table.

There are numerous short stacks across the remaining field, with one of the shortest shoving moments ago (Matt Lambrecht), from early position.  Action would fold around to Robert Leff, who was in the small blind, and held a very similar stack to Lambrecht.  After giving the decision some thought, Leff made the call, and would be flipping with 6♥ 6♦ against Matt's J♥ 9♥.  The board would run out clean for Leff, who would leave Matt with less than two antes.  He would be eliminated two hands later, with another pot brewing over at Table 2 (simultaneously).  

Antonio Campbell shoved for less than five big blinds, and was called by Kenneth Bruno.  Campbell was in solid shape with A♥ Q♥ against Bruno's A♠ 9♥, but Kenneth flopped a nine, and held through the runout.   The final table of nine is now re-drawing.

Bryce McVay (Jupiter, FL) was sitting with a pretty comfortable stack, even as the blinds began to make things a little shallower.  He would then go on to lose with A♠ A♣ against K♦ Q♦, followed by losing with 10♠ 10♣ against 3♠ 3♣ (to Jamie Wiegrefe).  Those hands would take a large percentage of Bryce's stack, and he'd bust to Linda Lipkins just moments ago, as she flopped a straight with A♠ K♥ (against his A♥ 7♦).  Bryce earns $3,325 for his twelfth place finish, but surely exits the field feeling like he should have deserved a better result.

Bryce McVay (Jupiter, FL) got a little "creative" with his four-bet shove, but it ended up working out for him.

After Bryce McVay opened the action at Table 1 with a raise to 42,000, Jake Ozyman three-bet to 80,000 after players folded to him.  The players behind Ozyman also released their hand, and it would be McCoy's move next.  After sitting still for neither a minute, Bryce announced he was all-in, having Ozyman covered.  Jake quickly made the call, and the two would be playing for a pot worth close to 800,000.

McVay turned over A♦ 4♣, seemingly knowing that his hand was going to be in bad shape, which it was (against the Q♦ Q♥ of Ozyman).  The 4♦ 3♠ 5♠ flop was certainly a favorable one for McVay, but he was still behind.  That would only last for a few seconds, with the dealer placing the 4♠ on the turn, leaving Jake looking for a two-outer on the river.  It wasn't meant to be for Ozyman, who exits the field, while McVay chips up to 1,900,000 (which is good for the chip lead).
