BATB Event #1 (Day 2): Michael Tait Eliminates Two To Send Event #1 Field Into The Money

2018 Battles At The Beach
Event #1 | $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 19 (Blinds 4,000/8,000/1,000) | Structure
Total Event #1 Entries: 958
Event #1 Players Remaining: 89

Michael Tait (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) just became everyone's favorite player, as he eliminated Sean Shah and Scott Efron, to send the Event #1 field into the money.

With play just two spots from the money, an unknown player would limp under-the-gun, with Sean Shah raising all-in (for 144,000) from middle position.  The next three players released, with Michael Tait then re-shoving for over 540,000 (having the table covered).  A short stacked Scott Efron would call-off from the big blind, and the hands would be tabled:

Tait: A♠ A♣
Shah: K♥ K♦
Efron: A♥ J♠

Runout: J♣ 6♥ 9♦ 7♠ 3♠

Unless something very special happened, Michael Tait was in line to burst the money bubble, pending his pocket aces held...which is exactly what they did.  Shah and Efron would wait to see if any other players were eliminated in the same hand, but everyone else across the field stayed seated.  Event #1 of the 2018 Battles At The Beach is now in the money, with everyone guaranteed at least $305.

Michael Tait: 825,000 (103bb)

Official results will be posted as each pay jump is reached.

BATB Event #1 (Day 2): Albertson Returns As Day 2 Chip Leader, First Focus On Reaching The Money

2018 Battles At The Beach
Event #1 | $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 18 (Blinds 3,000/6,000/500) | Structure
Total Event #1 Entries: 958
Event #1 Players Remaining: 113

After just one level of play, the Day 2 field has already lost eighteen players, with the pace expected to pick up as the blind grow higher.  A total of (89) players will be reaching the money, which means the money bubble should be upon us in just a few levels.  David Albertson (Coral Springs, FL) returned to action as the chip leader, and has the experience in this spot to make him one of the favorites to go deep.  Albertson made a super deep run in the first tournament that was ever live blogged (on this website), Event #1 of the 2016 Isle Open.  David ended up bowing out in third place, which was worth $9,282.  Just two months later, Albertson would head a ten-way chop of a $130 No Limit Hold'em multi that boasted a $75,000 guarantee.

As we know from following tournament poker, coming in as a massive chip leader could be a blessing...or a curse.  Albertson's name is one we will keep an eye out for, along with the other start of Day 2 chip leaders (including Omar Yates, Donald Williams, Mark Dube, and Joshua Zur).

As mentioned earlier in the day, unforeseen circumstances we keep the media from offering detailed Day 2 coverage, but results will be posted live as they happen.

BATB Event #1 (Day 2): With Action About To Get Underway, We Look At Chip Counts And Payouts

2018 Battles At The Beach
Event #1 | $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)

Wednesday, Match 14th: Day 2 Players From Event #1 Returning At 12:00PM, As The Battles Continue ON

ICYMI: As expected, yesterday's final pair of Event #1 starting flights attracted the largest number of entries, and helped the prize pool soar past the guarantee.  Flight 1E set the new high number with (188) entries, but was then eclipsed by the Flight 1F field, which saw registration close with (232) entries.  Of the (410) total entires from the day, (56) players were able to successfully bag chips for today's Day 2, with the following taking home the chip lead bonuses:

David Albertson - 494,000 (Flight 1E)
Frank Scala - 329,000 (Flight 1E)
Mark Dube - 366,000 (Flight 1F)
Ross Ramlal - 307,500 (Flight 1F)

The numbers from yesterday, combined with the four flights that came before it, made Event #1 more successful than anyone could have imagined.  The full field closed with (958) entries, and an overall prize pool of $129,330.  (131) players will be returning to action at 12:00pm this afternoon, battling it out for the $22,450 first place prize.  The top three spots are alls scheduled to talk away with five-figure cashes, while everyone at the final table will earn at least $1,850 (unless a deal is made at some point).

Due to an unforeseen emergency, Day 2 coverage will likely be limited to results, but we will try and bring followers as much detailed action as possible.

Tournaments: As mentioned above, the Battles At The Beach schedule sees the Day 2 players from Event #1 returning to play.  Each of the (131) players will come back to their respective bagged stacks, with levels of (25) minutes throughout the day.  Action resume in Level 17, with blinds of 2,500/5,000/500.

This evening's time slot (6:00pm) hosts the first satellite for the Battles At The Beach Main Event (Event #14 - $1,500 No Limit Hold'em).  The $175 buy-in satellite guarantees (5) seats into the series' "championship," and is structured with 12,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (20) minutes.  Registration is open through the break after Level 8, which falls around 9:00pm.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that started back on November 1st, players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand!!!  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
