We did not see the action leading up to the over 1,000,000 pot between Scott Hecker and Jake Embres, but the hands and board were left face up for us to see. In a blind v. blind confrontation, Hecker flopped a flush with 2♥ 6♥ on a Q♥ 7♥ 8♥ flop. Jake's 8♣ 3♣ would make trips after the 8♠ on the turn, and the money would get in, with Embres unable to make a full house on the river.
Hecker would double up to 1,100,000 in the hand, while Embres dropped down to ten big blinds. Jake did double up the very next hand, so he was able to recoup some of the lost chips.

As we were collecting results from the tournament podium, we walked by a hand unfolding, between Nagui Yassa and Preecha Taepakdee. The two players were on the turn of a board that read 4♦ 7♥ 8♥ 9♥, with Nagui announcing that he was all-in (for close to 300,000). Taepakdee took little time before verbalizing a call, and turning over 8♠ 8♣. Yassa reacted in disgust, as he learned that his 7♠ 7♣ was drawing to one out on the river. The 5♥ completed the board, and Yassa would be eliminated in 79th place ($415). Taepakdee would scoop in the massive pot, bringing him up to 800,000, and making him the current Day 2 chip leader.

David Goldman came into the day with 100,500, but was able to double that stack over the course of the first three levels. He then hit a wall moments, which stopped him dead in his tracks. Goldman had a player all-in just ten minute prior, drawing to three outs on the river, and watched as his opponent spiked one of those three cards. Taking the beat in stride, David would then open the action at Table 9 a few hands later, only to see Chrystian Santos three-bet shove for 123,000. Goldman made the call, and would once again be in dominating position:

The flop looked like a good one for Goldman, but Santos would turn a straight draw, which he would hit on the river. After shipping over the double to Santos, David would be left with just five big blinds...and then found himself on the rail two hands later.

After Andre Bryan opened to 21,000, Zlatko Brkic three-bet shoved for just over 80,000. Tom Gity was next to act, and he'd shove as well (for 142,500), with action folding back around to Bryan. The final player to arrive for Day 2 actually happened to be the overall chip leader, as Daniel Pearlman (Hollywood, FL) got stuck at a doctors appointment. Luckily, his 470,000 stack didn't take to much of a hit over the first thirty minutes of Day 2 play, blinding away just over 25,000 before he arrived. Pearlman is well known for his runner-up finish in the WSOP Circuit Main Event at Cherokee (last year), which was worth a career best $196,809. His last cash came during this event ($175 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD) in May, when he finished in 56th place for $430. Pearlman's sights are set much higher this afternoon, but he has some stiff competition at his table, having to deal with the other big stacks of Steve Legault and Jeanocson Dalcy.

Players starting arriving to the poker room about twenty minutes ago, with a majority of (142) Day 2 competitors already sitting with their chips unstacked. The first hand will be dealt in just a few minutes, after tournament supervisor Ralph Brandt finishes up the rules announcement for the crowd. The tournament clock has been rolled back to Level 15 (8:47 minutes remaining), which is the point that Flight 1C ended. Players should be happy to get a little extra time on this Day 2, as things will likely move swiftly with (25) minute levels. Players who hold the average stack (175,000) will start with a very manageable stack, but that ratio to begin to get shallow just a few hours into the day. While everyone has their eye on the $27,560 first place prize, the first goal of the day is to reach the money, which (109) players will do.

Monday, July 8th: Event #1 Players Return To Play For The Trophy (And Over $27,000 Up Top), As The FSPC Continues On
ICYMI: Yesterday was the final pair of starting flights for Event #1 ($175 No Limit Hold'em), with the players showing up in droves. The two flights would amass a total of (449) entries, of which (54) players were successfully able to bag chips for Day 2. The official totals for the tournament, with all starting flights completed, saw the number of entries reach 1,227. The prize pool ballooned to $165,645, which soared past the posted guarantee, and now offers up a first place prize of $27,560. Of the (142) players that will be returning at 12:00pm for Day 2, (109) of them will reach the money, with the top three pay spots scheduled to walk away with five-figure scores.
The action during yesterday's place was exciting (as expected), with Irwin Block bagging Flight 1G chip lead. His 352,000 Day 2 stack sees him returning in the top ten, and also helped him win an Event #9 seat ($1,100 No Limit Hold'em). He bested his nearest opponent by a sizable amount, as Jeanocson Dalcy bagged up the second largest stack, with 298,000.
The overall Day 2 chip leader would come out of Flight 1H, as Daniel Pearlman packed away 470,000 for today's play. He also earned himself an Event #9 seat for his display, besting Adel Jo by over 37,000 chips when the bagging process was completed.

The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes. During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands. From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.
It should also be noted, players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand!!! The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
