CPPT Event #1 (Day 2): Matt Bretzfield The Man to Beat, As Cards Start Flying For Day 2 Of Event #1

2018 Card Player Poker Tour (Isle Casino Pompano Park)
Event #1 | $360 No Limit Hold'em ($200,000 GTD)
Level 17 (Blinds 3,000/6,000/6,ooo)
Total Event #1 Entries: 759
Event #1 Players Remaining: 40

Matt Bretzfield (Kings Park, NY) is currently riding the high of his first five-figure score, which came just over a week ago, during the SHRPO.

The run good is real for Matt Bretzfield (Kings Park, NY), who is just a week removed from his largest tournament cash.  After winning a satellite into the $5,250 No Limit Hold'em SHRPO Championship Event, Matt reached the "unofficial" final table, bowing out in 10th place (which was worth $62,415).  Up to that point in his career, Bretzfield had never cashed in a tournament for more than $7,220.  He starts Day 2 as the overall chip leader (749,000), and is brimming with confidence, as he shares the table with three other top ten Day 2 stacks.

Monday, August 21st: Raul Hernandez Ships First CPPT Trophy (Event #2), As Event #1 Players Return At 2:00PM For Day 2

ICYMI: Yesterday was the final opening flight of Event #1, the last chance for players to try and bag chips for today's Day 2 (2:00pm).  Throughout the afternoon (into evening), the strong pace of entry saw the total number of entries grow to (220) entries, the largest of the six flights to have been played.  Once registration close, players learned that (28) spots would reach the "Day 1 money," of which (11) would bag chips for Day 2.  The money bubble burst shortly after 10:30pm, with action for the evening wrapping up just before 2:00am.  When then bags were brought out, it was Matt Bretzfield who held the top stack, packing away 749,000.  The official counts from Flight 1F are posted below:

Matt Bretzfield - 749,000
David Coughlin - 712,000
Kharlin Sued - 625,000
Zach Milchmann - 469,000
Joshua Hillock - 401,000
Andre Bryan - 349,000
David Albertson - 305,000
Keith Nassetta - 301,000
Butch Mitchell - 183,000
Marc Duquette - 155,000
Nick Avena - 135,000

After six opening flights, Event #1 of the Card Player Poker Tour ended up with (759) total entries, and an official prize pool of $227,700.  There will be (40) players returning at 2:00pm this afternoon, ready to wrap up the tournament, and crown a winner for the opening event of the series.  Everyone returning is already in the money, with a min-cash worth $990, and first place scheduled to take home $40,585.  Live blogged coverage of Day 2 will begin the moment the first hand is dealt, continuing through the event's conclusion.

As the registration was closing for Event #1, the second tournament of the series was just getting underway.  Event #2 was a $130 No Limit Hold'em "Turbo Bounty" ($5,000 GTD), which attracted a total of (43) entries.  Five spots were scheduled to get paid in the event, with the eventual first place winner in line to take away $1,579.  Once the money bubble burst, and Andrew Daire was eliminated in fifth place, the remaining four players agreed to a deal.  Raul Hernandez (West Palm Beach, FL) was declared the event's winner, earning $1,121 for first place money in the deal.  Full Event #2 results are listed below:

  1. Raul Hernandez (West Palm Beach, FL) $1,121
  2. Cindy Chui (Lighthouse Point, FL) $1,048
  3. Patricia Conrad (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) $800
  4. Erin Coley (Lake Worth, FL) $665
  5. Andrew Daire (Boca Raton, FL) $316
Tournaments: There is a full schedule today, with things getting underway at 10:00am.  The day's first event is an $80 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #3 (5 Seats GTD), which is structured with 8,000 unit starting stacks, and (15) minute levels (it is a turbo satellite).  Players in the satellite that win seats, will have a quick turnaround, as Event #3 begins at 3:00pm.

Before Event #3 begins, players will be returning at 2:00pm for Day 2 of Event #1 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $200,000 GTD).  The (40) players that bagged chips will return to their respective stacks, with the only structural difference having to do with level length (Day 2 levels last 40 minutes).  Action will resume with 21:00 minutes remaining in Level 17.

At 3:00pm, Event #3 of the Card Player Poker Tour begins, a $300 No Limit Hold'em "Double Green Chip Bounty."  The tournament is structured with 12,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (30) minutes in length.  Registration for the event is open through Level 8, and the ten minute break that follows (closed once Level 9 resumes).

The final tournament of the day is Event #4 of the Card Player Poker Tour, which gets underway at 6:00pm. The $150 No Limit Hold'em event is structured with 16,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (20) minutes.  Registration is open through Level 8, and the ten minute break that follows (closed once Level 9 resumes).

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-6:00pm, with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
