Sunday, September 17th: Action On The Felt Continues As Weekend Wraps Up

ICYMI: Saturday afternoon's tournament action began at 11:00am, with the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Big Stack Turbo Bounty."  The field was comprised of (27) total entries, and after the optional add-ons were figured into the official number, the prize pool would close at $1,519 ($675 bounty pool).  Once play got down to four-handed, those remaining agreed to an "even chop," with Robert Harrison (Coconut Creek, FL) receiving one dollar less than the rest of the group.

  1. Zaki Lichaa (Pompano Beach, FL) $380
  2. Joseph Patalano (Wellington, FL) $380
  3. David Miller (Davie, FL) $380
  4. Robert Harrison (Coconut Creek, FL) $379
That event was followed at 6:00pm, by a $120 No Limit Hold'em tournament.  Once registration closed (after Level 8), the official numbers would see (36) total entries, and a prize pool of $3,060.  A total of five players would reach the money, and although action continued once the money bubble burst, things would eventually end in a chop.  Tournament notables Jerrold Solov (Pompano Beach, FL) and Tom Gity (Pompano Beach, FL) split things evenly (within a dollar difference), both taking home over $1,009.
  1. Jerrod Solov (Pompano Beach, FL) $1,010
  2. Tom Gity (Pompano Beach, FL) $1,009
  3. Stewart Newmark (Hollywood, FL) $459
  4. Joakim Dag (Pompano Beach, FL) $337
  5. Marcela Newmark (Hollywood, FL) $245

Tournaments: Sunday's tournament slate has two tournaments on the schedule, with the first starting at 12:00pm.  The $150 No Limit Hold'em event that kicks the action off is structured with starting stacks of 20,000 units, and levels lasting (25) minutes throughout the tournament.  The play is deep throughout the event, which is one of the reasons this tournament is one of the more popular with the players on the weekend.

That event is followed by a tournament that is growing in popularity each and every time it is run.  The $130 No Limit Hold'em "Hard Stop, ICM Chop" event sees the cards in the air at 6:00pm, and assures players they will be finished no later than 12:30am.  Players sit down to starting stacks of 20,000 units, with (20) minute levels, but there is a little wrinkle towards the end of the night.  After Level 16, the clock will be paused, and (10) final hands will be played.  Once those hands have finished, those players still left will split the prize pool (according to ICM calculations).

Promotions: For a number of months, Sunday's high hand promotion has been of the "turbo" format, with $300 awarded every (15) minutes from 2:00pm-9:00pm (rollovers apply).  While that promotion is still in place this afternoon, there will be an extra six hours of "turbo" high hands, with $100 awarded every (10) minutes, from 8:00am-2:00pm.  However you break it down, it's $600 worth of high hands up for grabs over the span of (13) hours.  Both tournaments are high hand eligible, adding even more appeal to the events.

11:00am - $150 No Limit Hold'em

- Players will start with 20,000 in tournament chips
- Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
- Alternates and late entries will start with a full stack
- Levels are (25) minutes

6:00pm - $100 No Limit Hold'em "Hard Stop, ICM Chop"

- Players will start with 20,000 in tournament chips
- Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
- Alternates and late entries will start with a full stack
- Levels are (20) minutes
- At the end of Level 16, tables will be balanced and tournament will play (10) more hands, in hard-for-hand format.  Tables will be re-balanced after (5) hands.
- At the end of (10) hands, tournament play will end, and all remaining players will chop the prize pool using an ICM calculation.

Saturday, September 16th: Saturday's "Impromptu" High Hand Promotion Is Front And Center

ICYMI: Friday's $75 No Limit Hold'em tournament attracted a field of (37) entries, and after the optional add-ons were applied to the prize pool, it would officially close at $2,344.  When the payouts were posted, four pay spots would be listed, with first place scheduled to take home $960.  Play would never reach that point though, as a five-way deal was agreed to, allowing for a "bubble spot" to be paid.

  3. Stephen Thomas (Coral Springs, FL) $497

Tournaments: Two events make up Saturday's tournament calendar, with the first getting underway at 11:00am.  The $100 No Limit Hold'em "Big Stack Turbo Bounty" may have a turbo structure, but it still allows for a lot of play as the tournament enters it's later stages.  Players in in the tournament sit down to starting stacks of 18,000 units, with (15) minute levels over the course of the event.  There is an optional add-on at the end of registration (Level 10), with $25 getting players an extra 10,000 units.

The evening tournament, which begins at 6:00pm, is a $120 No Limit Hold'em event.  The structure has players sitting down to starting stacks of 25,000 units, and transitioning levels which start at (20) minutes (Levels 1-8), and finish up at (25) minutes (Levels 9+).

Promotions: On the original October Promotional Calendar, today was scheduled to run with the "standard high hand" throughout the day (awarded every 30 minutes).  That was until an announcement was made earlier this week, noting that from 12:00pm-10:00pm, $400 high hands will be awarded every (15) minutes.

Promotions: It's all about getting to the poker room early on Tuesdays (and Thursdays), as the "Early Bird Full House" promotion offers an awarded cash prize (depending on game plated) for the first (50) full houses of the day (in live cash games).  That promotion is followed by $300 high hands every (15) minutes, from the hours of 12:00pm-4:00pm.

Monday, September 4th: Wrapping Up The Labor Day Weekend, Lots Of High Hand Money Available

ICYMI: Sunday's tournament action opened at 11:00am with a $150 No Limit Hold'em event.  Even without a posted guarantee, the tournament still drew a total of (31) entries, closing with an official prize pool of $3,565.  The posted payouts saw a first place prize over just over $1,600, but play actually stopped on the money bubble, as players agreed to a deal that paid an extra spot.
  1. Janet Solov (Pompano Beach, FL) $713
  2. Michael Bonnett (Aventura, FL) $713
  3. Maury Halperin (Lauderdale By The Sea, FL) $713
  4. Steven Cardarelli (Boynton Beach, FL) $713
  5. Robert Harrison (Coconut Creek, FL) $713
That tournament was followed at 6:00pm by the $130 No Limit Hold'em "Hard Stop, ICM Chop" ($2,500 GTD).  Contrary to some players beliefs, the tournament does have posted payouts, but ends in an ICM chop once Level 16 is reached (and eight hands are played afterwards).  Last night's event had a field of (38) total entries, and an official prize pool of $3,876.  Just like the afternoon's event, players agreed to a deal early, and also paid an extra spot (as posted payouts saw five spots scheduled to get paid).
  1. Lev Binik (Boca Raton, FL) $729
  2. Robert Perez (Weston, FL) $726
  3. Dean Arahovites (Margate, FL) $526
  4. Sergio Amato (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $478
  5. David Miller (Davie, FL) $474
  6. James Tomblin II (Wilton Manors, FL) $445
Tournaments: Today marks the first full week of September tournament action, with the afternoon slot (11:00am) filled by the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Big Stack Turbo Bounty" ($2,000 GTD).  Outside of September 18th, when the "Single-Day Series" satellite is running, this is the tournament that will hold the Monday slot.  The tournament is structured with 18,000 unit starting stacks, and turbo levels of (15) minutes.  There is money to be made with each player you bust, as each elimination is worth $25 (bounties).

The "Big Stack Turbo Bounty" is followed at 6:00pm by a $130 No Limit Hold'em event, structured with 16,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (20) minutes throughout the evening.  This event has a $25,000 guarantee the next two Mondays, but starts September without a posted number, because of the Labor Day holiday.

Promotions: The "bonus high hand promotion" for the day runs from 10:00am-7:00pm, and offers up $500 to the qualifying high hand every (20) minutes.  This same promotion ran just two days ago, and drew a full house in the poker room, so it's likely that things will get busier earlier than normal.  Outside of the 10:00am-7:00pm time period, standard high hands will be in place, with $200 awarded to the qualifying high hand (every 30 minutes).

11:00am - $100 No Limit Hold'em "Big Stack Turbo" w/ $25 Bounties:
- Players will begin with a 18,000 starting stack
- Late and re-entries for the first (10) levels
- Option player "add-on" at the end of Level 10 ($25 for 10,000 tournament chips), with 100% of the "add-on" going to the prize pool
- Levels are (15) minutes in length

6:00pm - $130 No Limit Hold'em

- Players will begin with a 16,000 starting stack
- Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
- Alternates and late entries will receive full stacks
- Levels are (20) minutes in length throughout

Sunday, September 3rd: Full Tournament Slate, And "Turbo" High Hands Headline Labor Day Sunday

ICYMI: The tournament action started on Saturday with the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Big Stack Turbo Bounty."  The event closed with a $1,914 prize pool, with a field that was comprised of (37) total entries.  When the payouts were posted, players would learn that five spots would reach the money in the event.

  1. Fred Alesi (Delray Beach, FL) $569
  2. Francois Gagne (Hillsboro Beach, FL) $552
  3. Zaki Lichaa (Pompano Beach, FL) $429
  4. Anthony James (Boynton Beach, FL) $211
  5. William Gordon (Coral Springs, FL)
Action continued at 6:00pm, with the $120 No Limit Hold'em evening event, a tournament that attracted (52) entries.  Even without a guarantee on the event, the prize pool reached $4,420, with a posted $1,635 first place prize.  Seven players were scheduled to reach the money, with play pausing just before three-handed play began.  A deal was then made at that point, with Pasquale Caiazza (Davie, FL) declared the tournament's winner.
  1. Pasquale Caiazza (Davie, FL) $1,183
  2. Shalom Elharar (Miami, FL) $1,130
  3. Robert Perniola (Pompano Beach, FL) $891
  4. Carlos Torres Vazquez (Weston, FL) $420
  5. Jane Forsythe (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) $332
  6. (Did Not Report) (Tamarac, FL) $265
  7. Roberto Alvarado (Pompano Beach, FL) $199

Tournaments: The Labor Day Weekend tournament action continues Sunday with two events on the schedule, the first of which begins at 11:00am.  The $150 No Limit Hold'em event has been a staple Sunday tournament (except when multi-day tournaments are running), and boasts a very attractive structure.  Players in the tournament sit down to starting stacks of 20,000 units, and play levels lasting (25) minutes throughout the event.

That tournament is followed at 6:00pm, by the $130 No Limit Hold'em "Hard Stop, ICM Chop" ($2,500 GTD).  The event is structured with a 20,000 unit starting stack, and (20) minute levels throughout the evening.  The wrinkle comes towards the "end" of the tournament, as remaining players will enter a "hand-for-hand" process after Level 16.  Once that process is completed, the player's that are left will have their chip counts entered into an ICM calculator, and a chop will conclude the tournament.  The attraction of the tournament is the idea that it begins at 6:00pm, and has a definitive end time just after midnight.

Promotions: For a number of months, Sunday's high hand promotion has been of the "turbo" format, with $300 awarded every (15) minutes from 2:00pm-9:00pm (rollovers apply).  While that promotion is still in place this afternoon, there will be an extra six hours of "turbo" high hands, with $100 awarded every (10) minutes, from 8:00am-2:00pm (rollovers apply).  However you break it down, it's $600 worth of high hands up for grabs over the span of (13) hours.  Both tournaments are high hand eligible, adding even more appeal to the events.

12:00pm - $150 No Limit Hold'em

That tournament is followed at 6:00pm, by a $120 No Limit Hold'em that offers a super-deep structure.  Players in the event sit down to starting stacks of 20,000, with levels of (20) minutes while registration is open.  Once the cards get in the air for Level 9 (and registration is closed), those levels transition to (25) minutes.

Promotions: The high hands on Saturday usually run under the "standard" format, whereas the cash awarded ($200 for NLH/$100 for LHE) is given away every (30) minutes (to the qualifying high hand).  While the morning hours will begin that way (9:00am-1:00pm), what follows from the 1:00pm-10:00pm time period is anything but "standard."

The "bonus promotion" for Saturday is $500 awarded to the qualifying high hands every (20) minutes, from the hours of 1:00pm-10:00pm.
