As the day played out, and Sam Panzica (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) continued to outlast player after player, there was just a sense that he was a favorite to win. Coming off a two "major" wins, including a WPT this month, Sam would fall just a few spots short of that infamous "treble." Panzica would open from the button to 125,000, and after Gamino folded his small blind, Edward Novak would three-bet to 345,000. After a few moments of though, Panzica announced himself all-in, to which Novak would ask for the exact count (2,350,000). Novak made the call and we would have Panzica at risk once the cards were tabled:
Sam Panzica (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) 4th Place - $44,037 |
Panzica: K♠ J♠
Novak: Q♠ Q♥
Runout: Q♦ 5♦ K♥ A♥ 2♣
Sam would quietly mutter his displeasure about the flop, but the turn would actually give him four outs to a win. The deuce was not one of those outs, and the 2016 Florida State Poker Championship Main Event winner would be eliminated in fourth place ($44,037).
