When coverage started for the day, we featured Tom Gity as the chip leader at Level 9, and mentioned his brutal Day 2 last week. It looked as if Tom had turned things around today though, as his 90,000 stack from earlier in the day had turned into 170,000.
After Fletcher McKinney opened the action with a raise to 5,000, one player made the call, followed by Tom Gity three-betting to 25,000. The three-bet would clear the players behind Gity, and allowed for McKinney to just make the call. The player to have flatted released his hand, with Gity and McKinney heads up to a J♥ J♠ 10♥ flop. McKinney checked to Gity, who quickly announced that he was all-in, which was followed by an even faster call from Fletcher. Gity almost seemed surprised to hear McKinney make the call, giving us the largest pot of the flight. Gity tabled his Q♥ Q♦, but couldn't believe it when Fletcher rolled over A♣ A♥.
"Ohh no...not this again," Gity said, referencing a similar type spot from last week. The turn would bring an open-ended straight draw for Tom, but those outs would not amount on the river, giving McKinney the chip lead pot (310,000). Tom would be eliminated a few hands later, left with only 3,000 after shipping over the 146,500 all-in of McKinney.
