Isle Open Event 1 (Flight 1C): Unorthodox Open Leads To Big Pot For Bikus

2017 Isle Open | Event #1
$175 No Limit Hold'em | $100,000 GTD
Level 12 (Blinds 800/1,600/200)
Total Flight 1C Entries: 107
Flight 1C Players Remaining: 35

Paulius Bikus (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) was undeterred by the raise size from Donald Gordon, and ended up winning a huge pot because of it.

With the blinds at 800/1,600/200, Donald Gordon would open the action from under-the-gun more than (8x), tossing out a raise to 13,000.  The size of the raise would see players quickly folding, but when action got to Paulius Bikus, he would just flat the bet.  Action continued to fold around, with the two players going heads-up to a flop of 10 8 7♠.  Gordon once again fired out a bet of 13,000, with Bikus making the call fairly quickly.  After the 3♣ on the turn, Gordon picked things up a little bit, tossing out a bet of 18,000.  Bikus then took the stack of black chips he was shuffling, and dropped them on the felt, while announcing himself all-in a the same time.   Bikus had Gordon covered, so were he to call, it would be for all of his remaining chips.  Donald was visibly defeated, and tossed his cards towards the muck after about thirty seconds of thought.

The pot became so bloated to start, that by the time Gordon released his hand, over 75,000 chips would be headed Bikus's way.  Paulius is now one of the chip leaders in the field (175,000), with only four levels remaining (scheduled) in the flight.  The remaining players in the field will be heading on their final break of the flight at Level 12's conclusion, returning to new blinds of 1,000/2,000/300 (Level 13).
