Sheldon Gross (Hillsboro Beach, FL) looked prime to double up with bottom set, but watched his hand get counterfeited by the runout. |
One would think, that with Pulido holding such a commanding chip lead, that the other three players would be very passive about getting it in. Only two hands after Richard Kirsch's elimination, Sheldon Gross would double to 1,000,000 (through Jacobo Mugrabi). Two hands after that, Gross would be all-in against Francisco Pulido, on a flop of 6♦ 2♦ 7♦. Pulido held A♠ A♣, but Gross had flopped bottom set (2♠ 2♣), and was a turn and river away from closing the gap in a major way. Unfortunately for Gross, the turn and river came out 6♥ 6♠, counterfeiting Sheldon's full house. Sheldon pushed his chip forward in anger, and exited the final table.
