"February $50,000 II" (Day 2): "Always On The River," Lipkins Laments Her Loss

"February $50,000 II"
$175 No Limit Hold'em | $50,000 GTD
Level 19 (Blinds 4,000/8,000/1,000)
Total Entries: 552
Players Remaining: 62

Pedro Palacio (Delray Beach, FL) gave a little celebratory fist pump after riveting Linda Pipkins, as he won a pot worth well over 300,000.

Linda Lipkins (Boca Raton, FL) just experienced the ugly side of variance, as her 160,000 stack was all-in pre-flop, against tournament veteran Pedro Palacio (Delray Beach, FL).  Lipkins was racing with A♠ K, against the J♠ J♣ of Palacio, and was able to fade the runout (through the turn).  With only six outs in the deck for Palacio, he managed to find one of the river, as the A♣ hit the felt.  "Always on the river." Lipkins said aloud, as he began to collect her things and exit the tournament area.

Palacio, who came into the day with 182,000, is now close to 390,000, and sits with one of the top ten stacks in the field.

Perdo Palacio - 388,000 (48bb)

The field is now just over ten eliminations from the money, which should be reached before the first break of the day (which is scheduled for fifty minutes from now).
