Ray Millard (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) became the chip leader just moments, eliminating Bruce Snell, in what was the largest pot of the tournament. |
The eyes were on Table 3, while a four-way hand was unfolding, but they should have been on Table 9. We turned around to see pot of over 1,000,000 chips, and quickly ran over to the table. The hand was between Bruce Snell and Ray Millard, with the two on the river, on a board that read 7♦ 5♥ 3♦ 8♣ K♠. The pot had already swelled to over seven figures, and Millard had announced himself all-in (for over 700,000). Snell (who had 380,000 left) was standing up, and actually began to collect his belongings, before announcing a call. Millard tabled K♥ K♦, having rivered a set, and hitting a two-outer against Snell's 5♦ 5♣. Bruce's premonition about having the second best hand was correct, and he'd be eliminated in 36th place ($1,315).
Millard becomes the overwhelming chip leader with the pot, and is the first player to eclipse the 2,000,000 chip mark.
Ray Millard - 2,000,000 (250bb)
