John Mayers couldn't envision a better stack, almost doubling his Day 2 starting stack in the first fifteen minutes of play. |
For players that entered Day 2 below the chip average, getting off to a quick start is critical to eventual success. John Mayers came into the day with a stack of 126,000, and would open the action at Table 7, with a raise to 10,000. Neal Corcoran called out of the small blind, and the two would see a flop of 7♠ 4♠ 4♣. Corcoran would then check-shove for close to 70,000, after Mayers continued with a flop bet of 15,000. Mayers quickly made the call, and the hands would be tabled:
Mayers: A♣ 7♥
Corcoran: 7♦ 6♣
Turn: 8♥
River: 2♦
Corcoran seemed surprised when he found out what he was up against, and while he turned some outs to a straight, the river would seal his Day 2 fate.
John Mayers - 220,000 (55bb)
