Tuesday, May 21st: Dennis Brinn Continues Good Form, Tops Seven-Way Chop Of "Chip Buster"

ICYMI: At 1:00pm yesterday afternoon, (177) players returned for Day 2 of the $130 No Limit Hold'em "Chip Buster" ($75,000 GTD).  There was a buzz across the room as the first hand was dealt, with players focusing on reaching the money (106 players would do so), and potentially grabbing some of those healthy final table payouts.  It would take just over two hours to reach the money, with the players then dropping at a rapid rate.  The final table was reached at about 8:30pm, and after three eliminations, the deal-making would begin.  Players eventually agreed to a seven-way chop, with Dennis Brinn taking home first place money.  The official final table payouts are listed below, with full results from the event to follow:
  1. Dennis Brinn (New Jersey) $11,923
  2. Michael Newman (Nanuet, NY) $11,123
  3. Robert Chusid (Cooper City, FL) $8,360
  4. Michael Johnson (Miami, FL) $7,735
  5. Christopher Zollo (Boynton Beach, FL) $6,690
  6. Jonathan Sanchez (Sunrise, FL) $6,190
  7. Michael Stewartson (Margate, FL) $5,941
  8. Stephen Bristow (Deltona, FL) $2,485
  9. Michael Corbett (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $1,860
  10. Joyce Osburn (Millersburg, OH) $1,525
At 6:00pm, we saw the return to the recurring tournament schedule, with the $90 No Limit Hold'em ($1,500 GTD).  After eight levels of open registration, the field would close with (10) entries, and a prize pool that was right on the number ($1,500).  Two players were scheduled to walk away with some nice payouts ($975 for first, and $525 for second), with official results listed below:
  1. Joshua Welch (Key Largo, FL) $900
  2. Joseph Rozek (Boynton Beach, FL) $600
Tournaments: Tuesday's schedule begins at 11:00am, with a little mixed-game action, and the $150 Limit Omaha 8B Hi/Lo ($2,000 GTD) event.  The tournament is structured with 15,000 unit starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and registration that is open through Level 8.  The mixed-game players show up strong each week, so you can count on a sizable prize pool for this tournament, well above the posted guarantee.

At 3:00pm, the focus turns to this weekend's multi, which is a $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD).  This afternoon is the first of eight satellites for the tournament, with a $50 buy-in, and (3) seat guarantee.

The 6:00pm event has quickly become a favorite of the recurring tournament players.  The $130 No Limit Hold'em "Chip Buster" has a $2,000 guaranteed prize pool, which is sure to be surpassed, by the time registration closes.  The tournament is structured with 50,000 unit starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and has registration that is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows).

Promotions: Outside of the "standard" high hands, the poker opens with the "new" Full House Promotion.  The proceedings begin once the doors of the poker room open, with the first (25) full houses made, earning a $40 prize.  Each jackpot eligible cash game is included in the promotion, with two rules to keep in mind, when thinking about winning the $40.  In order to be eligible, the full  house must be made using two cards, and must be the winning hand.

The day's "standard" high hand period will last from 9:00am-12:00am, with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).

From 12:00am-3:00am, the high hand will be awarded $100 every (60) minutes.
