Wednesday, October 12th: Charlemagne Benjamin's Multi-Day Run Helps Secure Weekly Leaderboard Win, With A Day Off To Reset

ICYMI: Tuesday's $160 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD) was an important tournament for a few reasons, but the fact that it was the deciding event for the second-ever Weekly Leaderboard, was the detail that made the event stand out.  A total of (45) entries showed on the tournament clock (at registration's end), which equated to an official prize pool of $5,490.  Two installments of a new tournament, and two guarantees surpassed...it's definitely a recipe for making sure the event sticks on the calendar.  Of those entries, a total of nine players reached the money, with action playing down to an outright winner.  Ian Cohen (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) walked away in first place, earning himself $2,197 (and 18.01 leaderboard points).  While that wasn't enough to put him in the top two of the weekly leaderboard, Cohen is not in contention for the monthly running.  Official results from the tournament are listed below, as well as a finalized Weekly Leaderboard and Player of the Month leaderboard:

  1. Ian Cohen (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $2,197

ICYMI: Monday's $250 No Limit Hold'em "Final Table Finish" ($20,000 GTD) was a great example of the power that comes with taking home first place (whether in a deal, or outright).  After the event attracted a total of (159) entries (and an official prize pool of $33,072), the posted payouts raised eyebrows across the room.  The tournament would play through the money bubble, and down to a five-handed final table.  The remaining handful agreed to a deal, with Martin Borras (Deerfield Beach, FL) earning first place money (and the lion's share of the prize pool).  Official results are listed below, along with updated leaderboards:

Tournaments: At 6:00pm this evening, the $250 No Limit Hold'em ($10,000 GTD) "Final Table Finish" returns, with a little wrinkle.  This particular tournament had such a good structure, that the final table action ran into the closing time of the poker room (players are then faced with chopping, or bagging for a Day 2).  To keep that from occurring, there will be some slight changes moving forward.

The event will be structured with 25,000 chip starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and open registration through Level 8 (and the break that follows).  The new format-wrinkle comes into play when discussing payouts, as the tournament will pay out just the final table, regardless of how many entries.  Exact payout percentages are as follows (final tables are now nine-handed):
  1. 40%
  2. 18%
  3. 10%
  4. 7%

Tournaments: At 3:00pm, the cards get in the air for our $400 No Limit Hold'em ($20,000 GTD), an event that is sure to attract some South Florida's best tournament players.  The event's structure will see players sitting down to starting stacks of 20,000, and playing (25) minute levels.  Registration is open through Level 8, and the short break that follows.

With the way tournaments have been at the Isle Casino Pompano Park, it should come as not surprise, if this event surpasses all expectations.  Those looking to get updates on numbers, can follow the action on the Bravo Poker Live app.  All results from this afternoon's action will be recapped tomorrow on the blog.
