Tuesday, August 10th: Irwin Block Increases Leaderboard Gap, After Taking Home First Place In "Final Table Finish" Deal!

ICYMI: Whenever racing long distances, many "experts" tout the ability to "cover the distance." So while it may not be about a quick start or strong finish, putting a gap between first and second can never hurt!  Irwin Block had already stood atop the leaderboard rankings, so topping last night's chop of the $250 No Limit Hold'em "Final Table Finish" ($10,000 GTD) was very helpful towards finding himself in Las Vegas for the $10,000 WSOP Main Event.

The tournament attracted a very healthy field of (146) entries, which equated to an official prize pool of $30,368.  The uptick in entries meant that first place was scheduled to take home over $12,000, with the top three spots earning a lion's share of the prize pool.  That meant it was a little easier for players to agree to a deal, considering everyone was walking away with over $3,330!  Irwin's first place finish earned him $5,224, and increased his lead on the Player of the Month leaderboard.  Official results from the tournament are listed below:
  1. Irwin Block (Pompano Beach, FL) $5,224
  2. David Lopez (Pembroke Pines, FL) $5,060
  3. Paul Oken (Boca Raton, FL) $4,831
  4. Nigel Murray (Miramar, FL) $4,670
  5. Luis Dominguez (Miami, FL) $3,608
  6. Lascelles Peart (Royal Palm Beach, FL) $3,331
  7. Jonathan Marcu (Boca Raton, FL) $1,822
  8. James Powers (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $911
  9. Franklin Rojas (Plantation, FL) $911
The most recently updated Player of the Month leaderboard is listed below:

Promotions: From 10:00am (the minute the doors open) until 11:00pm, $300 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes. ICYMI: Updated Player Of The Month Leaderboard (As Of July 26th)

Tuesday, July 27th: Bursch Tops Seven-Way Chop Of "Final Table Finish," No Leaderboard Shifts To Note

ICYMI: With the Player of the Month leaderboard taking most of the headlines, we shouldn't lose sight of the impressive numbers that each tournament attracts.  Monday night's $250 No Limit Hold'em "Final Table Finish" ($10,000 GTD) is the "hidden gem," of the weekly tournament schedule, offering payouts that are unheard of (for daily events).  Last night's installment saw registration close with (130) entries, and an official prize pool of $27,300.  With first place scheduled to take home over $10,000, the competitive buzz could be felt across the poker room floor.

Because of those strong payouts, players were open to talking deal early, with the action ending in a seven-way chop.  Edward Burch (Daytona Beach, FL) took down first place in the chop, with official results from the tournament listed below:
  1. Edward Burch (Daytona Beach, FL) $5,175
  2. Anthony Casas (Miami, FL) $4,520

ICYMI: Updated Player Of The Month Leaderboard (As Of July 25th)

Monday, July 26th: David McMahon Tops Five-Way Deal In Sunday's $20,000 GTD, "Final Table Finish" Ready To Award Heaps Of Leaderboard Points

ICYMI: Yesterday saw the second-ever installment of the $400 No Limit Hold'em ($20,000 GTD), and while it did not attract the same numbers as two weeks ago, the guarantee was still comfortably surpassed.  Registration for the tournament closed with (73) entries, which equated to a prize pool of $25,550.  The payouts were strong, with first place scheduled to take home over $8,000.  Those number were eventually altered, as the evening's action ended in a five-way deal, topped by David McMahon (who walked away with $6,864).

In Player of the Month leaderboard news, Donald William creeped even closer to the top spot, after his eighth place finish.  Official results from the tournament are listed below, with an updated leaderboard to be posted this afternoon:
  1. David McMahon (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $6,864
  2. Daniel Miller (Pompano Beach, FL) $4,244
  3. Phillip West (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $4,070
  4. Brian Levine (Pompano Beach, FL) $2,732
  5. David Inselberg (Boca Raton, FL) $2,580
  6. Ursula Buffa (Pompano Beach, FL) $1,278

  8. Donald Williams (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $1,022
  9. Rafael Guerrero (Hollywood, FL) $869
  10. Edward Russell (Pompano Beach, FL) $767
Tournaments: At 6:00pm this evening, the $250 No Limit Hold'em ($10,000 GTD) "Final Table Finish" returns, with a little wrinkle.  This particular tournament had such a good structure, that the final table action ran into the closing time of the poker room (players are then faced with chopping, or bagging for a Day 2).  To keep that from occurring, there will be some slight changes moving forward.

The event will be structured with 25,000 chip starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and open registration through Level 8 (and the break that follows).  The new format-wrinkle comes into play when discussing payouts, as the tournament will pay out just the final table, regardless of how many entries.  Exact payout percentages are as follows (final tables are now eight-handed):
  1. 40%
  2. 20%
  3. 10%
  4. 7%
  5. 7%
  6. 6%
  7. 5%
  8. 5%
Promotions: From 10:00am (the minute the doors open) until 11:00pm, $300 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes. These high hands must be aces-full or better, use both hole cards, and be the winning hand (in a pot that has at least $10).  From 11:00pm until close, $100 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes.

In addition to the high hands, there is a "bonus" promotion in place, which offers $1,000 to the highest hand from the 10:00am-12:00pm time period.  If a player makes a straight flush in the 10:00am-10:30am qualifying period, and that is the best qualifying high hand from 10:00am-12:00pm, they will earn an extra $1,000 (in addition to the $300 they were awarded for the half-hour time period).

6:00pm: $250 No Limit Hold'em "Final Table Finish" ($10,000 GTD)
  • Players start with 25,000 in tournament chips
  • Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
  • Alternates and late entries will start with a full stack
  • Levels will last (20) minutes
