Now that the orange (1,000 denomination) chips have been taken out of play, it makes collecting the chip counts a little easier (and quicker).  The field took their second break of the day just moments ago, with (62) players still vying for the Event 16 trophy.  Accomplished poker professional Brian Hastings has flown under the radar until now (which is usually difficult for a player with $2,500,000 in live earnings alone), and he was about to be the chip leader at the break...until he was involved in a huge hand with Daniel Pearlman (Pembroke Pines, FL).

With a short stack shoving from early position, action folded around to Daniel Pearlman, who re-shoved from the small blind (for approximately 500,000).  Hastings was in the big blind with over 1,000,000, and decided to make the call, putting both players at risk.  Pearlman had A A♠ against Hasting's KJ (third player has A 8♣), and after the K♠5♠ J♣ flop, it looked as if Hastings was going to take a commanding chip lead.  The board would pair on the river with another five though, counterfeiting Hastings's flopped two pair, and giving Pearlman the pot worth well over 1,000,000.

Daniel Pearlman - 1,500,000
Rami Ezra - 1,400,000
Jeff Burdeen - 1,300,000
Will "O" - 1,100,000
Arie Benmayor - 1,100,000
Brian Hastings - 900,000
Steve Olivier - 900,000
