"August $150,000" (Day 2): Delcid Eliminates Michael Newman On The Bubble

Level 16 (Blinds 2,000/4,000/500)
Total Entries: 792
Players Remaining: 99/792

Jose Delcid (Florida)

Michael Newman started the day with over 181,000, but was just eliminated on the bubble, losing the "classic race" to Jose Delcid.  Moments after Tournament Director Ralph Brandt made the announcement that hand-for-hand play was going to begin, we passed Table 9 just as Newman verbalized his all-in (for just over 80,000).  Jose Delcid took little time before making the call, and the hands would be tabled, with Newman's A♣ K♠ against Jose's Q♠ Q.  The board would run out 2 3♠ 3♠ 7♠ 9, with Newman walking away from the table just before the river hit the felt.  He would be called back to the table, waiting to see if another table would be eliminated on the same hand, in which case they would split 99th place money.  Unfortunately for Newman, that wouldn't be the case, and he would be the "August $150,000" bubble boy.
