Friday, January 26th: "January $100,000" Continues, With $2,500 Single-Ante Sandwiched In Between

ICYMI: Yesterday's tournament action saw the opening pair of starting flights for the "January $100,000," a $250 No Limit Hold'em tournament, that has a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.  A total of (84) entries made up Flight 1A, with the final entrant jumping into the action just registration closed (after Level 12, and the break that follows).  Once the final hands were dealt in Level 15, the bagging process would begin, with William Underdown packing up the largest stack from the flight (185,000).  Rounding out the top three stacks were Isle Poker notable Scott Zakheim (167,000), and tournament veteran Larry Kusch (139,000).  There rest of the official chip counts from Flight 1A can be found by clicking here.

Just as the action was winding down for Flight 1A, things were just getting started for the 6:00pm flight (Flight 1B).  After twelve levels of open registration, the flight would officially close with (116) entries, with (17) players reaching the bagging process.  We saw some much larger stacks make it into a bag from the evening flight, with David Poces leading the way (305,000).  Engelbarth Varela (255,000) and Zack Fish (233,000) rounded out the top three, with the official list of counts from the flight found by clicking here.

After the first day of play for the "January $100,000," there were a total of (200) entries, which equates to $39,400 going towards the prize pool.  That's almost half the way towards the posted guarantee, with four flights still left to be played.

Tournaments: The second pair of starting flights for the event are on today's schedule, with Flight 1C beginning at 11:00am.  Each of the flights are structured the same, with players sitting down to starting stacks of 18,000 units, and levels that last (30) minutes.  Registration is open until the end of Level 12 (and the break that follows), with opening flight play scheduled to conclude at the end of Level 15 (or if 10% of the field remains at any point beforehand).  Flight 1D will follow at 6:00pm, and expects to be the largest of the four to have been played.

This event will have live blogged coverage, with updates from each of the afternoon (11:00am) starting flights, as well as detailed Day 2 coverage.

Also getting some blog love throughout the day, will be the $2,500 No Limit Hold'em Single-Ante ($100,000 GTD), which gets underway at 12:00pm.   Registration is now open through Level 10, allowing for players who can not make it until later in the day, to still join the action.  The players still sit down to 100,000 unit starting stacks, and play levels that last (30) minutes over the course of the event.  As always, the tournament will run with a single-ante being posted by the big blind.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am (midnight), with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible (Isle Open events not eligible for high hand) each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.  From 12:00am-9:00am, players are eligible for $100 high hands every hour.

It should also be noted that started back on November 1st, players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand!!!  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).
