Wednesday, March 21st: Donavan Dominates Omaha...Big Four-Way Deal In Single-Ante...Satellite Wednesday Is Upon Us

ICYMI: Battles At The Beach action started at 11:00am yesterday afternoon, as the mixed-game players arrived for Event #12, a $250 Limit Omaha 8B ($10,000 GTD) event.  The guarantee was surpassed before Level 4, which was the midway point of open registration.  The field would close with (62) total entries, and an official prize pool of $12,710.  Eight players were scheduled to reach the money, and once the bubble was burst, the storyline of the tournament would emerge.  When play was seven-handed, Andrew Donavan (Pompano Beach, FL) held more than sixty percent of the chips in play, and it seemed like a title win was just a matter of time.  The rest of the players held less than ten to fifteen big bets each, and just tried to do their best to ladder up.  Donovan would get his hands on the title just after 6:30pm, taking home the $4,575 first place prize, along with the trophy.  Listed below are the full results from the event:
  1. Andrew Donavan (Pompano Beach, FL) $4,575
  2. Bradley Wexler (Hobe Sound, FL) $2,688
  3. Steven Roth (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $1,684
  4. Eric Von Guttenberg (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $1,144
  5. Allen Green (Weston, FL) $890
  6. Robert Campbell (North Miami, FL) $699
  7. Pattarporn Vorbeck (Pompano Beach, FL) $572
  8. Perry Werbel (Margate, FL) $458
The storyline for the evening tournament (Event #13 $175 No Limit Hold'em Single-Ante $25,000 GTD) was the numbers...as (255) made up the field after registration's close.  The prize pool ballooned to $35,700, which then offered up a first place prize over $8,000!!!  A total of (32) players would reach the money in the event, with the following names just a few to cash short of the final table: Peter Bejusca (30th place), Henry Behr (25th place), David Zaldivar (21st place), Michael Newman (18th place), Raymond Nalbandian (15th place), and David Coughlin (11th place).  Once the final table was reached, action would play down to the point where things were four-handed, with an even chop agreed to.  Garrick Young (Miami Gardens, FL) would end up the trophy winner, but took the same amount of money as Michael Bonsignore (Hollywood, FL) and Adel Jo (Miami, FL).  David Shaw (Boca Raton, FL), who rounded out the deal, ended up taking just a single dollar less than the other three.  Full results of the final table are listed below:
  1. Garrick Young (Miami Gardens, FL) $4,963
  2. Michael Bonsignore (Hollywood, FL) $4,963
  3. Adel Jo (Miami, FL) $4,963
  4. David Shaw (Boca Raton, FL) $4,962
  5. Ian Cohen (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $1,719
  6. Earl Carroll (Lantana, FL) $1,424

  8. Butch Mitchell (Pompano Beach, FL) $1,000
  9. John Valevich (Sunny Isles Beach, FL) $820
