The "main event" chip set is out, and players are heading to their seats in the tournament area, with Day 1A of Event #14 ($1,500 NLH Florida State Poker Championship Main Event $500,000 GTD) about to begin. The premier event of the series, Event #14 offers up one of the best structures for a $1,500 buy-in main event, with players sitting down to starting stacks of 30,000 units. Levels 1-12 will last (50) minutes long (which is the entirety of Day 1), and will transition to (60) minutes on Day 2 (Levels 13+). Registration for the event is open through Level 12 (all of Day 1), and stays open until the first hand is dealt on Monday (Day 2).
With the recent growth of this particular event, this year's installment is expected to be something very special. Last year's FSPC Main Event attracted a total of (548) entries, and had an official prize pool of $739,000. Daryl Jace (Saugus, MA) bested Samuel Mayer-Backer to win the title, taking home $142,173 for his efforts.
Some of the communities biggest names will be in attendance over the next four days, as well as appearances from Scotty Nguyen and Vanessa Rousso. Scotty is scheduled to play in today's 1A, while Vanessa is scheduled to arrive for tomorrow's 1B. Both players will be available for an hour long "meet and greet" this Saturday (July 28th), scheduled to run form 12:30pm-1:30pm.
Live blogged coverage of Event #14 will offer updates through each of the starting days, and will continue through Day 2, and Day 3 of the tournament.
