Isle Open Event #3 (Day 2): Andrew David Sends Igor Korkhin To The Rail, In Largest Day 2 Pot Yet

Andrew Davis (Delray Beach, FL) was having a little fun with Igor Korkhin, only using small chips to call wagers, but things got serious on the river.

We just happened to approach Table 3, to witness the largest pot of the afternoon, between Igor Korkhin and Andrew Davis.  Igor had raised from early position (using only orange chips, which are 1,000 denomination), with Davis making the from the cutoff.  Following the Q♣ J♣ 5♠ flop, Korkhin bet out 23,000, once again using just orange chips.  Davis casually made the call, asking Igor, "Should I use only oranges as well?"

The turn then brought the 5, with Korkhin pushing forward his remaining two stacks of orange chips, equaling 46,000.  This time, Davis collected his own orange denomination chips, and pushed them forward for the call (getting a little rise out of the rest of the table).  The board completed with the 8♠, and with no more oranges to bet, Igor put out a bet of 45,000 (leaving just over 200,000 behind).  David replied by announcing himself all-in (having Igor covered), which seemed to shock Korkhin, who decided to make the call.

Davis rolled over 10♠ 9♠, having rivered the straight, with Korkhin disgustingly tabling Q Q (having flopped top set).  Davis is now the chip leader in the field, and also the first player to eclipse the 1,000,000 mark.

Andrew Davis - 1,300,000 (103bb)
