Thursday, October 4th: Event #1 Of The 2018 Isle Open Continues, After A Strong Start To The Series

ICYMI: Yesterday was the opening day of the 2018 Isle Open, with all of the focus surrounding Event #1, which is a $200 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD).  The day's schedule got started with a $50 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #1, which guaranteed a total of (3) seats.  There would be exactly $600 in the prize pool (the three seat guarantee), after a total of (15) entries made up the field at registration's close.  The following players earned an Event #1 seat from the satellite:
  1. Richard Aronson (2018 Isle Open Event #1 Seat)
  2. Eugene Mirabello (2018 Isle Open Event #1 Seat)
  3. JC Madrid (2018 Isle Open Event #1 Seat)
While the satellite was going on, the opening flight of Event #1 got underway, and ended up surpassing everyone's expectations.  Registration for Flight 1A would close with (73) entries, and a prize fund of $11,534.  After sixteen full levels were played, the flight would conclude with (9) players remaining, who would then bag their chips up for Sunday's Day 2.  Harry Silver (Pompano Beach, FL) grabbed the overall chip lead during Level 14, and while he was eclipsed by a few players during the final hour of play, he ended up packing the largest Flight 1A stack.  Official chip counts from the flight are posted below:

Harry Silver - 325,000
Allan Bieler - 265,000
Danny Blackburn - 211,000
Arthur Gallinaro - 167,000
Aaron Robbins - 136,000
Stanton Drazen - 128,000
Michael Eddy - 116,000
Keith Mackworth - 87,000
Larry Kusch - 56,000

Flight 1B of Event #1 ($200 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD) began just as the opening flight was reaching it's later stages, and wrapped up in the early morning hours.  The official details from the flight have not yet been released, but will be posted on the blog shortly after the poker room opens (around 9:00am).

Tournaments: After two very successful flights for Event #1 of the Isle Open, we continue with the second pair of flights, and another $50 No Limit Hold'em Satellite (5 Seats) guaranteed.  The day's action begins at 11:00am, with Flight 1C of Event #1. There are six flights over the next three days, with players that bag chips returning on Sunday (at 12:00pm) for Day 2.  Each of the flights are structured with 20,000 unit starting stacks, levels that last (30) minutes, and registration that is open through Level 8 (and the break that follows).  Play is scheduled to conclude after Level 16, or when the field reaches the 10% mark, whichever happens first.

Flight 1D of Event #1 is in the 6:00pm time slot, and carries the same structure as the afternoon flight before it.  There will be live blogged coverage of Flight 1C, with the official chip counts from both flights to be posted in the early morning hours (Tuesday).

Sandwiched in between the flights (2:00pm), is the $50 No Limit Hold'em Satellite Into Event #1, which guarantees (5) seats. The satellite is structured with 8,000 unit starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and registration that lasts eight levels.

Promotions: From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am, with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).

From 12:00am-3:00am, the high hand will be awarded $100 every (60) minutes.
