Wednesday, October 17th: The Isle Open Continues On, With It's Third "Headlining" Event Of The Series

ICYMI: Yesterday's Isle Open schedule started at 12:00pm, with the first (and only) non-no limit hold'em event of the series.  Event #4 was a $250 Omaha 8B Hi/Lo tournament, which boasted a healthy $8,000 guaranteed prize pool.  After eight levels (of thirty minutes each), and a ten minute break, the field would close with (56) entries.  Once the payouts were posted, players learned that seven spots were scheduled to reach the money, and get a piece of the $11,480 prize pool.  Action continued once the money bubble burst, but eventually paused prior to an outright conclusion, with the final three players making a deal.  The chop was an even one, with each player receiving $2,774, and Mitchell Smith declared the tournament's winner:
  1. Mitchell Smith (Palm Beach, FL) $2,774
  2. Frank Argano (Hollywood, FL) $2,774
  3. Lazaro Rodriguez (Miami, FL) $2,774
  4. Sandy Sanchez (Parkland, FL) $1,091
  5. Andrew Gordon (Miami Beach, FL) $861
  6. Scott Mersky (West Palm Beach, FL) $689
  7. Angelo Disalvo (Pompano Beach, FL) $517
As Event #4 was winding down, Event #5 ($175 No Limit Hold'em $25,000 GTD) was getting started, with the cards in the air at 6:00pm.  The tournament's field closed with (153) entries, and an official prize pool that landed directly on the posted number.  A total of (20) players were scheduled to reach the money, with the following notables recording cashes (that were short of the final table): Michael Corbett (18th place), Steve Varela (17th place),  Joseph Duchman (13th place), and Robert Williams (11th place).  The final table action played down to the point where things were four-handed, with a chop then agreed to.  Rafael Guerrero held the chip lead at the time of the deal, and would be awarded the trophy (along with first place money).  Final table results are posted below:
  1. Rafael Guerrero (Hollywood, FL) $4,084
  2. David Rivera (Davie, FL) $4,035
  3. Devin Brodman (Coconut Creek, FL) $3,925
  4. Steven Bennett (Deerfield Beach, FL) $3,163

  6. Fabio Santos (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $1,000
  7. Anthony Vulpis (Pompano Beach, FL) $869
  8. Maury Halperin (Lauderdale By The Sea, FL) $780

Tournaments: After one day off from the multi-flight action, another "headlining" event of the Isle Open begins today, with Event #6 ($360 No Limit Hold'em $100,000 GTD) getting underway at 11:00am.  There are eight flights for the event, with the first pair on today's schedule (one at 11:00am, and the other at 6:00pm).  The tournament is scheduled with 25,000 unit starting stacks, and levels that last (30) minutes (on Day 1, eventually shifting to 40 minutes on Day 2).  Registration for each flight is open through Level 8, with play scheduled to conclude when the field reaches the 10% mark. Player that bag chips from each flight, will be returning on Sunday (at 12:00pm) to finish out the event.

At 3:00pm, a $90 No Limit Hold'em Satellite for Event #6 gets underway, guaranteeing three seats into the tournament.

Promotions: The day begins with the "New Early Bird" Full House Promotion, which started August 27th, and runs every Monday.  Opposed to the full house promotion that includes all games, this particular promotion is for the limit hold'em players.  Starting at 9:00am, the first (25) full houses (in a limit game), will be awarded $40 each.

From (9:00am-10:00am), the high hand will award $150 every (30) minutes.  The high hands will then transition from 10:00am-12:00am, with the opportunity to win $400 every (30) minutes.  During that period, the promotion sees tournament players eligible each half-hour for $100 high hands, 2/2 limit hold'em players eligible for $200 high hands, 2/4 limit hold'em players eligible for $300 high hands, and all other raked games (1/2-5/10 NLH, 4/8 Omaha 8B, 6/12 O.E., etc.) eligible for $400 high hands.

It should also be noted that players are able to win the high hand using only one card in their hand.  The payouts for those that use one card are different than the standard numbers listed above, and can be found (full listing of one-card payouts on flyers in the poker room).

From 12:00am-3:00am, the high hand will be awarded $100 every (60) minutes.
