Isle Poker Classic Event #1 (Flight 1E): TJ Shulman Wins "Flip," Doubles His 30,000 Unit Starting Stack

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #1)
$200 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack"
$100,000 GTD
Level 7 (Blinds 300/600/600)
Total Flight 1E Entries: 124

TJ Shulman (Boynton Beach, FL) didn't have the right read when calling his opponent's all-in, but things ended up working out for him in the long run.

Taking a lap of the field to spot some late arrivals, a hand was caught at one of the outer tables, involving TJ Shulman (Boynton Beach, FL)...who just happened to be a late arrival.  At the time we arrived at Table 7, Shulman had just called the all-in of an opponent, who had a stack close to 25,000 (Shulman had him covered).  "What am I flipping against," TJ said, as he turned over A♠ Q.  That wasn't quite the case for Shulman, who was dominated by AK♠.  That was until the flop came out queen high, giving TJ top pair, which held up through the runout.  He left his opponent shaking his head (and mumbling to himself), while scooping up the pot.  Shulman has not doubled his 30,000 unit starting stack, and is off to a very quick start.

TJ Shulman - 65,000 (108bb)
