ICYMI: Updated Player Of The Month Leaderboard (As Of August 15th)

Monday, August 16th: David Lopez Wins $400 No Limit Hold’em ($20,000 GTD) Outright, “Final Table Finish” Headlines Today’s Schedule

ICYMI: Sunday's $400 No Limit Hold'em ($20,000 GTD) was running for a consecutive week (first time ever), and there was a noticeable increase in numbers.  Registration for the tournament closed with a total of (134) entries, which was almost double that of last weekend (74 entries on August 9th).  The $46,632 prize pool more than doubled the posted guarantee, and is just an impressive number for a recurring event.  First place was scheduled to take home over $13,000, and that's just what the first place finisher did...there would be no deals, as David Lopez (Pembroke Pines, FL) bested the field.  The 37.85 were also of great value to David, as he now sits in the second position, just a earshot away from Irwin Block's number.  Irwin's early distancing seemed like it could be a tall task to overcome, but Lopez has done it in a matter of weeks.  Official results from yesterday's tournament are listed below:

  1. David Lopez (Pembroke Pines, FL) $13,173
  2. Altaboal Mohamed (Miami, FL) $8,335
  3. Omar Sader (Pompano Beach, FL) $4,943
  4. Richard Leger (Lighthouse Point, FL) $3,031
  5. Jonathan Marcu (Boca Raton, FL) $2,308
  6. Willie Wiggins (Pembroke Pines, FL) $1,959

  15. Jason Shoats (Lighthouse Point, FL) $1,026
  16. Irwin Block (Pompano Beach, FL) $898
  17. Nathan Thrush (Post Falls, CA) $898

Tournaments: At 6:00pm this evening, the $250 No Limit Hold'em ($10,000 GTD) "Final Table Finish" returns, with a little wrinkle.  This particular tournament had such a good structure, that the final table action ran into the closing time of the poker room (players are then faced with chopping, or bagging for a Day 2).  To keep that from occurring, there will be some slight changes moving forward.

The event will be structured with 25,000 chip starting stacks, (20) minute levels, and open registration through Level 8 (and the break that follows).  The new format-wrinkle comes into play when discussing payouts, as the tournament will pay out just the final table, regardless of how many entries.  Exact payout percentages are as follows (final tables are now nine-handed):
  1. 40%
  2. 18%
  3. 10%
  4. 7%
  5. 7%
  6. 6%
  7. 6%
  8. 3%
  9. 3%
Promotions: From 10:00am (the minute the doors open) until 11:00pm, $300 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes. These high hands must be aces-full or better, use both hole cards, and be the winning hand (in a pot that has at least $10).  From 11:00pm until close, $100 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes.

ICYMI: Friday's $160 No Limit Hold'em ($5,000 GTD) offered players another chance to not only record an Isle Casino Pompano Park tournament score, but grab those ever-valuable leaderboard points as well.  While the tournament field was smaller than we've seen in weeks past (107 entries), the prize pool was still super healthy, due to the increased buy-in for the event.  A total of $13,054 was up for grabs, scheduled to be spread across the final (14) players in the tournament.  Once the money bubble burst, action continued until four-handed play, at which point a deal was struck between the remaining players.  Pedro Palacio returned to a familiar place, as he topped the chop, taking home $2,471 for first place (along with 20.25 leaderboard points).  The official results from the tournament are listed below:

Tuesday, August 10th: Irwin Block Increases Leaderboard Gap, After Taking Home First Place In "Final Table Finish" Deal!

ICYMI: Whenever racing long distances, many "experts" tout the ability to "cover the distance." So while it may not be about a quick start or strong finish, putting a gap between first and second can never hurt!  Irwin Block had already stood atop the leaderboard rankings, so topping last night's chop of the $250 No Limit Hold'em "Final Table Finish" ($10,000 GTD) was very helpful towards finding himself in Las Vegas for the $10,000 WSOP Main Event.

The tournament attracted a very healthy field of (146) entries, which equated to an official prize pool of $30,368.  The uptick in entries meant that first place was scheduled to take home over $12,000, with the top three spots earning a lion's share of the prize pool.  That meant it was a little easier for players to agree to a deal, considering everyone was walking away with over $3,330!  Irwin's first place finish earned him $5,224, and increased his lead on the Player of the Month leaderboard.  Official results from the tournament are listed below:
  1. Irwin Block (Pompano Beach, FL) $5,224
  2. David Lopez (Pembroke Pines, FL) $5,060
  3. Paul Oken (Boca Raton, FL) $4,831
  4. Nigel Murray (Miramar, FL) $4,670
  5. Luis Dominguez (Miami, FL) $3,608
  6. Lascelles Peart (Royal Palm Beach, FL) $3,331
  7. Jonathan Marcu (Boca Raton, FL) $1,822
  8. James Powers (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $911
  9. Franklin Rojas (Plantation, FL) $911
The most recently updated Player of the Month leaderboard is listed below:

Promotions: From 10:00am (the minute the doors open) until 11:00pm, $300 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes. These high hands must be aces-full or better, use both hole cards, and be the winning hand (in a pot that has at least $10).  From 11:00pm until close, $100 high hands will be awarded every (30) minutes.

Monday, August 2nd: Desogos Gets Off To A Great Start, As All Eyes Are On $10,000 WSOP Main Event Seat!!!!

ICYMI: Sunday's $130 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" ($3,000 GTD) kicked off a special month of tournaments at the Isle Casino Pompano Park.  Since it's introduction, the Player of the Month leaderboard has been well received by players, adding a little more value to each tournament played (especially those players go deep in).  Each month's winner earned an extra $2,000, on top of the cash they received from their tournament scores.  August is a little different...as the Player of the Month will win a seat into this year's World Series of Poker $10,000 Main Event!

Getting off to a good start is always going to be helpful towards a monthly run, which may be the reason that we saw a solid field in yesterday's event.  The "Monster Stack" field reached (132) entries, and an official prize pool of $13,200.  A total of (17) players earned a piece of the prize pool, with action playing down to an outright winner.  Roberto Desogos (Oakland Park, FL), a tournament veteran, ended up taking down Gregg Bloom (Delray Beach) during heads-up play.  The 37.31 leaderboard points is a very healthy score, considering how many tournament end up in a deal (therefore altering the amount of leaderboard points earned).  Official results from the first event of August are listed below:
  1. Roberto Desogos (Oakland Park, FL) $3,731
  2. Gregg Bloom (Delray Beach, FL) $2,360
  3. Brian Levine (Pompano Beach, FL) $1,399
  4. Woody Bonarto (Sunrise, FL) $858
  5. John Riccardi (Lake Worth, FL) $653
  6. William Farnan (Jupiter, FL) $554
  7. Robert Leff (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) $482
  8. Tony Choi (Solana Beach, CA) $422
  9. David Inselberg (Boca Raton, FL) $373
  10. Charles Petruzzi (Deerfield Beach, FL) $330
  11. Tyler Gray (Bradenton, FL) $330
  12. Dessiree Bennett (Tavernier, FL) $330

  15. Amir Baron (Coral Springs, FL) $290
  16. William Reich (Deerfield Beach, FL) $254
  17. Franklin Rojas (Plantation, FL) $254

  • Players start with 25,000 in tournament chips
