"Single-Day Series II:" Burbick Defies Odds To Finish Runner-Up ($17,250)

$2,500 No Limit Hold'em
"Single-Day Series II"
Level 18 (Blinds 15,000/30,000/30,000 Ante)
Total Entries: 30
Players Remaining: 1

Corey Burbick (Davie, FL)

Like Andrew Touchette before him, Corey Burbick (Davie, FL) managed to reach a point in the tournament that seemed beyond unlikely, earlier in the day.  With ten players remaining, Corey was sitting with just (15) big blinds, sitting with 55,000 at 2,000/4,000 blinds.  Corey managed to make it to the "official" final table of nine, but was still an underdog to even cash.

Burbick then proceeded to catch fire over the Level 11-12 time period, and after the money bubble burst, found himself within 150,000 of the chip leader at the time.  He would then have to watch as Jonathan Jaffe caught fire, and while Burbick would reach heads-up play, he'd have a mountain to climb to catch Jaffe.  Heads-up play would last only a few hands, with Burbick bowing out in second place ($17,250).
