FSPC Event #1 (Flight 1G): Sheirich Doubles Up, After Preecha Taepakdee Makes Hero Call

2018 Florida State Poker Championship
Event #1 | $175 No Limit Hold'em | $100,000 GTD
Level 14 (Blinds 2,000/3,000/3,000)
Total Flight 1G Entries: 182
Flight 1G Players Remaining: 41

Bill Sheirich (Daytona, FL) may have been trying to get a stronger hand to fold by going all-in on the turn, but ended up getting max-value out of his hand.

We approached Table 5 during a hand between Bill Sheirich and Preecha Taepakdee, with Sheirich all-in on the turn (of a board reading A Q 4♣ 3).  With almost 50,000 in the pot already, Taepakdee needed to call another 55,000 if he wanted to see the river (or thought he had the best hand).  Preecha cut out the chips for a call, and after assessing what he'd be left with, ended up making the call.

Sheirich tabled A 8, flopping a pair of aces, and turning the nut-flush draw.  Taepakdee followed by tabling A♠ 7, making what looked to be a "hero-ish" type call.  The river would bring the 6, locking up the double for Sheirich, and bringing his stack up to 170,000.

Bill Sheirich - 170,000 (56bb)
Preecha Taepakdee - 60,000 (20bb)
