Isle Poker Classic Event #7 (Day 1A): Field Beginning To Shrink, Oscar Valdes Can't Match Maritzas' Deep Run

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #7)
$1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event
$200,000 GTD
Level 8 (Blinds 400/800/800)
Total Day 1A Entries: 52
Day 1A Players Remaining: 31

Steven Legault (Naples, FL) gained Isle Poker Blog "fame" during the 2018 Florida State Poker Championships, and is looking to recapture that magic over the next few days.

As the blinds increase, we are beginning to see players exit the field at a steadier pace, with Oscar Valdes the most recent departure.  Valdes was all-in for just under 15,500, and got called by Steven Legault (Naples, FL), who had a very similar sized stack.  When the cards were tabled, Valdes held the lead, with 7♠ 7♣ against Legault's A5.  The flop 2 3♠ 4♣ flop changed everything, as Legault flopped the wheel, leaving Oscar drawing to running full house outs to win.  The sweat was alive on the turn, as the board paired with the 3, but Valdes would brick the river.

The stacks were counted down by the dealer, and Oscar was informed he was covered, as he wished the rest of the table good luck.  Legault is now back above the starting stack, sitting with 32,000.  Steven's name may sound familiar to followers of the blog, having taken second place in Event #1 of the 2018 Florida State Poker Championships ($175 No Limit Hold'em).  Legault earned $18,453 as part of a four-way deal that ended the event, which still stands as his largest career cash, and makes up more than half of his lifetime earnings ($32,527).

Steven Legault - 32,000 (40bb)
