Isle Poker Classic Event #7 (Day 1A): Oscar Valdes No Longer On The Rail, Focused On His Own Deep Main Event Run

2018 Isle Poker Classic (Event #7)
$1,100 No Limit Hold'em Main Event
$200,000 GTD
Level 3 (Blinds 100/200/200)
Total Day 1A Entries: 33

Oscar Valdes (Miami, FL) spent most of Monday afternoon on the rail, keeping a close eye on his wife's progress in Event #1 ($200 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" $100,000 GTD).

Earlier this week (Monday afternoon into evening), Oscar Valdes (Miami, FL) was very much focused on Day 2 of Event #1 ($200 No Limit Hold'em "Monster Stack" $100,000 GTD), and the progress of his wife.  Maritzas Cuartas (Miami, FL) came into the day in the middle of the pack, but quickly shot up the leaderboard.  She ended up making a solid run in the tournament, eventually bowing out in 26th place, earning herself $915.

Oscar was there every step of the way for his wife, present in the poker room throughout the entire run, offering advice and insight.  Valdes is now looking to flip the script, as he begins his trek towards finding himself a Day 2 bag for this main event.  Oscar has just over $23,000 in lifetime tournament earnings, headlined by a fourth place finish in Event #1 of the 2015 Battles At The Beach ($175 No Limit Hold'em Deepstack $150,000 GTD).  The event ended in a final table chop (ten-ways), with Valdes earning $13,185 for the result.

We haven't confirmed whether Maritza will be in attendance over the next few days...but for now, Valdes is looking to hold it down for the pair.  Some other notables in the Day 1A field include:

Joshua Hillock
Kenneth Bruno
Frederico Tabus
Cory Williams
Thomas Gari
Steven Rosen
Julian Wohlgemuth
Ofer Peleg
Gunnar Rabe
Thomas Macey
Paul Darpino
