"June $50,000 GTD" (Day 2): Majid All About The Action, Not The Pictures

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 18 (Blinds 4,000/8,000/1,000)
Players Remaining: 175/1,725

Thomas Millward (Boca Raton, FL)

Mo Majid returned as the Day 2 chip leader, and after an hour of play, nothing has changed.  Maid, who requested his picture not be taken, has over 850,000 in front of him.  To put his stack in perspective at the moment...there isn't another player in the field over 500,000.  There are two "daily tournament" regs that have seen a solid start to the day, with Tom Millward increasing his Day 2 starting stack to 440,000, and Nestor Caraballo chipping up to 460,000.

The tournament field continues to shrink at a rapid rate, with the structure beginning to catch up tho the shorter stacks.  The 152,000 chips average is now less than (20) big blinds, and will continue to lessen until the later stages of the tournament.

Mo Majid - 866,000
Nestor Caraballo - 460,000
Tom Millward - 440,000
Raminder Singh - 290,000
Will Cusella - 283,000
Zakarya Wolgamott - 260,000

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 16 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/400)
Players Remaining: 214/1,725

Scott Hecker (Boca Raton, FL)

Day 2 players are just returning from their first break of the day, as tournament staff colored off the black (100) chips.  As the break was about two minutes in, players began to question why the clock was still running.  There was one hand still in play at Table 15, with Scott Hecker experiencing the better side of variance on the river.  Hecker had called a check-shove from Larry Travers, holding A♠ 10♣ on an A Q♠ 10 flop.  Scott's tournament life would be on the line, as his hand was behind Traver's A Q.  The turn would bring no help for Scott, who needed to see one of the two remaining tens from the deck.  The two-outer did hit on the river, giving Hecker the full house, and leaving Travers with less than 100,000.  Scott now has one of the top ten stacks in the field, sitting with 310,000 (77 big blinds).

"June $50,000 GTD" (Day 2): Field ITM, Raminder Running Good To Start

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 15 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/400)
Players Remaining: 216/1,725

Raminder Singh (Delray Beach, FL)

A handful of players busted in succession to start the day, but then things slowed down for (10) minutes.  After another four eliminations though, play entered hand-for-hand, with the bubble to burst just moments ago.  Some of the group to fall short of the money included Zack Kadel, Luis Guarda, Calixto Rodriguez, Abraham Gross, Eric West, Larry Stoddard, and Joe Basso.

Trending in the right direction since the noon restart was Raminder Singh (Delray Beach, FL), who three-bet shoved over a raise from one of the chip leaders (Lisa Teebagy).  After two limpers released their hands, Lisa called quickly, and saw her 3 3 dominated by Singh's K♠ K♣.  The board would run out 4 6♠ A♣ 2 6, and Raminder would earn the double (to over 300,000).

"June $50,000 GTD" (Day 2): Cards In The Air As We Play Down To A Winner

"June $50,000 GTD"
$75 No Limit Hold'em
Level 15 (Blinds 1,500/3,000/400)
Players Remaining: 226/1,725

The picture above shows only a small portion of the (226) bags that are going to be spread out across (23) tournament tables.  Day 2 will resume with 20:00 on the clock in Level 15, with blinds starting at 1,500/3,000/400.  It's a little bit of a "relief," so to say, for a field that was scheduled to return at blinds of 5,000/10,000/1,000.  Players come back to an average stack of (35) big blinds...opposed to (10).  While the back-up in the structure helps those below average to begin the day, within two hours, the stacks will be much shallower.  The field starts the day only (10) eliminations from the money, and with the number of super short stacks coming back, the bubble could potentially burst this first level of the day.

Cards will be in the air just past 11:00am, as Tournament Director Ralph Brandt goes over the rules for the day, as well as the payout procedure here at the Isle Poker Room.

Sunday, June 11th: Day 2 Of "June $50,000 GTD," "Turbo High Hands," And "Hard Stop, ICM Chop"

ICYMI: Yesterday saw the final three flights of the "June $50,000 GTD," and as expected, it was the busiest of all the starting days.  After registration closed, Flight 1G had a total of (239) entries, Flight 1H with a couple less (237 entries), and Flight 1I with the most of the nine flights (330 entries).  The $500 chip lead bonuses from the day were awarded to:

Flight 1G: Nick Persad (278,000)
Flight 1H: Ira Miller (283,700)
Flight 1I: Mohd Abdul-Majid (397,200)

With all nine flights now in the books, the "June $50,000 GTD" numbers are in...with a total of 1,725 entries making up the field.  The official prize pool closed at $86,925, with the tournament offering up a first place prize of $14,293.  Two places at the final table will be walking away with a five-figure score, while everyone who reaches the final table will walk away with over $1,000...in a $75 buy-in event!  It's been more than evident that this tournament was extremely popular with the players, whether recreational or professional.  A total of (226) players will be returning at 12:00pm this afternoon, and will be playing down to a winner.  The money bubble should burst within the first 10-15 minutes of play, as (216) of the (226) players returning will be walking away with a payout.

Tournaments: As mentioned above, the first tournament on the schedule is the resumption of the "June $50,000 GTD" at 12:00pm.  The Day 2 action is going to move quickly with (20) minute levels, so as the field shrinks, the schedule sees an opportunity for players to take a "second chance."  At 6:00pm, the cards will be in the air for the $100 No Limit Hold'em "Hard Stop, ICM Chop" ($5,000 GTD), and event that allows for players to "plan ahead."  The tournament is just like any other on the schedule (in terms of structure and play), but offers a "hard stop" time.  After (16) completed levels of play, and (10) hands (in hand-for-hand play), those remaining will ICM chop the remaining prize pool.  The tournament was run for the first time last week, and was chopped by Isle Poker regulars Tom Gity and Diane Linke.

Promotions: For a number of months, Sunday's high hand promotion has been of the "turbo" format, with $300 awarded every (15) minutes from 2:00pm-9:00pm (rollovers apply).  While that promotion is still in place this afternoon, there will be an extra six hours of "turbo" high hands, with $100 awarded every (10) minutes, from 8:00am-2:00pm (rollovers apply).  However you break it down, it's $600 worth of high hands up for grabs over the span of (13) hours.  Both tournaments are high hand eligible, adding even more appeal to the events.

12:00pm - $75 No Limit Hold'em ($50,000 GTD) Day 2

6:00pm - $100 No Limit Hold'em "Hard Stop, ICM Chop" ($2,500 GTD)

- Players will start with 16,000 in tournament chips
- Late and re-entries for the first (8) levels
- Alternates and late entries will start with a full stack
- Levels are (20) minutes
- At the end of Level 16, tables will be balanced and tournament will play (10) more hands, in hard-for-hand format.  Tables will be re-balanced after (5) hands.
- At the end of (10) hands, tournament play will end, and all remaining players will chop the prize pool using an ICM calculation.
