2017 Florida State Poker Championships
Event 1 - $175 No Limit Hold'em ($100,000 GTD)
Level 17 (Blinds 2,500/5,000/500)
Total Event 1 Entries: 1,594
Players Remaining: 200/1,594
With over twenty tables in the tournament area, some hands slide under the radar of the media, as was the elimination of Patrick Somboonsap (Ft. Lauderdale, FL). Patrick came into the day with 36,500, and was one of the shortest stacks returning to Day 2. Somboonsap was greeted by Tournament Director Ralph Brandt, and was notified that if any other players busted on the same hand, he would receive a part of 200th place money.
Fortunately for Somboonsap, he'd wait to find out that two other players were eliminated on the same hand, and that the three players would split 199th and 200th place money. The other players that busted on the "bubble hand" were Andres Morales and James Woodburn, with the trio earning $146 each.
The flurry of eliminations that commonly occur after the bubble has already seen (10) places off the tournament clock, with official payouts from the first pay group to be posted shortly.
