A couple of players approached Tournament Director Ralph Brandt about doing "flips" for a seat into Event #14, and just (20) minutes later (and a few announcements to the room), there were ten players (each putting up $110) ready to play one hand for a seat. There would be no chips...no blinds...no betting. Just a draw for the button, the dealing of a hand to each player, and a full board runout.
Before any player's hands were exposed, the dealer ran out a board of 9♠ 8♦ J♦ Q♦ A♦. There was commotion from the table on each street, and after the river put four diamonds on the board, everyone quickly looked to see if they had a diamond. "I have the king, I have the king," David Poces said with a big smile. Poces was awarded the tournament ticket, and is now seated at Table 10. There are already players looking to do this again, as another interest list has started.
