Lona Rubenstein (East Hampton, NY) may seem very quiet and unassuming at the poker table, but she has a record of being one of the more successful players in the field. |
Lona Rubenstein (East Hampton, NY) has been featured on the blog numerous times before, with both her lifetime accolades...along with her poker accolades being mentioned. The former United States National table tennis champion started taking up poker as her career as a professor/author was winding down, and has seen some real success with the "hobby." Rubenstein has over $44,000 in live tournament earnings, with her most recent cash coming just two days ago, when she was part of a seven-way deal that ended Monday's $150 No Limit Hold'em ($20,000 GTD).
Rubenstein took home third place money, which was worth $2,713, and is already her fourth cash of the year. Looking at Lona's tournament resume, there is one glaring thing that stands out...she makes a lot of final tables. Of her last thirteen recorded results, ten of them were final table finishes! That's an extremely impressive trend, no matter who you are in the poker world. Five of those final table cashes were from Foxwoods (2013-2016), with the other six coming here at the Isle Poker Room. Rubenstein shows a lot of loyalty to the rooms she likes, which is why it's not surprise that she's in this early afternoon field. Lona headlines the first look at notables in the field, which includes others like:
Michel Gariepy
Stanton Drazin
Joe Marchese
Ian Cohen
Steven Zukowski
Elliot Goldman
Andre Rakusa
Zaki Lichaa
Joseph Mancuso
